  1. Every time for my 15 cruises since 1988. Swollen ankles. Doesn’t matter how much water or fluids I drink. We just got off the Navigator of the Seas and only drank water, Diet Coke, orange juice, coffee, etc. No booze. My ankles are back to normal at home. Guess it’s just what I can expect and always have.
  2. I had talked to RCI over a month ago requesting a topper or even two. I told them I knew foam toppers/eggcrates were no longer used. The guy insisted they were. Hmmm. Well, today I spoke to special needs and they confirmed the previous request was on my account and that I’m correct—no foam. But they will add the other type. She said the cabin steward should be able to put the topper(s) on before making up our bed. I hope so. Don’t want to make him remake the whole bed, although if it’s not soft enough, he will anyway. Sure wish they would just get new mattresses similar to Princess.

  4. I’ve cruised to Puerto Vallarta 6 or 7 times, the last was in 2017. There was a large flea market/shopping area right at the port. And next to that was a Mexican restaurant, at least some of it outdoors. We ate lunch there. We’ll be sailing to Mexico next month and want to eat there again. Does anyone know if the restaurant is still there? I have no idea what the name is.
  5. Sailing back up from Mexico there is that Japanese current that makes for rougher seas. And the ship is going faster. That said, our last cruise to Mexico in 2017 on the Grand Princess roundtrip out of SF was the SMOOTHEST voyage I’ve ever experienced sailing back! Couldn’t believe it. Felt smooth as ice. Unusual.
  6. Princess still required us to show a negative test at embarkation because we were stopping in Victoria and Vancouver. Of course, that’s no longer a requirement since Canada dropped its restrictions.
  7. October 9th we’ll be on the Royal to the Pacific Northwest. We visit Vancouver and Victoria.
  8. And it will help for our Pacific Northwest California Coastal cruise on October 9th. We stop in Vancouver and Victoria.
  9. Same here! Just in time for our October 9 Pacific Northwest Coastal cruise.
  10. Yes! I just heard as of October 1 the requirements will be dropped! Just in time for our October 9 cruise. Now I’ll cancel the PCR tests we have scheduled for October 6. And won’t need to upload all our vaccines in the ArriveCAN app! This makes me feel soooo much better. Thank you to so many Canadians who lifted their sleeves to take their jabs willingly.
  11. I JUST saw this on the news! Hurray! In time for our October 9th sailing! I confirmed it by looking at Princess website. I hope I can safely cancel our PCR tests on October 1. Want to make SURE before I do that!
  12. Since my husband misplaced his CDC vaccination card, I called Princess asking if we can take a screenshot of his CA.gov Smart card for ArriveCAN that shows all 5 of his jabs. The agent said yes. I hope that’s true. I don’t know why they WOULDN’T take it since it’s an official document from the government.
  13. President Biden said today that the pandemic is over, although COVID is still around, just not like it was before, especially with the vaccinations and continued boosters.
  14. We’re in California and will be sailing from San Francisco. We’ll drive to the port. We have appts. for the PCR on Thursday October 6 and embark on Sunday October 9. Fingers crossed the results are back in time. Hopefully by May 2023 the protocol in Canada will have loosened.
  15. Since we’re stopping in Canada on our October 9 cruise, we will need to get a COVID test. We don’t have any places that do rapid antigen in person unless you pay a lot, so we’re going to a local lab to do a PCR test.they said the results usually come back by the end of the next day. Medicare covers it. We’ll do it 72 hours before, so that should give us time before we embark. Has anyone here done a PCR test and had any issues getting the results in time for your cruise?
  16. So you can no longer order a beverage while watching a show in the Princess Theater?
  17. I love the milkshake-kind with chocolate and banana. And virgin piña coladas are good!
  18. Thanks, everyone! So if I buy the package now on sale, they charge my card, right? And if I find a cheaper price before the cut-off window, there’s a place to hit Cancel and then go back and re-purchase the lower priced package? The credit will show up on our statement within a week or so? It seems so early to buy this before our cruise next May of 2023, so I keep thinking they’ll have a similar sale before then…but I understand in today’s economy, who knows! Thanks again.
  19. We don’t sail on the Navigator of the Seas until May 2023, so I’m not sure if it’s too soon to purchase our Refreshment Packages. (Non-alcoholic). Right now they’re $22.99 a day per person. Is that considered a good deal? I don’t want to jump on it if there’s a chance there’s a better promo down the line. I thought I read where you can buy it and if a better price comes along, cancel it and buy the cheaper deal up until a certain date. Any thoughts from people who have bought these non-alcoholic packages and what I might expect in the way of a good deal? I realize that even $22.99 isn’t bad since we love those mock tails and milkshakes. Day and night. ☺️
  20. I always get insurance, but never through the cruise line.
  21. We sail on October 9, so I wish they WOULD extend it. Seems like they should go until the end of the year.
  22. You’re right! And during 2020 I could really see how much he missed those track and cross country meets. Yeah, we got hooked on Netflix and got in a lot of walks together. But, that can get awfully old after awhile.
  23. I saw the words “track meet” and immediately thought of my husband whose whole life is about track meets. First as an outstanding distance runner and then as a coach (also cross country) and now in retirement, a race timer with fancy timing equipment. We have to book cruises around track and cross country meets. So much for retirement. 😉
  24. That doesn’t make sense. So they don’t care if an infected passenger is outside his or her cabin roaming the halls, even if it’s a quarantine ward?
