  1. Hi, a few photos from our day in St. John's, New Foundland. We took the Coastal Hike excursion. They take you to the top of Signal Hill and then you walk down. We really enjoyed it, but not for the faint of heart or those not steady on their feet. Then went to Basilica of St. John the Baptist. Beautiful. Then to fish and chips place (excellent) recommended by excursion guide... and then some shopping and back to ship. See you next time. Canada.
  2. From Greenland today: We took a long hike by this lake. See Jewel of the Seas in the far distance. Jewel... From the tender returning to ship...
  3. We have only done Nuuk so far. It is a bit "rough" looking in places with ugly (for lack of a better word) warehouse-apartment buildings etc., but it has pretty spots and clearly the coastal and snow-covered mountainous areas are very pretty. They could do quite a bit to improve tourism if they wanted to...
  4. Thanks. We originally had a hiking excursion, however it was canceled. So we did without an excursion and did a lot of walking and exploring. It worked out fine.
  5. We went up at midnight to Deck 11 to see potential Northern Lights. Although not so clearly visible to naked eye, the camera picked up the color.
  6. We also did that RCI excursion and loved it. We have also done St. John multiple times with RCI excursions and had a great time, both "On your own" and Trunk Bay and others. All good. Hard to go wrong. Enjoy.
  7. Apparently we are going to Manhattan first.... About Your Upcoming Travels Dear Guest, As promised, we wanted to provide you with an update to your Jewel of the Seas September 14th, 2023 sailing. Along with our Chief Meteorologist, Craig Setzer, we’ve been monitoring adverse weather from the remnants of Hurricane Lee. To ensure a safe and smooth journey, we’ll now overnight in Manhattan, New York instead of visiting Halifax, Nova Scotia. We’re sorry for any inconvenience caused by this. Nevertheless, we’re excited to sail away with you! Below please find our revised itinerary. Whatever you decide to do, we know you’ll have a memorable time! Any pre-paid Royal Caribbean International shore excursions booked for Halifax will automatically be refunded to your original form of payment. Feel free to visit the Royal Caribbean App and select the icon or pass by our Shore Excursions Desk on Deck 5 so our destination experts can help you plan your time in Manhattan. We’re sorry for the last-minute change caused by the weather – the safety and well-being of our guests and crew members remain our highest priority. Please know, being onboard a ship is one of the safest places to be because we are faster and can move out of the way of any inclement weather. This is the latest update. The situation does remain fluid, but we are currently looking good for travel to Greenland. We continue to closely monitor the weather conditions for our voyage and any potential delays or impacts to ensure a comfortable cruise. Our team will keep you informed every step of the way. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. We look forward to welcoming you onboard soon! 8. Just got the email too. Will be interesting (?!) We had an excursion in Greenland cancelled as well, although I think unrelated to the weather situation as I am aware of nothing else being cancelled.
  9. I know they charge some people because I had a towel charge (incorrectly) show up on the final night of my most recent cruise. I called Guest Services, they said it was removed and I confirmed about 30 minutes later that the credit was there. It is best to check your account periodically. Happy cruising.
  10. @Jimbo Our last few cruises out of Bayonne there have been the traditional lines (vs. iPads.... although we did experience that process some years ago there). Lines were pretty long, however there were tons of check-in counters and the process (and photo) went quickly. On one cruise prior to boarding we had to sit in a waiting area with many rows of chairs. On our last cruise, after check-in, they sent us directly to board. So it all may depend on the time you arrive, etc.
  11. We are on the Jewel cruise to Canada and Greenland. Departs a couple days after yours. Have a great time!
  12. I luckily found it because I love the made to order omelets and never would have bothered with the MDR as we had 3 little grandkids with us 6 and under. 😉 🍳 When is your next cruise?
  13. Hi! When we went on Oasis at the end of July, they did have an omelet station in the WJ, but it was somewhat hidden. There was a worker standing at the end of one area that said Eggs and more (or something to that effect). She gave you a beeper after you gave your order. It was probably the most efficient omelet station I have experienced in any WJ, and it was likely because there was no big sign or line.
  14. We had connecting Boardwalk balcony staterooms on Oasis and had the permanent balcony divider that could not be opened.
  15. @cublet My husband's great-grandfather came to the US from Bristol. His family apparently made pipes (as for smoking tobacco) there, not gelato. 😉 Great photo. Love the hats.
