  1. We were on Mardi Gras recently and the Cloud 9 thermal suite pass came with our cabin. We barely used it. Carnival sold so many thermal suite passes to non Excel suites and Spa cabins that it was unusable and always overcrowded, even on port days. If Celebration is anything like our experience Mardi Gras was, it will not be enjoyable at all. They definitely should put a hard limit on how many of those Spa 9 passes that they sell.
  2. That is totally fair. I concede the point that it may have been the demographics. Maybe we will give Sunrise another chance.
  3. It's a few things about Sunshine. I like the pax to space ratio and it doesnt seem crowded. Also the Serenity area is the best in the fleet. Sunrise seemed way too crowded for us. It was like they packed a Dream class ship into a Destiny/Sunshine class. And no offense to anyone on here from New York, but the Sunrise cruise was our first and probably last cruise out of NYC. No one had any sense of personal space and everyone was pushy, loud and obnoxious just like you see when in NYC. As for Radiance, going all the way to California for a 3 day cruise to Ensenada doesn't excite us ay all.
  4. I personally love the Sunshine. I do not care for the Sunrise and have not (and probably will not) sail on Radiance unless she is taken off that West coast Ensenada 3 and 4 day run.
  5. Doritos and keychains don't pay the bills. If I call my mortgage company with those as payment in place of cash I am sure it would go over well. Just give them cash. It's their job to be nice. They will seem appreciative for a bottle opener from Lincoln, Nebraska but I can guarantee you they would prefer cash.
  6. I remember when I worked for tips during my college years. If someone had given me a gift I would have been insulted. I was working for money to support myself. These people are no different. Instead of spending $10 on a useless trinket that is probably headed straight for the trash can anyway, give them that $10 instead. They work for money, not useless gifts and chachkies.
  7. I don't think Captain's Lounges exist anymore. Plats/Diamonds and Suites just have a dedicated area with the rest of the fellow cruisers towards the front of the waiting area for priority boarding now.
  8. We have gotten some pretty good casino offers lately. We gamble a moderate amount. We cruise 3 to 5 times a year and gamble around $4,000 total on average per cruise. The latest offers we have been getting are $100 cabins with $1,500 OBC and Drinks anywhere on the ship. We have booked 2 more cruises this year and one for next year using this offer in the past week.
  9. My fianceé and I have taken both my daughter and her daughter on several cruises and land based vacations to Mexico over the past several years going back to when we were merely dating and my ex has taken my daughter both on a cruise and out to Europe and have never had any letter from either of our exes nor have we ever been asked for one. I wouldn't worry about it.
  10. Just put your bags out with any group number the night before. Then linger around the ship in a lounge our out on deck in a lounge chair and wait until last call to disembark. Then walk off, grab your bags and head to the airport. The mad rush of crowds in the customs area and baggage claim will be gone by then. We do this on 90% of our cruises.
  11. I say this on every post-cruise survey. I would like to see a proper English or Irish Pub concept on board.

  13. We just got off Legend 2 weeks ago and got the wine offer. We got the half off on Caymus though (always get ay least 2 bottles, sometimes 3). The free house wine is one step above swill.
  14. Unless Carnival goes back to the old way of doing things, there is no more priority boarding for Platinum and Diamonds. Suites are the only ones to get priority boarding as of now. You will be able to check in and grab an earlier boarding zone 2 days before all the non Plats/Diamonds, though. As far as the on board perks, you still have priority line at guest services and priority tendering and priority debarkation. Your free large water bottle will have to be picked up at any bar and your platinum gift and pin will usually be picked up at the Pixels photo shop. Welcome to Platinum. Only 125 days to go until you reach Diamond lol.
  15. Go to Joe's Shanghai in Midtown off Canal Street in Chinatown for lunch. They also have a second location in Flushing closer to La Guardia. Get their steamed pork dumplings and spicy chicken cucumber. You will thank me later. There are lots of little places in Chinatown and Little Italy off Canal Street that will definitely fill everyone up. As if you need more food after getting off a cruise.
  16. Carnival Captains aren't known for making announcements. My experience is most of them usually make the standard "Welcome Aboard" announcement just before sail away, and maybe a noon sea day announcement on the first and last day of the cruise.
  17. Lee Mason was named CD and Calvin Martens was named ED. https://crew-center.com/lee-mason-and-calvin-martens-lead-carnival-celebration-entertainment-team Lots of errors in this article. They seriously need an editor.
  18. I am a Christopher also. My Sail and Sign card always has the "r" cut off and it has never been an issue. Everyone just calls me Mr. Christoph (not pronouncing the "e") instead of Christopher. It's no big deal and has never been a problem. I have kind of grown to like it over the years.
  19. I know this is nit picking, but instead of saying "free", I would say there are things that are "included in your cruise fare" and "not included in your cruise fare". In reality the "free" things are what you have already paid for which were part of the base fare.
  20. We do like to dress up on formal nights, but no one really cares to be honest. Do whatever works for you. There may be one or two Karens and Brads that will be judge-y, but who cares? You do you and don't worry about anyone else.
  21. I always assumed that the ABC islands were part of the Leewards. My mistake.
  22. Carnival routinely has calls to the ABC islands in the deep southern Caribbean. They are non-Journey 8 day cruises. I have done two of them since the restart last summer, both on the Horizon.
