  1. So, are European (and especially on the Sapphire) receptacles the 2 round pins or the 3 prong like in England?
  2. I am pretty sure there was at least one. Can't remember from our Budapest to Amsterdam cruise we did a couple years ago if it was in the bathroom by the light or near the little desk at the foot of the bed. We have a lot of adapters from doing lots of European trips. BTW, We are in Ottawa too.
  3. We are on the Sapphire soon. How many North American style electrical outlets are there? Where are they?
  4. And be aware, your email may send Scenic or unrecognized attachments into your Junk or Spam folders. Ours did.
  5. Yes, the Scenic website and customer service lines, emails and messages have been slow in responding. Besides the big crash, I think they are also suffering staff shortages and as well, they have changed office locations and are still setting up. I am not apologizing for poor customer service but I do understand the serious issues they have had in the past 5 months. We have also spent time emailing, messaging and on hold but to say the wait was worth it. We did get all our questions answered and issues resolve and our documents are on their way by FedEx as I type. We depart for Nice next week and on the cruise 21 July. What surprised us was that Scenic had not n]made arrangements for any hotels in Nice, just a meeting place at Nice airport to get on the bus for the ride to Tarascon.
  6. Would the ship know what hotel Scenic is suggesting? Would the ship know where and when the pickup point is?
  7. Thanks for that. Would have no problem going to the hotel to get picked up. We did that in Budapest. Scenic used Marriott for 250 euros per night and we stayed around the corner at a great place for 100 euros per night. The thing is, in previous emails, Scenic said they do not have a hotel in Nice. They said they may meet at the airport. Guess I will have to call and be on hold for hours to find out if anything is new. They are not answering emails.
  8. Do you use this while on the tour? I will not have data on my phone in Europe. It is very expensive form my provider to buy a foreign data plan. I know there is wifi onboard but, to use it off the ship like I used the book, would be costly.
  9. The app asks for a 4 digit code. Where do I get that?? I know that you need to put in your cruise code and that was done.
  10. We will be getting onboard Sapphire on 21 July from Nice to Lyon. Thing is for us, although it says starting at Nice, the ship is actually at Tarascon. We cannot get hold of anyone at Scenic to tell us where to meet a bus to get to Tarascon from Nice. We are getting to Nice a few days early to visit Cote d Azur and have booked our hotel already. Anyone have any idea where we meet Scenic in Nice?
  11. When we went on our Budapest to Amsterdam cruise we had a book that had a map and lots of information about the stops and sites along the way. Great book. I cannot remember, do you get that book mailed to you or is it in your suite on the ship? The way things sound, it may be that nothing gets mailed to us for our 17 July cruise?
  12. A lot of posts about changes of boats. I am not sure why as all boats are spaceships and they are all the same. We had the misfortune of having to change boats 3 times due to low water levels (Budapest to Amsterdam) and all the boats were the same except maybe some furniture was different colours.
  13. On the Sapphire, mid deck, near front, Sapphire deck I think it is called. Balcony suite. All balcony suites are 205 sq ft, regardless of location.
  14. In my experience (limited having had to change ships 3 times on Budapest to Amsterdam trip), the difference between deluxe suit and regular balcony suite is the location. The deluxe suites were]closer to the foyer (reception) area. All are the same size.
  15. We are on the 21 to 28 July, Nice to Lyon cruise Chef Lynn Crawford from Canada plus Tommy Smythe, a decorator and architectural historian that will give some tour insights on board.
  16. How can other cruisers know if you have it from your home country or caught it while on the flight or got it 2 days before boarding and not showing symptoms till 3 days after? Or on one of the daily tours while on the cruise? Are you suggesting that testing should be daily and never end?
  17. Personally, if you have never been to Europe, I would get to Amsterdam several days ahead of the cruise. To get over any jet lag and to be a tourist in a very great city. I would also stay an extra few days at the end of the cruise in Antwerp for a look around and a few day trips. What to avoid? Well, river cruises give you options every day, Do not try and do too much. They can be long and tiring days and that takes away from the enjoyment. September is a great time as it is not during prime tourist season and the weather is still very good.
  18. Thank you so much for this information. Getting a response by email or by phone is a huge problem. No one on the phone knows anything and the email responses are equally as uninformative. We are arriving in Nice 4 days in advance to tour the Cote d'Azur and asked what hotel they are using and the email said they are not using a hotel? Makes no sense as there cannot be 140 people arriving at the airport on the morning of departure LOL
  19. Going on Idylic Rohne, Nice to Lyon in July. Looks like it is sold out for 2022. Has anyone been on this cruise? How do you get from Nice to Tarascon where the ship (boat) is docked? Scenic bus? It is quite a ways away, about 170 miles. Any tips or information is welcomed.
