It is not just the new ship/onboard unknown experience that is scary - each different cruise line I want to try has a web site I need to learn how to navigate, various promotions that I need to understand,

So true.  I have my third Windstar cruise booked this year.  I booked in June with an All Included booking perk.  I was in the process of making final payment with my TA this week and forgot to give him the 3 digit code for my credit card.  I was reading a post on Cruise Critic Windstar page which just happened to mention the promo and how it included double the 5% loyalty discount.  What??!!

The short blurb on the itinerary page mentioned nothing about it.  When you looked at the detail of the promo under the Specials page it mentioned the double discount.  Called the TA and got repriced.  The Taxes/Fees had also decreased by $80 pp (which Celebrity doesn't change after original booking) so my savings were over $700!

The only insurance company offers medical evacuation that will get you home is Medjet. Its from any hospital in the world to your home hospital.

I have used it and is very helpful.

Yes and to be clear this is not medical insurance.  It's a policy you get over and above medical/evac coverage as it covers hospital to hospital transportation only.

I just phoned Geo Blue to compare to our big box insurance. The coverage is less & does NOT cover treatment in the US Virgin Islands or Puerto Rico. Many Caribbean cruises as we know stop there. The quote was $ 483 . My husband is 81 & I am 71. There is a$100 deductible.
I believe we are safest sticking with CoverMore.
100% Trip cancellation. Medical $200,000, Dental $1000, emergency med Evac $ 1,000,000, plus plus…. Also does include pre existing. The cost is either the 5% or 6.5% as catspaw1has noted.

Geo Blue is medical/evac coverage only and is also an annual policy so I think you are comparing Apples/Oranges.  Glad you checked it out and are comfortable with your current coverage.

If you are looking for Trip Cancellation/Interruption coverage Geo Blue alone is not the answer.

  4. That is an older menu.  In July corporate pushed a new standard menu to the ships.  I was on a B2B and the new menu was introduced on the second sailing.  Ours actually didn't include the Calamari or Shrimp starters listed on this menu but the mains are "standard".   No Filet anymore.

May be an image of text that says 'ZENITH LUNCH STARTERS| CHARCUTERIE BOARD GREEK SALAD BURRATA TUSCAN STILE CALAMARI TUSCAN STILE SHRIMP WΤΗ GARLIC FLAVOR ENTRÉES GRILLED SIRLOIN STEAK* Herb Roasted Fingerling Potato, Garden Baby Vegetables, Wild Mushroom Sauce GRILLED LAMB CHOPS* Garden Baby Vegetables Rosemory Sauce PAN-SEARED BRANZINO Sauteed Baby Spinach, Citrus Beurre Blanc WILD MUSHROOM RISOTTO Aged Parmesan Cheese DESSERT DESSERT TRIO Cheesecake Raspberry Sorbet, Carrot Cake *Consuming rOw or undercooied meats seafood shellhsh eggl mak poultry your risk of food-bome lhest especially you have certain medical condili VEGETARIAN'

don't think the offer changed from late June, but I might be wrong. We got a post card in early summer telling us about the promotion. It seems it always pays to keep an eye on how Windstar applies things as some things don't seem to be fully automatic.

Well I still don't understand Windstar math but the end result is I saved $737 by seeing the post about double Yacht Club discount.  Thanks.

  6. They post pending transactions usually $99 during the sailing just to verify the card is valid, these never post.  There will be one charge for the balance of your seapass account at the end of the sailing.  It can take a couple of days to post.

I'm guessing that, despite the complaints, Celebrity will continue this behavior as long as it remains profitable.

Yes as I said before this is nothing new.  We were on a B2B in 2022 and the second sailing had the Sky Lounge closed for PW private invite every day.  I do think that was only for one sailing though.  And it was when LPP was running the show so it's nothing new.

Celebrity could take a lesson from Windstar.  Laundry comes back nicely folded in a white garment zippered pouch, and the slacks, shirts & dresses come back hanging in a zippered garment bag.  All two days later!

And free if on sailings longer than 14 days or $9.50 per cabin per day.   I saw someone disembarking the ship with one of the garment bags, they are that nice.

Totally agree. Makes sense from a provisioning standpoint.

Just pulling away from the dock now.  The demographics changed significantly on this cruise to a much younger and local Miami crowd. I had expected this given the cruise is a Friday to Monday. Lots of groups of friends getting away for a long weekend.

Good luck.     The provisioning thing reminded me that a post covid (Nov 2022) B2B on Summit, 2 5 night sailings they didn't provision anything between the 2 sailings.  They were reduced passenger so that may have contributed.

  10. They seem to be making a point of doing 72 hr service  (2 days later) for Captains Club laundry benefit.  Not sure if it is due to reduced staffing in Laundry or just trying to generate additional laundry revenue for people who want it faster.

but the current promotion includes a 10% Yacht Club discount instead of the usual 5%.

@new_cruiser  Thanks for pointing this out.  My TA was in the process of making final payment today and thankfully needed the CVV code from me and I saw this in the meantime.   I booked in late June for Pride in December 2024.  I'm not sure if the All Inclusive promo included the 10% at the time as I don't remember that or reduced deposit.  Anyway I had TA call today and they put in a Price Protection form and gave TA a new rate (which was apparently wrong) as they called my TA back.  It appears they can't do math as they quoted the additional discount of $305 pp but then gave an overall price pp at about $1k less!  After over an hour on the phone they agreed to have supervisor provide written details tomorrow!  I believe the $305 is correct as it reflects the extra 5% and the $80 pp the taxes/fees have gone down since booking.

Anyway it appears I have to keep track of the details of the promo even if the name doesn't change.

But thanks to this thread I should be saving over $600 on this Xmas cruise.

  12. It's weird that the hot tubs on Summit haven't been operational since the restart.  We were on in Nov of 2022 and none of them were "bubbling".  When I asked they said it was broken.  It was funny that it was all of them, solarium and outside.  Since then we have sailed multiple times on the ship and still the same.   All other ships have them running.
