  1. The signature suite costs more than the Celebrity Suite because of additional amenities such as unlimited specialty dining, unlimited internet, premium beverage package, etc. Here's a link to Celebrity's web site that describes the various suites.

Sleeping arrangements would be a sofa bed.

I have stayed in both and I think the third person would be more comfortable in a Celebrity Suite. The Signature Suite has somewhat of a strange setup with the closet right outside the bathroom.

  2. I have been in suites several times as well as many balcony cabins. Believe me, Michael's Club IS NOT the reason to opt for a suite.

If you are in a suite, you can eat breakfast at Luminae which is full service unlike MC which is an abbreviated continental breakfast.

The beer is good but not 65 varieties. The bar service can be excellent or very slow - depending on how many people are there. Drinks are included but MC is usually an inside room and no one wants to sit in an empty dark place during the day and drink. Drinks before dinner are nice but then after 8:30, it's mighty empty again.

As far as good coffee, I will take the excellent coffee drinks from Cafe Al Bachio rather than from a Nespresso machine.

However, if you think a little extra cabin space is worth several hundred more dollars, go for it. For me, the balcony cabin with my Elite Plus perks are great.

I feel differently about Michael’s Club. We love it. On our recent cruise the bartenders treated us like family. We met so many wonderful people and it was such a wonderful experience.

  3. Absolutely, but a bit strange that one person keeps getting this when they are on Solstice and not a person on most other cruise line ships. Can believe ones is an accident but back to back, you are joking, the odds are better for winning the lottery.

If I went on board the ship and caught it, I would certainly sue, they have a duty of care and bookings in the UK can have that backed up in court.

The only way to make this ship safe is to take it out of service and have it clinically cleaned, every nook and cranny and every plug hole and drain. It is endemic now.

  4. I'm not sure about lower prices, but on one of our Adventure sails, there was a couple (gay) that spent part of 6 straight months on the ship. I remember one of the 2 always having a colorful pocketbook/manbag with him. Both dressed nightly very spiffy. Can't remember their names. I remember one of them being from Majorca and the other being from Danish royalty. Haven't sailed on the AOS in years and wonder if these 2 gents still sail for that long period of time in any given year.

They were on our repositioning cruise a few years ago from Copenhagen to Bayonne. They had a separate stateroom for their clothes.

  5. How long ago were you in Michael's Club? We just were on the Solstice from Vancouver to Hawaii and Michael's Club was amazing. There were many people that came to the club, especially during the afternoon and before dinner. The wait staff were so friendly and would get you your choice of beverage and if they didn't have it, they would search other bars to find it.

We met many wonderful people in Michael's Club.

I am sorry that you did not enjoy yourself.

Michael's Club is a quiet lounge that is a nice place for a pre-dinner drink. It is basically empty most other times. No views (no windows).

The concierge will get you reservations for a specialty restaurant but you can do that just as easy by yourself - and you can most likely secure a discount by yourself. The concierge will not get you a discount.

MC definitely should NOT a deciding factor in booking a suite.

  6. We just upgraded to an L1 Oceanview Crown Loft Suite on the Oasis. I have a question about automatic upgrades - if I select the "I prefer an automatic upgrade" option in the C&A preferences, is there any chance they would "upgrade" us to an L2 or an OS? I wouldn't say no to an upgrade to a Sky class suite (which I know is HIGHLY unlikely anyway, although apparently there is a Sky Loft available and our sailing is in a month so who knows), but other than that wouldn't want to switch rooms. Does anyone know where L1 CL falls in the hierarchy compared to L2 CL or OS?

An L1 is higher than an L2 because it is in a better location

  7. best to call royal to book after you have made final payment. If they

say too early, I check on line almost daily to see if they are available. Labadee or Barefoot beach. We always have been sucessful If you are in a suite, you might have to wait until you go into the suite lounge and book via the suite attendant

The cabanas on Barefoot Beach are not available by booking on line or calling. If you have a suite you book through the concierge.

  8. If you fly first class in some airports you have a separate line for the TSA.

A current thread (Summit to Bermuda) has a refererence to suite passengers having a separate line to access Customs.

