  1. Yes, experienced butler but primarily on Solstice class. Seems very confident.
  2. Yes, since I am experiencing first day, first ship of the return, our butler is experiencing her first day on an Edge class ship...a few questions I had she will need to get back to me with answers. All good though.
  3. Just joined Ascent in a Sky Suite. Called Retreat Concierge with a request and was told they would alert our butler. I reminded her that we were in Sky Suite so didn't have a butler. Was told "Yes you do, starting today with the Ascent, butlers are back for all in Retreat." She said it will be gradually rolled out to the rest if the fleet.
  4. I disagree.Decision to renege on promise made to customers for refund option on Red Sea cruise is absolutely inexcusable and was a business decision. Similarly to raise prices and include shore excursion credit as part of Simply More was a business decision. To make matters worse, O added the restricted shore excursion credit and, based on our experience on Vista where I am currently passenger, have done little to beef up shore excursion options or capacity to deal with increased demand they are forcing.
  5. Important point is that Oceania has made some business decisions lately that are pretty customer unfriendly. Unwillingness to refund passengers for Riviera's significantly altered and potentially dangerous Suez Canal/Red Sea itinerary after initially promising to do so as well as the Simply More shore excursion restricted credit are a couple of them. When you have a high expectation due to a company's excellent customer service record and they suddenly and uncharacteristically treat you in a way you perceive as badly it can be especially shocking and disappointing. In other words if Ritz Carlton or Nordstrom tells you to go to hell it can be a lot more shocking and disappointing than if same message comes from Motel 6 or Big Lots.
  6. Your comment does not stand. AA sells their NY LAX and a few other routes in 3 classes First, Business, or economy in their specially designed A 321 planes.I fly the route often from JFK to SNA where I have family. Have sometimes been upgraded to business which has lie flat pod like seating. Have yet to be upgraded to first class which has one one seating in each row instead of the two two seating in Business.
  7. We tried to book return from transatlantic flying BCN to JFK for cruise from Miami to Barcelona leaving late next month. Was offered Delta non stop at the, but at a ridiculous additional surcharge. Ended up cancelling Regent air and booking United to EWR non stop using points instead, but in Premium Economy, since it is a day flight.
  8. Making me jealous. My state (NY) does not allow annual travel policies to be sold.🙄
  9. To my knowledge credit card coverage does not include coverage for pre existing conditions, so I would be reluctant to rely on it for any portion of my trip. If anyone can point out a credit card coverage plan that does not have a pre existing coverage exclusion, I would love to hear about it.
  10. Sure you can hypothesize that this well connected officer would lie to my face. However, I would be willing to bet that one of those Miami based plaintif law firms that specializes in going against cruise lines was only too eager to at least threaten and possibly got some settlement from O's deep pockets..thus the reason O gives for non enforcement.
  11. Perhaps legal advice to O was better to not touch stuff and just remind guests of policy not to hog loungers for long periods of unoccupied time. This is my 9th Oceania cruise and the first time I have heard a "no hogging chairs" message included in twice daily announcements by cruise director.
  12. Per a senior ship officer on cruise I am on now there is a reason O no longer removes personal items from loungers. I was told they lost a lawsuit someone brought against them for some valuable item they removed from a lounger. That item was then lost, thus O was successfully sued and paid damages, according to the officer.
  13. Per Vista Gen Mgr this new Waves menu is on Vista only. Will test it out before going fleet wide.
  14. I will ask head waiter types here on Vista whether this new menu is a test or if it definitely will be rolled out fleet wide.
  15. As far as I remember it has always been same.
  16. Noticed new menu at Waves...no more mahi filet...addition of ribs and a few other things.
  17. Sounds good Any noise from Deck 14 above?
  18. So much to like about Vista. Had a nice dinner at Toscana this evening (berry tirimasu is fantastic!) and pondered if we could cruise on this ship again given thin wall noise issue. Decided that if we were to sail her again, we would book PH in order to. get a larger room with hope that would positively impact noise issue.
  19. Just embarked Vista. Can hear specifics of conversation from neighbors through walls.Man in adjoining cabin also has contant cough. Likely two and done on Vista. What a shame.
  20. U.S, Two dollar bills may be cute and quirky and folks will remember you for them because they are unusual. However that is the exact reason I would never give them out to some crew member while cruising in a foreign country. They may not be accepted and worse yet, they are so unusual and rarely used that the person using them could be accused of trying to pass counterfeit currency. I would never subject a crew member to such a risk.
  21. Not necessarily. Huge problem for us and many others on Vista because, even at a normally moderate volume level, the tv noise was such that we had difficulty sleeping. Could be difficult to resolve unless you can ask the other party not to turn on their TV at all. And, the cruise line should have designed the ship so guests are not put in that position. This is not cheap college dorm or fraternity house situation, although unfortunately it resembles one.
  22. I noticed the less sweet taste for baked goods on Vista's new "bake while you watch" area next to Baristas. All of the baked goods were not to my taste...less sugar, less flavorful IMHO...more of a quality, subtle taste, perhaps, in the opinion of others. 🤔
  23. Vista has aa number of drawers, but they are not very big. Also several are in the bathroom. Not always the most convenient place and in the case of handicapped cabins, where the bathroom drawers are eliminated, there really really is a shortage of storage.
  24. Yes, but the thin wall problem remains even when TVs are tuned to a fairly moderate volume. Average volume conversations between guests in the room can even be heard (although IME words usually not distinguishable).
