  1. LCR tomorrow (Tues 23rd) at 3:30. If the roof is open or it’s miraculously no longer a sauna we will meet at the pool bar. Otherwise (and likely) at the Explorers’ Lounge at the tables in front of Mamsen’s.
  2. Some more unsolicited advice. If you’re booked on the Point Venus Lighthouse and garden excursion, you might want to rethink it unless you really enjoy long bus rides. It is about 30 min to the lighthouse, then 1.5 hours to the garden and then almost an hour back to the ship. If you decide to do it, highly suggest you not be on the 1:30 run as it’s unlikely you’ll be back for the 6:30 Tahitian Dancing show. Both places were fine, just too far apart.
  3. For my fellow cruisers headed to Papette, be advised if you buy flowers in the market, they will need to inspect them and ask you to destroy before we reach New Zealand.
  4. Fun but wet day in Bora Bora! We enjoyed the included boat cruise and had planned on going to the beach afterwards, but about halfway through the cruise the occasional sprinkle turned to rain and by the time we got to the dock it was a deluge. So after a walk through town, we headed back and got to the World Cafe just as they were lowering the blinds. But had lunch and then came back and hung our wet clothes and I worked on our boat entry. Will have to put this on the “come-back” list. The people seemed so friendly and would love to see more than the lagoon and the wet “downtown”. IMG_0142.mov
  5. Doubtful given it’s too hot to be inside. I’ve only seen four or five people using the space. Sad.
  6. Sounds like maybe we have booked a similar excursion. Thanks for the advice!
  7. No side windows on the older ships. 😢. They were one of the tweaks made to the newer ships and work great!

  9. They opened it midway through the crossing ceremony….to loud cheers but it’s been closed ever sense and each day it gets hotter and hotter.
  10. I hope those of you who are frustrated about not being able to use the pool deck due to the oppressive heat will join us in expressing this concern to Sky’s management. We have sailed several times before and while they were not able to open the roof in high winds while underway they certainly could do so when the weather was as it has been since we left Hawai’i. I hate not being able to even walk through the space without breaking into a sweat.
  11. Does anyone have any experience or even suggestions on fun things to do in Papeete now that we are overnighting there?
  12. It was announced today that Sky is going to be leaving Moorea early (6:30 rather than 11) and we will be overnighting in Papeete after arrival at approximately 8:30pm. Does anyone have any suggestions on nighttime activities in Tahiti? TIA
  13. Presuming y’all have Baklava Day on Neptune, don’t eat much lunch-save all your room for dessert. OMG, so many delicious (a couple not to my taste but others loved) choices!
  14. Great! See you in a year. 🤞 he must be from ‘merica like me😂
  15. I spoke with Chef Pepi this evening and he will be boarding Neptune when you get to BoraBora to present his Chef’s Table Japanese Menu. If reservations are open go ahead and make them now-it was a delicious meal! You can see our review over on the Chef’s Table tread. Hopefully it will be a permanent addition to the rotation. https://frenchefs.com/pepi-anevski-world-sushi-champion
  16. Any idea why if he had two months to plan we aboard Sky are having lots of Caribbean dishes and tonight as we head to BoraBora it was Greek Salad night? And one of the days on the way to Hawai’i the destination menu was “New England”?😳
  17. Well with the vacuum it’s hard to tell but I think when we were in Oz in the 1990s it did🤔 https://www.livescience.com/34225-does-water-in-a-drain-go-a-different-direction-in-the-southern-hemisphere.html
  18. I noticed that also. Figure we will wait and see if that it what is actually served. I for one am a bit disappointed that we aren’t having one related to our ports-Sri Lankan, Indonesian for example. Planning on having a discussion with someone soon about it.
  19. Did yall see the equator? I almost missed seeing it as it was so dark!😂
  20. Or within what some more knowledgeable than me have set will be the allowable time in ports to maintain our disembarkation date.
