  1. We have and have in the past I would agree with you but that isn’t the case on this cruise.
  2. We loved our first cruise in 3008 or 3010 as we could open our door and go to sleep to the sound of the bow wave😀
  3. Agree with you and in retrospect sorry we didn’t send our Sweet & Salty overcooked scallops back….but hopefully the Maitre d’ gave the feedback to Chef. So far it has been difficult to get reservations in both alternate venues. As always, Chef’s Table has been easier as long as one is flexible, Manfredi’s less so unless your flexibility is after 8:15. Interestingly, there always seem to be empty tables-perhaps staffing issues have reduced the number of available reservations 🤔
  4. Our app hasn’t been updated to show our new itinerary but what I posted was delivered in a letter to our room. Have y’all not gotten something similar?
  5. So what does your revised itinerary look like? Any chance we will be in the same port at the same time? here is Sky’s 2/9 Sydney 10-1800 2/11 Rhyll/Phillips Island 18:00-23:59 2/12 Geelong 7-2000 2/14 Eden 8-1600 2/15-2/16 Sydney 8-?
  6. This article just popped up in my newsfeed (I don’t believe those tech gurus when they say our phones aren’t listening😂). Hopefully it will settle the conspiracy rumors that the port workers strike has been settled and that Viking just wanted to change our itinerary around cuz they could SMH! https://pulsetasmania.com.au/news/tasports-marine-pilots-to-strike-again-after-offer-of-14-25-raise-over-three-years-fails/
  7. @HUNKY as you will recall that Manfredi’s dinner was in the private dining room with a total of 12 or 14 of us. Like your other half, both of us were disappointed in our meals that evening but given the party size didn’t want to send anything back. We ate there last night and Mike ordered the same grilled assorted seafood he had that night, and it was night and day different. I ordered the bone-in ribeye as did one of our dining companions. It was also significantly better than we dined with you last summer. But it was not nearly as good as what we became used to as the standard pre-covid. There was also some inconsistencies between my steak and our friend’s. His had a bone and was very thin. My bone-in had a teeny tiny bone and was very thick. He ordered his med-rare and it was medium at best. Due to my earlier experiences and reports from on here, I ordered mine rare and it was a perfect medium rare-I don’t think it’s possible to get an acceptable rare steak when they are so thin. The rest of our meal was delicious-the pastas especially. All of this is to say I hope you and Mrs Hunky give Manfredi’s another try next month and perhaps order judiciously-onnour next visit I plan on skipping the secondo and having pasta as my main entree.
  8. Looks easypeasy compared to Nelson which was threading a needle and then making a u-turn! Seems like someone said y’all weren’t going there? Or maybe it was Hobart that isn’t on your itinerary….wait, maybe that’s why they dropped it from ours today-it wasn’t a strike-it’s just of Neptune can’t do it then neither can Sky😂
  9. Denise I messaged our Aussie friend who lives in Brisbane now but has lived all over the east coast of Oz and below is her response. Hello Gentlemen - Les and I had our official honeymoon in Merimbula and Eden, so I do recall a few things. Eden is a whaling town and has a whaling station nearby. It is a prime location for whale watching as they migrate to and from Antarctica. There is a lighthouse, and Rotary Lookout which is close to the wharf. Imlay Street has lots of cafes and restaurants. The Killer Whale Museum is near there as well. Potoroo Palace is in Merimbula which is a short drive from Eden. They offer some of the same native animal encounters as Australia Zoo. Pambula is about a 25 minute drive from Eden. There are a few Oyster farms in the estuary there that supply restaurants in the area. Banjo's oysters in Merimbula also has a food truck at Eden wharf, which may be a great option if you want really fresh seafood. The Sapphire Coast is known for its fresh water and great conditions for seafood. Hopefully, there are a few options for exploring in this message. Hope the weather is kind to you. See you soon.
  10. Well crap, Neptune gets everything! https://www.instagram.com/reel/C2-g1KvvqD4/?igsh=MW94c2VzNjVtZnBoNg==
  11. Anyone who is interested in doing a group directed pub crawl on Friday afternoon in Sydney, let’s meet at the pool bar at 2:30 on Thursday. Please come with at least one suggested pub/bar/restaurant. We will plot out a start time, path and plan of attack together. I’ve pictured my suggestion below, the Fortune of War Pub.
  12. A request of our fellow passengers, if you are going to have a phone call, FaceTime, etc. could you please do it privately rather than in the Explorer’s Lounge or Aquavit or Living Room. We have found that our stateroom is perfect for phone calls.
  13. Kudos to Viking Sky’s food team for coming up with a way to respond to another suggestion. Mike had mentioned that it would be great if occasionally the pool grill stayed open for dinner-after a long day ashore, having a quick burger rather than a real meal would suit us better. Initially, we were told they couldn’t do this as they couldn’t close the noodle bar. But this morning, we found out they are going to have burgers and buns available at the World Cafe. Like the steaks, they will be cooked “à la minute” when requested. Hope others will enjoy ordering the occasional burger also. Thanks Viking!
  14. Wonder why not? @peterpan48 noted the same thing and mentioned it to me this morning. He said that there are other cruise ships down there now. Guess we will find out at noon once they finish abandoning the ship!
  15. Tuesday is a sea day so hope you’ll join us at LCR at 3:30 at the pool bar (unless it’s too hot in which case you can find us at the Explorer’s Lounge)
  16. Can’t seem to get most of the pictures that wouldn’t that go with my previous post to upload. Maybe when we hit land again? Or check on Instagram #cantwaitforrealwwifi
  17. Great day in Nelson, so glad we made it ashore! Our included tour this morning was to the Nelson Classic Car Museum. It’s an amazing private collection of automobiles. The oldest are 115 years old and it includes all makes, models, and eras. I was amazed by the dovetail joints in the Chrysler Town & Country, the tea set in one, and how precise they are with the restorations. The Land Rover shown in the garage is almost done-four years after they started! I was taken with the amazing radiator caps. All were beautiful and the one added functionality! We didn’t exactly have a death march today, rather a long walk around Nelson. It’s a nice little town with a 6 block by 6 block downtown with lots of shops and restaurants and breweries. We first headed along the river (past some pretty homes) to the Sutter Gallery. This gallery is housed in an old Māori building with a beautiful modern entrance pavilion and connection to the nearby Queen’s Garden from which we went into downtown. The block of the Main Street in front of the cathedral is closed to traffic and was being well enjoyed by many locals. I’m glad we made it into Nelson as it gives us one more insight into New Zealand. Sky visited two small towns-this and Waitangi, a medium sized city-Tauranga, and two big cities-Wellington & Auckland. All were great to visit and we sure hope we get to come back sometime! Thanks New Zealand for a great week!
  18. We are having trouble docking in Nelson due to high winds. So far two attempts have failed. We just turned away (8:42 am-original docking time was 8am) for the second time. No word yet on whether their will be a third🤞
  19. We didn’t walk down but our included tour did take us to the top even though it was part of the description. Our driver asked if we would rather have an hour at the museum and go up there or have 1.5 at the museum. Given you need days to really see the museum, glad we all voted to go up!
  20. That’s why I started this thread!
  21. It was very smooth filling but I think you’re right about the tapioca. And agree about how good it is and mango being my favorite…along with passion fruit.
