Does American Express Platinum offer that?

No I don’t think so. We had the platinum card and switched to Chase Sapphire. We had to use the insurance two years ago for three cruises and there was no problem getting reimbursed. The card also gives you primary insurance for car rentals.

  2. We were just on the Voyager cruise to New Zealand, Australia and Bali and did not know we left my Kindle in the stateroom when we disembarked in Bali. We were staying at the Ritz Carlton for two days and got a call from the ship telling us of the Kindle that was found by the stateroom attendant. Reception said the port agent would deliver the Kindle to the front desk at the hotel and it was there in a few hours. We were amazed at the professionalism and follow up by the crew of the ship. I just wanted to let everyone know how impressed we were by  the actions of Regent. We have over 27 cruises on over lines but this was the first on Regent. We did book another cruise onboard to South America and Antarctica.

Are you arriving Auckland on Jan 18th? I arrive at 5:30am. I didn't book a room, figured I'd do the Hop on Hop Off bus, but I'm curious how much the hotel is charging for your early check-in. Also, in case you're not the roll call for this cruise, a bunch of us are planning to meet in the Lobby Lounge of the Cordis at 5:00 for a drink.

    Jamie

Yes we are on the roll call and we are two of the people that will you you for a drink at 5 p.m. The hotel quoted $299 NZ for an early check-in. That is the same price for a room.

Since it's Regent arranging this, perhaps they'll arrange a brief bus tour or something for you pre-cruisers in Auckland?  Or they will arrange for the hotel to get you early check-in?  I'm thinking there will be something arranged, surely.  In any case, it's easy to have the hotel keep your luggage and then go off for a walk or to see a sight; despite your jetlag this is a good way to adjust to the time change.

No Regent has said that the check in time is 3 p.m. and there is no early check in. I have contacted the hotel and the extra night is not very expensive so I think we will do that.

    Thanks.

  5. We will be getting in at 6 a.m. at the Auckland, New Zealand airport and will be transported to our pre-cruise hotel by Regent. We are doing the three-night pre-cruise excursion package. Check in is not until 3 p.m. Have any of you ever booked a room for the night before so you would not have to wait until 3 p.m. to check in. We are traveling from Philadelphia and even though it is business class, I am sure we will be exhausted.

    Thanks.

  6. All you Regent experts, how could every category be waitlisted for a cruise in February 2021? It is the Bali to Hong Kong on the Explorer. Does that mean it is chartered?

How often do people clear the waitlist. Thanks for any information.

  7. I can attest that the Chase card which insures for $10,000 a person is a great benefit. Three years ago, I was very ill and had to cancel two cruises. Chase reimbursed (with the proper documentation) the total cost of the two cruises.

In addition to the Chase insurance, we have a yearly medical policy which handles evacuations.

  8. We will be getting off a cruise in Bali and need to be transported to the Ritz Carlton. Are there usually taxis at the cruise port or should we arrange private transportation?

    Thanks.

  9. We are looking for a transfer from the cruise port to the Ritz Carlton in Bali. Are there numerous taxis or should we arrange for a private transfer. We are getting off a Regent ship. Does anyone have a suggestion for a private transfer?

  10. My husband and I are on a 22 night cruise to Zealand, Australia and Bali in January. We are able to make reservations for the speciality restaurants in October. Do you have any recommendations for times, etc. We are on Voyager and in a Penthouse Suite. First time on Regent. I know there is a Captains Welcome Abroad, but when is it and what time? Any other events I should know about? We are longtime Celebrity cruisers so any help that you can give us would be appreciated. I already booked excursions and have flights.

I think I used to use the same big box retailer before I switched to a more full service TA. The gift cards at the one I used to use (snd I think the one they refer to) can only be used at their store. But it’s super easy to spend a lot there!  😂

I did get a small amount of OBC when I booked a cruise while I was sailing. And my current TA usually gives me some. Not as much monetarily if I had stuck with big box retailer TA, but that is the cost of service I guess. Worth it to me now. Wasn’t 10 years ago.

If it the same big box store that I use, the gift cards do not have to be used at the store. They will give you cash or a check if it is for a large amount. The TA told me if was Royal Caribbean and Celebrity’s decision since the money comes from them.
