    And you must remember the price of you drink in the Comm Club includes a view that is almost unmatchable in a bar on land and, if your are lucky, hot canapés and live music.

    Bread rolls boring? There are so many different types: brown, white, flaked, seeded, cheesy ones, the helical salted ones, and I’m sure some I’ve forgotten. I think that’s pretty interesting.

    I think it may also depend on the chef. On one QV voyage, my husband had roast lamb at lunch and, on a different day, some venison at dinner which were both impenetrable. Even I can reliably roast leg of lamb so it is tender. We did wonder if it was a particular individual who should be on puddings or something.

    I am impressed. We have the opposite problem. The portions are invariably too large. We both hate leaving stuff, so rarely have any of the steaks, because we find them simply enormous. The steaks we have had have always been tender.

    Do they really do that? It all sounds rather rushed and impatient. I would expect to be asked whether I want to carry on with the same wine, or start something else. And, quite often, we have more than one bottle on the go, so they would ask which we wanted to start with. And if we both wanted it.

    There are Roman/Saxon city walls, a Mediaeval Merchant’s House, the City Art Gallery is calm and impressive. If it is a nice day, a trip on the Hythe Ferry gives you a chance to see the Harbour.

    Won’t work for me. Just tells me to set up loyalty when it is already set up.

    I think it is new. Have they got your history correct?

    But did you find the entrance to the outside lifts? I think I must be the only person who likes the QM2’s layout because it is symmetrical and you can walk all the way round the ship inside without having to swap over the other side, as on the Vistas. I admit you have to go up and down a bit.

    In my latest brochure it is called Hotel and Dining Service Charge.

    I thought the Diamond perk was lunch in the Verandah or dinner in the pop ups.

    In contrast the only time I have set foot in any of the gyms was when our muster drill on QM2 was there. I am still traumatised. They often have rather nice classical concerts in the Queens Room in the afternoons.

    Not yet. I have heard much praise of the water colour classes.

    I too like to lounge on the balcony (if the weather conduces) reading, but I rarely get as much read as I expect. This is partly because of falling asleep, but more because of the fascination of the endless and endlessly changing sea.

    Hard to be precise what with the wind, but I would guess it is nearer 18/64.

    And we made it even worse for ourselves. Because it was to be a one-off experience, we upgraded to a QG cabin. And have almost always booked them since. Doomed. 🙂

    In 1997, we booked a once in a lifetime crossing on QE2, coming back in Concorde. Concorde was once in a lifetime, but we have been on Cunard nearly every year since then, and, as a result, are pretty broke. 🙂

    Jeans are fine during the day. Trousers and a collared shirt are OK for non formal nights, but most people wear jackets, sometimes even ties. The clothes you buy won’t be wasted because you’ll probably book more trips.🙂

    Remember the prevailing wind is westerly, and QM2 is sailing into it at, probably, 23 kts. This can turn a harmless breeze into a gale. The temperature should be pleasant enough, but not warm. Often the sea temp. is slightly higher, according to the info.

    The parking is with CPS. It is very efficient. You are met at the Terminal, they take the car away, and it is waiting for you at whatever terminal you return to. You need to calculate whether it is worth more than the obc offered. You can use CPS as a paid for option as well.

    I think the PG does have fewer tables than QG, so a little more space. I have never minded passers-by or close tables, but some people do. Mind you I have never had a table next to a loudmouth who smelt. 🙂

    The days don’t have to be days, but 24 hour periods, so three tranches can cover six days if planned carefully. Otherwise yes, if they haven't put it up.
