  1. You can do it either way. Use cash to get chips at the table or you can take money out on your room account for a 3% charge. If you are playing at the slots, there is no charge to take money out from your room.

  2. You can send it in for OBC any time before your cruise as long as the board has approved the credit for the upcoming year. They seem to approve it every year but a couple times I applied for it and was denied because they had not approved that year yet. A few months later everything was fine.

  3. I have paid in full, my point and my only point is that the prices of cruises rise quickly and substantial.so for me if the price seems pretty good when I first price it I book it. In the ten or more cruises we have taken. When I check, have never seen a lower fare. I usually book about 4 or 5 months before the sailing date. Also don’t reall check it very often..

We rarely see a price drop since we need to cruise during the summer. The this year we booked a year in advance and I got over $1,000 in price drops so it does pay to check.

The only other time I had a price drop was when the Concordia sank, I called my PVP six times in a week for price drops over $900. Hopefully something like that does not happen again but things do happen that can affect cruise prices.

  4. If you link the bookings, you can use the hub app to request a table. It will show all the people linked to your booking and you can choose some or all. It will let you know when your table is ready and just go to the dining room. No need to go to the YTD area to check in.

That being said, 2 night out of 8 on our cruise last week, the app was not working but when it is working, it is handy.

  5. We got off the Horizon a last week and had a Havana cabin. They did a good job of telling people to leave if they did not have the wristband.

There was an early issue. For the first 2 days a five year old kid was there running around. Supposedly Carnival let them book the room with the kid in it so they let him stay. Lots of people complained since he was running around and they finally told the family no more. Not a big deal but he was jumping in and out of hot tubs. I don't need that.

IF they are letting people in without a wristband, talk to guest services. They will work on it.

  6. There are a lot of threads on this and there seem to be no exceptions now. Previously, with a doctors note, some people got on exemptions but now with all the addons there are none.

You can try to book her in another room with someone in the family who wants to buy Cheers and then get key cards for the rooms when you get on board so you stay with who you want.

  7. I just got off the Horizon last week and we had YTD. As mentioned before, the check-in is by the Coffee shop on deck 5 and it opens at 5:30. You can also check in using your phone app. Just show it to the wait staff when you get to the dining room. On two nights, the app was not working so we had to check in on deck 5. Not a big deal but don't rely on the app.

  8. I think a lot of it is just luck. When we first started cruising, someone told me to take your son on the first night because after that the cliques start to form and it is hard to break into them.

On some cruises, our soon stayed with us and on others we rarely saw him. I did not see any correlation between size of ship and friends he met but I guess it could make a difference.

  9. There is room to put out toiletries on the vanity as well as the shelves. Talk to dining room when you get on about the sugar free options. I seem to recall seeing some but am not sure.

Unless you get Faster to the Fun(FTTF), you will have to wait until about 1:30 to get your room. FTTF gets you priority boarding along with some other perks. I am not sure of cost but it is around $80 per room if available.

Muster is outside. Hopefully it will not be too hot in October. That is my only gripe with those.

Interestingly enough, I am in the same boat as you just the other way around. We have done around 17 Carnival cruises and are doing a Princess next year.

  10. Carnival does not offer any beer deals like that. You can preorder a 4 pack with a cooler but it will be full price. If you get a bucket of 4 beers at a bar, they will take $2 off the total cost. I only drink beer and am very happy with Cheers.

  11. We just got off the Horizon and they are using the plastic bags for the laundry service. They seem smaller than the old paper bags but they don't tear as easily so I was able to fit more into the bag. I think I fit in four shorts and eight shirts and had room for more.

  12. I did see John post the IMAX movies on the Vista for early August. They were Mission Impossible, Antman and Mama Mia. So it appears 3 rotate along with the standard imax documentaries.

You can just check the IMAX website to see what new releases are around your actual sailing date. Not many are released in IMAX. They seem to get releases very quickly on the boat. The MEG, Alpha and the Nun were the only August/early September releases when I checked recently.

I was just off the Horizon and they had the new Mission Impossible on the release day. I thought it was amazing that they had the new movie during the middle of our cruise on the same day as everyone else.
