I've never seen the aqua show (or cruised RCL, for that matter), and hope the AquaTheater is fully functional for our sailing (June 9). I wonder how long the cast would need to practice a new (modified) routine for safe performance; and if there is a training facility somewhere that is utilized for such practice, training new perfomers, show development etc.
For veterans of the Oasis class, are rehearsals for the aquatic show done routinely during cruises? If so, are they "closed" events?
We had our cabin facing the aquatheatre/boardwalk last year in Allure of the seas and could see the rehearsals (without the costumes and music); not the entire show but the dive in and acrobatic training

Not Roger, but you may want to try the company Spain Day Tours. They get excellent reviews on these boards and they do have tours that include Soller and Valdermossa.

Thank you both, I will reach tem! ;)

Hello Roger! First of all thank you very much for all your posts and help!
My parents will arrive to palma de mallorca in a group of 10 persons aboard Oasis of The Seas, June 24th.
I'm trying to help them choosing tours.
I was thinking about Vaaldemossa and Soller. Because the most part of the group is + 65 years old, and most of them are not in great shape, they prefer to book an excursion instead of renting a car. Could you please recommend any good excursion for a group of ten, with a Spanish speaking guide? (All the group is from portugal, but they understand Spanish).
Thank you very much!

I'm the minority. We never chose our cabin because we don't spend much time at the cabin and never had a bad cabin until now, so we keep trusting our luck ...last year we only knew where were our cabins 2 days before our cruise while we were cruising aboard other ship . We often have upgrades (last year from the cheapest interior to one cabin facing boardwalk, this year from the cheapest interior to a balcony cabin...). But I totally understand the ones who prefer a certainly kind of cabin

Hello, I'm Portuguese, living in Portugal. We normally cruise with Royal Caribbean and Carnival and we can book directly with them, specially carnival (and we are used to do it). But when we cruise with MSC we must contact one travel agency to do it for us.Maybe we are wrong but we were never able to do it online. If you want to do it online you must use one foreign address.I believe there is no problem because everything is made through e-mail.

Just wish we had a crystal ball... could maybe get on a different ship or change to a land only vacation which I would hate to do but would be an option. First time to Europe to celebrate our 30th along with our 3 grown children. I guess only time will tell.
I understand your pain.We normally cruise from USA (we live in europe) and normally we have one week cruise and several days after and before the cruise to visit cities, watching sport games, attending events...We spend months planning different routes, hotels, attractions, car rentals...It's not like booking a new ship and that's it My parents will be boarding Oasis (i hope so) june 23rd.They are really happy because it's really difficult for my father dealing with long flights, and the opportunity to sail in an oasis Class ship here in Europe is something that they are waiting for years. The other reason is that my father will travel for the first time with his brother, who is dealing with cancer...so this trip will be really special for them...I really hope that oasis start to sail in may! (At least it's moving 0.6 knots right now...I don't know if those are good news, but...)

The largest Carnival ship I have been on was Carnival Legend, when is still considerably smaller than all of their newer ships. Didn’t care for that particular ship, but then again, I was never a fan of the Joe Farcus designs. Their newer decor looks more subdued and appears to have a bit more tropical flair. Definitely open to trying the again, as the upcoming Mardi Gras looks to be intriguing.
I keep reading bad reviews from people who sailed with carnival 10 years ago, with the old ships...We gave it a try to carnival sailing aboard C. Breeze and is my favorite cruise ship since then (and I have been in really nice cruise ships :D ). Today, if we compare the newest ships there are more similar than different things. :D

Majesty was my first Royal Caribbean cruise ship ...+20 years ago. Today we can't compare it to any of other Royal Caribbean ships where we have been. We sailed NCL Epic, the only one that we sailed with NCL...it was nice but we can't compare for instance with Anthem of the seas or Allure... It´s a little bit "unfair" to compare one cruise line choosing the oldest ship, or one of the oldest to try it...(like you pointed, actually) My parents sailed aboard NCL Star and said that the cruise was great but it was a "poor ship"...Why? Because they are used to the mega ships, that´s why ;) You spoke about things that are diferente between RC and NCL that actually are not different on the majority of RC ships, for instance, there are lots (lots!) of places to eat besides Windjammer and main dinning room in the new ships (i could remember 7, for no charge , in my last cruise)...but not in Majesty of the Seas.
Saying that, thank you for your review ;)

Actually when we were in Allure we were impressed that it never felt crowded. Even in windjammer, we saw big lines but only had to wait like 2/4 minutes to be seated (much better than walking around trying to find an empty table). Enjoy!

After reading most of these posts people either had LOUSY travel agents who had no idea what guarantees meant
Really lousy! I have been cruising for 25 years, normally make my own reservations and was always advised for the guarantee rate ...when the passengers know the rules better than the TA....

I used to think like that but the older I get the more I appreciate just sitting on my balcony reading or enjoying a glass of wine.
I totally understand that :) Personally we like to enjoy the ship outside the cabin.Had several balconies in past cruises (all of them upgrades, not the original cabins) and never used it more than 10 minutes. Don't get me wrong, if they give it us for free we will accept (actually we tried to change the upgrades by OBC instead of the balcony but hey refused, lol) but we normally save the money for travel. But probably will change our minds in a few years :)

July 14th?! Wow, my parents will travel on June 23rd, I was expecting that Oasis would be ok by that time. They are waiting for an oasis class ship to arrive to Europe since...ever! And my father will travel with his brother for the first time... I hope they can make it!

That is not a live satellite photo. Google map photos are not live photos.
yes I know, but it was a recent photo. The ship was a TUI one; Carnival is there at the moment. I'm not sure if there is enough space for 2 ships... :/

i googled Cadiz, Spain in maps and you can see a cruise ship in one of their dry docks being worked on. its either a salvage job or a rebuild... it looks very extensive. plenty of room in the dock too, probably where Oasis is going to dock as the other one is much smaller
Maybe Carnival Sunrise (formerly Triumph). It's suppose to arrive to Norfolk by the end of April/beginning of May. But comparing images it doesn't seem the same ship ...
Edit: the picture in google maps was a Tui Ship, maybe Discovery or Explorer, not the carnival one that arrived 2 weeks ago ;)

We did it with different cruise ships, cruise lines and reportórios. (Carnival Victory out of Miami and Allure of the seas out of Fort lauderdale). No problems at all. ;)

The very sad truth is my husband and I have decided this will be our last cruise with Royal Caribbean.
They do it on other cruise lines too (obstructed balconies). I keep reading about it on cruise lines threads. Glad everything is ok now :)

It depends how do you value your cabin. We couldn't care less for our cabin(only to sleep and shower), that's why we always book guarantee, never had a bad cabin, normally have upgrades (from interior to balcony for instance). But if you give a big importance to the cabin, you should pick it ;)

For us would always be a nightmare....we fly from Europe to USA to cruise and we can only do it during a couple of weeks p/year. We normally plan everything that we want to do during 2 weeks: the cruise, the cities to visit near the departing ports after and before the cruise, book sport games to watch live (unique opportunity for us), rent a car... For us is not only "one cruise". We spend months planning how to organize everything after and before the cruise. If they cancel it we would have to cancel all the trip. :(

Unfortunately we are dealing with Laura Thunder since Tuesday :( What a bad weather to visit the normally sunny Lisbon :(

Hello, my parents are in a group of 10. Considering that the max capacity is 8, I was thinking of booking 2 cars (with 5 people each). Did you have any luck? Thanks
