  1. Good evening Just popping in to say all of you need to be safe, whether it is because of light fixtures that don’t work or natural disasters. Thinking of you all.
  2. Maybe the bus does run. The Ho Ho does go up there, but costs $40-50. We elected a taxi. @bennybear We did not get to Quidi Vidi. We were both exhausted after walking down the hill and our feet were demanding to be freed from our shoes.
  3. Good afternoon! We had a great day here in St. John’s. We managed to get to the top of Signal Hill in a cab. The city bus no longer runs up there. Maybe a lobby by the cab drivers? We enjoyed the views and started the walk down. It really wasn’t too bad, especially since we stopped at the Chocolate Cafe part way down. Sue had a coconut delight and I had a Nanaimo (?) bar. Here’s the hill we started from. And we walked back to the ship. And enjoyed the scenery along the way.
  4. Good morning, everyone! @Mr. Boston Happy Birthday! I think I am 98% this morning. Getting out and walking about will help greatly. We’re going to look for the city bus to Signal Hill. We’ll decide about walking down or taking the bus when we get up there. Otherwise, t-shirt shopping.
  5. Good afternoon, everyone! I am feeling so much better this afternoon. Sinus pain is all gone and just some drip left. So, I am looking forward to communing with some nature tomorrow in St. John’s. Today we just went to the pharmacy and back. I picked up something recommended by our table mate last night. She is a retired ER doctor.
  6. I do have antibiotics and I think they are helping. Everything is draining from my head, which makes me miserable, but that is a good sign. The headache is gone right now, so it is a matter of patience. I’m not good at that.
  7. Good morning from the Zaandam! I am a bit better today than yesterday, but still have a ways to go. Our excursion today is to find a pharmacy. I’m hoping to be better tomorrow to do some hiking. Glad to hear Baby Murphy is doing better and that Lou is home. Also good news that Ivan is feeling better. Lots to celebrate today.
  8. Good morning, everyone, I managed to make it to breakfast this morning, but didn’t eat much. The silver lining to this sinus infection is loss of appetite. I may or may not go to the Mariner Lunch. I do want to hear the presentation about the Bay of Fundy by the geology enrichment speaker. I have been enjoying his talks and I am so glad he’s on board. After that, who knows?
  9. Thank you all for the well wishes. I do have something I am taking for it and it helped me sleep last night. The pain in my face has lessened considerably and I might be semi-human this morning. Sea day today, so I will have to walk the deck.
  10. We saw what we thought was smoke as well. The sinus headache is back with a vengeance. I ordered room service for dinner, although I didn’t have much of an appetite. I know this is sinus because my face hurts so badly.
  11. Greetings, everyone, from Nanortalik, Greenland. I woke up today with a raging sinus headache. I get them from time to time. I was tempted to stay on the ship since I have been there before, but a good walk around town helped a lot. Now that I’m back on board the headache is returning. Here’s a few pictures from around town.
  12. Good morning, everyone! Enjoying the sea day today! We saw something strange while we were walking the deck this morning. There is a yellow plume in the sky and we can’t figure out what it’s from. We’re too far from Iceland for it to be from land.
  13. Good afternoon! We had a most fantastic excursion here around the Snaefellsnes Peninsula. What spectacular scenery! I hope everyone found the birds nesting in the rocks in my previous pictures. Pictures 2 and 3. Here’s from the black sand beach. We walked down between the lava fins, walked down the beach, and came back up another trail. Hoping you all have a wonderful day.
  14. Greetings, everyone! It has been a great day in Reykjavik, but I am exhausted. The highlight was the National Park and rift zone. Most of what we think is the rift are actually fissures. The rift zone tends to be a valley and in this area is several kilometers wide. These are mostly fissures. Where you see the lake is in the rift zone.
  15. Greetings from Reykjavik! We went downtown this morning on a very successful t-shirt quest and also ran into @StLouisCruisers Sandi and Dennis. Our excursion is this afternoon to a volcano. @richwmn Wishing you the happiest of birthdays! @Copper10-8 Happy Anniversary! @smitty34877 more hugs coming your way. @summer slope while they didn’t find the source of your problem, there must be some relief knowing there is nothing serious going on.
  16. Greetings everyone. @smitty34877 hugs for you and I am glad there is progress in Lou’s treatment. He is where he needs to be right now. We are currently on our way to Reykjavik after a busy day in Djupivogur. We took a tour organized by a CC Roll Call member. It was a bit of a drive, but worth it when we got to the Glacier Lagoon. After that we went across the street to Diamond Beach and walked in the black sand. Wishing you all a wonderful day!
  17. Greetings from Seydisfjordur, Iceland! No organized excursion today. We went out and walked around town. Sue found a gift for granddaughter River and we sent off a postcard to Ellamary. We hiked up to a waterfall and then had some great fish and chips from a food truck near the public pool. @Tbay Happy Birthday! I am happy to hear that @mamaofami’s DH will be released to rehab and that @DeeniEncinitas and DH are safe. Such a tragedy on Maui. Good wishes for @catmando and @ger_77’s DH. Wishing you all a wonderful day!
  18. According to our guide, we did. I want to research and verify, of course. Thanks to all for your kind comments. I’m glad you are enjoying our trip!
  19. Greetings Dailyites!! We had a lovely day here in Akureyri even though it was cold where we went. We first visited Godafoss, a beautiful waterfall. From there we went to see the boiling hot mud pots. The smell of sulfur was strong, but worth enduring. Next up was the Lava Labyrinth and a short, but really cool hike. We really earned our lunch today! We were served mushroom soup, arctic char, roasted potatoes, and salad. Everything was delicious. Every meal I have had in Iceland has been really good. Last before returning to the ship, we went to the pseudo craters. They are pseudo because they were not erupting volcanoes, but formed from super heated water when lava flowed into it. I am happy to hear a positive report about Baby Murphy @cruising sister as well as Annie’s @marshhawk lung report. Let’s keep the good news rolling! Wishing you all a wonderful day.
  20. Greetings from Isafjordur! It is a beautiful day here in Iceland. We went to the Dynjandi waterfall. It was a small private excursion and Val most of those on the bus were from our roll call. After the waterfall we went to a farm for coffee and cake. Mmmmm.
  21. I watched a critter squeeze under my back door one frigid January morning. He got halfway across the kitchen and turned and looked at me. Then he really took off. He was cute, but he had to go. @Quartzsite Cruiser Thank you, Lenda, for your pictures. I had heard of the excursion ashore there several years ago from someone on that cruise. What a neat thing for the villagers and for the cruisers.
