  1. We are getting closer to the islands.......
  2. That probably explains our unusual course. We are trying to get within helicopter range of Ireland. I hope all goes well.
  3. Callum is still on board, and I have found him to be very responsive to concerns. Do make an appointment to meet with him 🙂
  4. Well it’s a rainy day on Culloden moor, but that somehow makes it even more meaningful ☔️
  5. I didn’t see any pier runners! We really had a lovely send off, and blew our whistle magnificently 😀
  6. Not a great photo - hopefully someone will get a photo of the sisters together. I am soooooo glad we are not tendering today. But at least they do not have the weather problems we had the day before yesterday, so their tendering operations should go better than ours did 🙂
  7. I was awoken this morning by the sound of the gentleman playing the bagpipes on the dock. It's not even raining, and there are patches of blue skies, it's going to be a good day! There are loads of flags on the dock - an interesting assortment of countries. Welcome to Kirkwall.
  8. Thank you so much for letting me know this :). She must have been a real beauty in her day!
  9. The Commodore Club was totally packed this morning. There was a plaque ceremony going on so the Captain was there, but I don't think this was the only attraction. It is the perfect place to sit in comfort and watch the rain and the fog outside while we are waiting to see if the weather will improve enough for the tenders to take us ashore in South Queens Ferry.
  10. There were clearly disembarking passengers still on board at 11:00. I had taken the shuttle into town to do some shopping, and got back to the ship just after 11. At that time there were still crowds of people trying to leave the ship and collect their luggage, as well as folks in the queue to drop their bags and check in. I looked at this and couldn't see a clear path for me to get back to the ship. Luckily I must have been looking stunned as a kind gentleman saw me and escorted me back to the ship through the crew entrance. Phew!
  11. That's ridiculous! I gave it to her this morning. She wanted to put it out on one of the tables, but I told her to keep it in her little section otherwise it was bound to get lost. It is is the library - so do try again tomorrow and I will remind Ashley 🙂
  12. The Madeira book just had blank pages - lovely books, but for those of us who can no longer write in a straight line, not good for the job!
  13. Well we now have our Cruise Critic Queen Anne book. The Madeira one didn't work, so I will drop this one off at the library tomorrow morning so hopefully all of you onboard can sign it 🙂
  14. The TV was on when we got back to our room 🙂
  15. One of my blog followers suggested that we get a Cruise Critic book to keep in the library that we can all sign when we are on board. I spoke with the librarian and she is in favor of that, but just needs to check with her manager that that is OK. Does anyone on board have a suitable book that we could use? I am happy to use the note book we were given in Madeira, but if you have something better that would be great. It is such a shame that the QE2/QM2 book got lost during the COVID clean up of the library on QM2.
  16. No message on the bed alas. It is on the daily program, and Neil announced it at the end of the show. It is also on the TV. One of the time changes got quite confusing as it wasn't on the TV and Neil said we were going forward when we were actually going backward, and some of the ship's clocks didn't change. I miss those notes on the bed saying the ships clocks were being retarded. That's hard to miss!
  17. We thought that she was probably not up to speed with the clock change. I felt sorry for her!
  18. We did a bridge tour so I got to find out what is in that mysterious white area. It is crew cabins - so hopefully they will not be too noisy above you 🙂
  19. I totally agree that they should rethink the Wellness Studio and convert it into the Grills lounge, and have the current lounge as a terrace like on the QE and QV. It would take away from the space on the upper Grills Terrace, but I think it would be a better use of space. That being said, the Grills lounge is growing on me......
  20. Me too! And she has a lovely throaty whistle. Not up to QE2 standard of course, but really good, and Inger seems to like showing off the wonderful sound she makes 🙂
  21. I just checked out the area next to those 2 cabins. Next to 8019 there is a steward's closet, and the other 3 doors all say crew only, so not really helpful. I listened to find out if there was anything to be heard behind those doors, but I heard nothing and then decided to leave as a cabin steward was giving me funny looks. Sorry I can't be more helpful as to the risk of noise below :(. I am hoping to do a bridge tour so maybe I will be able to peek into those areas without getting thrown off the ship.
  22. But we still gave our whistle a good work out 🙂
  23. Here is the cheese trolley in PG on Queen Anne
  24. I agree, and although there were a lot of people there this afternoon, it didn't feel too crowded. It really was lovely sitting out on deck and having afternoon tea there. Let's see if there will be ice cream there tomorrow!
  25. The wait staff from the Cabana do circulate from time to time, but the bar is really close so we just pop over there to order the drinks, and then they deliver. Warmer weather is on the way - so I will be watching out for fruit and ice cream. They did serve afternoon tea on the terrace yesterday so that's a good sign.
