  1. So...we contacted Portuguese MSC and was told that they have nothing to do with the status that I have in other cruise lines, only MSC past cruises :classic_huh: I sent one email directly to the status match email, wish me luck :classic_wink:

  2. Thank You for your quick responses :) I was thinking if it's a thing that we can book prior to cruise. Unfortunately in my country we are not able to book most of the things by our own, we have to ask the TA for everything and there are things that we don't even know that can be booked :D

  3. Hello! I saw that there is a Solarium at MSC Splendida, exclusive for some passengers (like Aurea/Yacht Club) but also saw that there are fees to use it.

Does it mean that the specific passengers can access paying a fee, or that the specific passengers can enter freely and the fee is for the other passengers? If so, when can we make reservation for this Solarium? Can we make it in advance before cruising?

    Thank you

  4. Hello! Are there St Patricks's parties or any special event during St. Patrick's day aboard MSC Cruises? I have been to other cruise lines with lots of things going on during St. Patrick's day (no matter if we were in Caribbean, Mediterranean...) and we had lots of fun. Thanks

As far as finding a contact for the ship, anyone have recommendations for that?  We booked this ourselves and not with a TA.

    I found this: Contact:  phone +00870 764911645 / 646 / 642    Fax +00870 764911644 / 647

Wishing you a fantastic cruise :)

  6. The information in the MSC webpage of my country says that In Dubai you must board 2 hours before the departure time. Don't want to bother you, but try to figure a plan B just in case and just to make you feel safe...You should contact MSC telling them that you will arrive late so they can give you some advice. We always arrive the day before our cruises, until last year when our flight was canceled...now we plan to arrive 2 days before (actually will arrive 4 days before to enjoy Dubai). Once again, don't want to scare you, just be prepared. ;)

Hello! Do you remeber what are the prices they offered while inboard. I got the information that we can chose from 3 different packages to buy prior to the cruise but there are 2 other packages that we can only buy in board...but nobody can give me the information regarding to this.Thank You .)

Just received tickets from our TA for the week before you, cruise that departs the 9th. Boarding time states 13:00. We'll be arriving in the cruise terminal somewhere between 7:30 and 8:00 am. Travel agent promises to get us on board as soon as possible (we're part of a group accompanied by tour leader). Hoping it's possible, no lust of hanging around in that terminal for 5 hours!

Thank you for your input. We have lots of things to do in Dubai so we are not worried to board too early ;) maybe will arrive around 4 pm

  9. Two years ago we cruised 2 ships almost in a row (with 3 days in genoa between them) and we could chose to cruise 3,4,5,6,7 days...they had people entering in all the ports, like you said. We booked the chosen days when we made the reservation, i don't know if you can add more days after booking. They can have the cruise sold out for instance.

  10. The tours that they sell at the port are less than half the price they sell inside the ship.We booked ours online after researching for reviews with tripadvisor. No cash advance needed and this way we could chose whit who we will sail.

Can you say more about the tours that are offered?

You can see the details here and contact the tour providers by email. https://www.tripadvisor.pt/Attractions-g298416-Activities-c61-t167-Khasab_Musandam_Governorate.html

The reason I started looking at the bus option was because on other travel info sites folks stated taxi drivers would not take you to the mosque unless you took a tour - which I don't want. I will hopefully get a taxi willing to just drive me there. Yup = defeated! LOL!

I was reading the same thing; then I read that the "problem" is not that they will not take you to the mosque, the thing is that they charge 40 € only to take you to the mosque, and 65/70 € for the 3 hour tour...:classic_happy:

There is an entrance fee of about 30 UAE durhams to enter opera house so you can't just wander in. The mosque closes at 11.30 am so we just viewed from outside, if you wish to go you need to allow time and be dressed accordingly and for women this means full cover up.

you can get taxi to drop you at souk at end and walk back which would take about 20/25 minutes , however be prepared for lots of hassle if you touch or look at anything!!

Thank you very much. I sent one email to opera house and was told that we could have one tour, but we are not interested in the tour, just to have a look.maybe we will pass. We want to visit the mosque inside because we saw stunning photos on the website, so the mosque will be our priority (will be dressed with long pants and long sleeves and bring a big pashmina -will bring it everywhere during this trip- or I will rent the traditional dress :classic_happy:). I read that the souks will close for lunch until 4 pm, maybe we have time to visit it before lunch. We are used to haggle, we have been in Morocco and other places like this, normally we show no interest for nothing! We like the souks more for the ambiance than for the shopping opportunities :D :D Thanks again for your inputs

  13. Do you book the tours because of the guides knowledge?I was looking for things to do in muscat and were told that we can have a taxi for 3/4 hours taking us to where we want to go for less than we pay using tours. Are the main diference the guide knowledge? if yes i don't mind to pay more  than we will pay to a taxi driver.

we enjoyed the trip and you spend the amount of time you want at each stop, e.g. We went into opera house and spent 20/25 mins there but you don't have to go in if you don't want to.

Thank you!!! We would love to enter the opera house but we are afraid we will have not enough time for the mosque and souks because of the closing times. Are we allowed to enter the opera house or do we have to take one of the tours provided by opera house? we saw the halls and are amazing :)

  15. We will arrive to dubai 3 days before, and pretend to stay in the city as much as possible, I asked and was told that will be possible to board later. I heard that muster drill happens normally at 8.30 and sometimes 10.30.

  16. is it easy to get a cab to the mosque and then another one to just return to the city? We have been reading that there are cabs that will refuse to take you to the mosque unless you agree in one 2/3 hours tour.

We got a taxi at the gates and it was 300 dirhams for a 3 hour tour and we went to the mosque, the sultans palace, the souk, the beach and various other sites. If you want to go somewhere different or for longer then just agree a price with them.

there is a free shuttle bus that drops you in town but we didn't see many public buses although our dinner guests got one back from sultans palace after walking the 2 or 3 mile s there!

Will they accept dirhams in Muscat? Can we chose where to go? ( i have been marking all our favorite spots in google maps) Thank you

Thanks for the heads up - I will have a look at this company. I got to the credit card payment stage with another company and thank goodness looked at the ship itinerary. Out ship docks an hour after the little boats take off …………. Sigh!

I contacted 5 companies (the first 5 in tripadvisor) and all of them said that they will wait for the ship passengers, no matter how late they arrive ;) For instance, our ship will not dock, will tender at 9 and our meeting point at the port is booked for 9 too.
