  1. You’ll probably be happier if you can, vexing as it is.
  2. How much does it cost to park at the airport? Otherwise, for five days, you won’t have much luggage, why not train all the way, if it’s not a strike day, and doesn’t involve Nuneham Bridge?
  3. And you get free bottled water in your cabin, I think.
  4. The Grills don’t usually open till 1, occasionally 1.30, on embarkation days, so you should have time to inspect your cabin first.
  5. No, but with the weather as it is at the moment you might need a sheepskin overcoat. 😀
  6. Well, I certainly hope they sell oodles and oodles, to make up for the money they must have lost.
  7. This is the first one I’ve had since Covid, and I haven’t had the Yearbook either.
  8. Irrelevant but fascinating. Why does someone dying on one’s birthday make one interested in or familiar with their works? I think Bertrand Russell died on my birthday, but must say I’ve always struggled…Sorry, HH.
  9. I might be tempted to make a politely sympathetic remark, asking how Cunard had lost their luggage, because that could be what had happened.
  10. Yes, the cover is gorgeous. It sure about the funnel colour, though.
  11. Use the agent and save the hassle.
  12. Absolutely infuriating. Best to employ a travel agent to endure the hassle.
  13. No, of course it doesn’t, but I’m usually so overcome with excitement at the thought of being on the ship that I can hardly contain myself, childish as it is. And in the days when I did go in aeroplanes, if we were early at the airport, we would try to spend the time in the most elegant eating/drinking place we could, preferable watching the planes. And, wherever you are, queueing for security is somehow disagreeable.
  14. Yes, except last April in the throes of Covid, I don’t think we have ever had to wait, and, even then, actual check in was the least of the tediousness. What you do not get priority for is security. That is first come, first scrutinised, unless you turn up before everyone else.
  15. I have been directed to a separate check in area in the past, but not in the sense of a separate room. In any case, you shouldn’t have to wait.
  16. I wouldn’t trust the train on a Sunday, particularly out of the summer holiday season. In August, it should be fine. The other thing is the lack of luggage space which can be awkward. The carriages are really designed to squeeze in a lot of commuters. And if I were in a Q2, I’d aim to get there earlier than 12.
  17. I would guess the Grills, in particular, will go within minutes at those prices.
  18. What uniform were the officers wearing? Wouldn’t that be a good indication?
  19. But much higher up, and evident, though harmless, movement at times.
  20. Except nobody seemed to tell Safarigirl which seems a bit daft.
