  1. Maybe they could turn it into a quilting retreat place. Sounds like it meets all the criteria.
  2. I am the family historian so I have all the pictures. And all the dirt.....
  3. I think if you just let the eggs simmer a bit longer than normal you can get the yolk done the way you want it. I have to have all of the white cooked or I won't eat it. I am loving all the pictures today. Not only do I get a free trip to Lisbon, it is especially sweet to see all the moms, grandmoms, and great grandmoms. Here are my grandmoms. Grandma Evie Grandma Rita and Grandpa Bill. Grandpa and Nanny Huener with Haide and Bill. I was blessed with Nanny Huener's body type. Great Grandma Grace - my dad's grandmother Nanny and Grandpa Ford - my mom's maternal grandparents Granny Leiber and Martha Enright. Martha Enright was my dad's maternal grandmother. Granny Leiber was her mother. I'll bet that Granny Leiber was stunning when she was younger.
  4. Does this look like the shakshuka you know? I think it sounds wonderful. Far fewer carbs. https://downshiftology.com/recipes/shakshuka/ This one looks good with the avocado. https://www.loveandlemons.com/shakshuka-recipe/ And there is a green shakshuka. https://food52.com/recipes/81585-green-shakshuka-with-cheese-recipe What a great option!
  5. Good morning, everyone. It is always nice to wake up to sunshine and warm temperatures. We should get to almost 70 F today with temps this week in the 80s. I'll take it! It will be nice to open windows and let the fresh air in. Nothing much planned today except the pool. I salute all the moms. I'm sure Heaven has a big celebration for all the moms there. Here's a picture of me and my mom. Today's meal is full of flavor and different from the usual bacon and eggs routine. It would be good for breakfast or dinner. This first recipe uses flour tortillas and the slow cooker to make the carnitas. https://www.tasteofhome.com/recipes/carnitas-huevos-rancheros/ This next one uses corn tortillas and offers some suggestions for a quick version. https://www.theorganickitchen.org/white-girl-huevos-rancheros/ This next one fries the corn tortilla and uses a corn salsa. I want this one! https://www.foodiewithfamily.com/pulled-pork-huevos-rancheros/ Prayers for all in need, especially Ukraine and our Daily family members. Special prayers for Jacqui and Ann as they navigate new territory. Once family and friends spread out after services the true depth of loss sets in. We're here for you, Jacqui and Ann. Wishing everyone a great day.
  6. And @Rowsby To be fair, I was in the minority on this. Most of the quilters thought everything was just hunky dory. Some had been there before and most of them did not have issues with being roomed with strangers or have dietary restrictions. So, it wasn't an issue for them. As for me, it is over and I'm ready to move on from it. I just won't go back. Not a big loss to me.
  7. HAL should have a notification system set up so those going home call alert them to Covid cases that develop after the cruise. I know not everyone will be up front and report, but they really need some sort of idea of how their mitigation steps, if any, are working. What didn't you like about the shrimp? I think it all looks good! @JazzyV I, too, love the picture of you and your mom. She has that adoring look on her face and you look like a youngin' ready to conquer the world. Weren't we all at that age. @HELENPSL Thank you so much for your post. It is nice to know when you've touched someone for the better. I think you're on the same cruise in October as I am, so I am hoping we get to meet and celebrate! As for Tallin, I wonder if tall Herman and Fat Margaret ever got together and begat other little towers. Like Stout Svetlana and Lanky Lara. Ok, I'm getting silly now. I am home and delighted to be here. It was the owner of the facility that caused most of the problems. She is the one who redid the rooming arrangements. Why, I do not know. My roommate came with two other women and they had asked to be together as there was a room for three. Instead, she was put with me, some other person was put with her two friends, and my friend was put in a room for 5. She chastised me for taking a whole spoonful of scrambled eggs yesterday at breakfast. I explained that the eggs were the only item I could eat and she snarkily told my they didn't care about individual dietary needs and I should have brought my own food. She went on to say that I had been informed of that before I came. Well, no, I wasn't. She also said that information was available on their website. Well, no it isn't. We got yelled at when we first got there because we brought our sewing machines in and she yelled that we were supposed to leave them in the car. How were we supposed to know that? I was ready to leave and come home at that point, but I had Anne with me and didn't want to ruin it for her. If I could have gotten Anne a ride home, I would have. We will call that a learning experience and it is a one and done. And, today we were blessed with bright sunshine this morning. Even the heavens were celebrating coming home.
  8. Good morning, everyone. Today's a new day and tonight I will be home and sleeping in my own bed. There is something to be celebrated about that. Last night kind of evolved into a dance party which was still going strong when I went to bed. Today's meal is a Korean street food and is a pancake with a sweet brown sugar syrup filling. https://www.maangchi.com/recipe/hotteok https://mykoreankitchen.com/korean-sweet-pancakes/ This next one is a variation and has a caramel apple filling. https://www.notquitenigella.com/2019/07/29/caramel-apple-hotteok/ Prayers for everyone who needs them, especially Ukraine and our Daily family members. Prayers that Jacqui and Ann find healing and peace. Wishing everyone a wonderful day.
  9. Wow!! I know one sister who would be terribly upset. Hope you have a great cruise.
  10. Good evening, everyone. The machine worked perfectly today and my triangle points are improving. The food isn't and the owner of the place told me that although I had paid for meals, and you have to pay for meals when you register to come here, I am responsible to bring what I need to meet special diets. So far the menu has been sugar. But, tonight we drove into Bemus Point and had some really good fish. Not the Portuguese Cod in Olive Oil, but the famous fish fry. The thundercloud over my head moved on to my sister. Her car was making noise and she took it into the dealership. Turns out the transmission is about to die. The silver lining is that the car is under warranty and they are paying for a loaner for the week. @Heartgrove I am so sorry that your sister's time is so short. Thankfully you will be able to visit.
  11. Good morning, everyone. Quilting is frustrating. My machine is acting up which infuriates me. I just had it tuned up and it was still in the plastic wrap from the shop. There should be no issues! And, I can't get my triangle points to work out correctly. Grrrrr. Codfish in olive oil, à Lagareiro. This classic from the Portuguese cuisine goes by many names: Bacalhau à Lagareiro, Bacalhau no forno, or Bacalhau assado com batatas a murro. No matter the name, this is one of the most renowned and frequently made recipes of salted, cured cod. It originates from the Beira region where the use to cook it in the ovens of the olive oil cellars during the olive oil season at the end of October. The dish can be prepared on a charcoal grill in the summer, or in the oven during the winter season. it was difficult to find recipes that didn't need translation, so there are only two. https://terradobacalhau.com/en/2017/09/18/codfish-in-olive-oil-lagareiro/ And here is option 2: https://www.foodfromportugal.com/recipes/cod-lagareiro/ Prayers for all who need them, especially Ukraine and our Daily family members. Special prayers for Jacqui and Ann. Now that the services are done comes the hardest part trying to find your new normal. Wishing everyone a great day.