    1) Is this true?

    2) Since when does the US Government provide separate access to its services based on paying more money than someone else? A particular concern since this a national security related preference

    3) Celebrity - if this is true, Celebrity speak up and identify how you arranged this with the Government

This is offensive to say the least.

  9. I believe X do offer upsells if booked through a TA as there have been posts confirming this in the past. Now if they call if you are outside the US or Canada is another matter ?

Last year Celebrity called us for an upsell (for a modest amount of money) to a signature suite on Reflection. We had booked through a TA and the revenue department said they were going to call our TA after they finished talking to me. We were in a Celebrity Suite.

  10. We had a wonderful experience on the Anthem in July in a Royal Grand Loft Suite. Our genie Jay was super. We are used to having a butler on Celebrity but Jay was even better.

We had no problems embarking in Bayonne. We went to the purple banner for the Royal Suites and there was a porter just for our bags.

They checked us in and called our genie to escort us to CK.

When we got to our cabin, our bags were there.

We had a suite guarantee and didn't get our room assignment until the day before our sail date. Jay sent me an email that night explaining everything that we should do when we got to Bayonne.

We didn't ask for much since it was just a five-night cruise, but Jay would check in with us wherever we were (he knew where we were eating).

We just loved our stateroom at the back of the ship.

RC called us when we got home to see how our experience was. I told them it was a once in a lifetime experience.

I am used to suites on other lines but this suite was superb.

  11. In Philadelphia and the suburbs, there are many BYOB restaurants. Some charge a corkage fee and some do not.

Really, I don't know of any restaurants where you can bring your own bottle from home and open it in the restaurant. Our family owned and operated restaurants . I am not saying it's not true but i sure never heard of this.:)
  12. It is Lahaina. Is there parking there?

    Thanks.

Without knowing where the OP comes ashore- there are two locations, Lahaina or Kahalui, giving an accurate answer is not possible.

That being said, there are MANY threads here on the parking situation at the two locations. The airport solution applies to the Kahalui port.

  13. We overnight in Maui and would like to rent a car for the two days.

What do you do with the car overnight? I realize we may have to pay a fee to park.

Has anyone had experience with this?

    Thanks so much.:)

  14. Thanks so much.

We were assigned this cabin temporarily until a SS1 became available and we moved.

At the time of assignment, I googled this Cabin because of the location (M-Class). There is a ping pong table area above the cabin and a storage area for the OV Café. Some reviews said it was quiet, except for some movement around 6 am and others reported that it was noisy from the ping pong table.

Mixed Reviews (from Quiet to Noisy)

Also - since on Deck 9 - there is an overhang. Again mixed reviews. Some loved the shade that the overhang provided, others wanted more sun, others felt the overhang supports were an obstruction to photo taking.

That was the jist of my research and then I was relocated and I never followed up with further investigation.

  15. I was assigned an accessible sky suite as part of a suite guarantee. Does an accessible sky suite also have access to Luminae and Michael's Club. I usually book regular sky suites and Celebrity Suites.

Can anyone reassure me that the accessible sky suite has the same benefits as sky suite.

Thanks so much for your help.

  16. I think that you might be mixing up the benefits one gets in a Royal or Penthouse Suite.

They do get the Elite coupons even if they are not elite.

But the mini bar has nothing to do with being elite. People in Royal and Penthouse Suites get complimentary mixers, water and soda.

We just upgraded ourselves from Aqua to a Sky Suite. Just wondering what we can expect in terms of the mini bar in the room, laundry, extra amenities.

I thought I had read somewhere that because we booked Sky Suite, we would be "honorary" elite passenger amenities. I don't see anything on the Celebrity site, however, I know that cruise critic members are often "in the know"!!!:):):)

  17. There is also a double closet in the bedroom on the wall before the bathroom.

There was plenty of room for everything we brought.

    Hello everyone,

We are sailing in a signature suite for the first time. We love the Celebrity Suite which has a walk in closet.

    My question:

What type of closet/storage does the Signature Suite have? I see quite a bit of drawer space and can see that there is also a wardrobe in the living room but it looks small. Thoughts?

    Thanks!

    Amy
