This is one of my biggest fears, even during NON pandemic times. Can’t imagine being locked in and forgotten. Eeek.

I agree! I don’t drink wine and we’re bringing a couple bottles of our own to have in the cabin for my husband to drink all week. Photos are nice, but we can use OBC for that.

That’s good to know. I didn’t do the Premier Package because there’s a $100 each OBC from Princess if we booked the Princess Plus package. Since this is just a 7 day Ca Coastal cruise to Pacific Northwest, I felt the Princess Plus was fine, especially with the cruise credit. If we rebook our 10 day cruise to Alaska for 2023, I might consider the Premier Package. Having the restaurant options might be nice on a longer cruise.

And that’s why we canceled our August 8th cruise to Alaska from SF right before our final payment was due. Too many issue that we don’t want to possibly contend with. We’ll rebook one of these days! Princess already canceled our cruise for 2021. Sigh. Maybe three’s a charm.

Thank you. Everything you wrote here is precisely why we canceled and will wait until life on a cruise ship is back to “normal” or at least without the strict protocol you described above. I’m in no hurry. In fact, as much as I’ve loved my 13 or so cruises, they don’t appeal to me quite as much they used to. I didn’t think I’d EVER say that! Maybe it was all those days at sea on our 15 day voyage to Hawaii. Either way, I’m sure we’ll be craving a cruise in the future. Just not yet.

But rarely as long. Many times people don’t care if they’re quarantined when they’re feeling so crummy with the Norovirus. But usually now with vaccinated and boosted folks, often they don’t feel symptoms of Covid or very little. That makes it tough being confined to a cabin and not even the one booked.

That’s exactly the way I feel. We book midship Club Class mini suites and I don’t want to be downgraded to some smaller cabin on an isolated “quarantine ward” kept “out of sight”. Heaven forbid if Princess should have the negative press. Nor do I want to miss out on everything we paid for on the ship. I’m gonna wait!

Yes, I have. That’s isn’t a global pandemic, though. I was on a cruise on the Golden right after a Norovirus outbreak. For the first couple of days there were no salt and pepper shakers on the tables and we were served by staff at the buffet. Soon after it was back to normal.

Since I just canceled our 10 day cruise to Alaska for fear that I might find OUT what happens in quarantine, I’ll never know. I didn’t like what I read from previous passengers, though, hence part of the reason for canceling. Can’t wait until cruise lines can get to the point of treating Covid like the flu or a cold for fully vaccinated and boostered passengers. And NO Princess Jail, please. Not what we signed up for.
