  1. We were there last month on Golden Princess. The tender ride was about 15 minutes but it takes you to a port location that is quite a distance from the main part of the town. There is a small market at the port, the museum mentioned earlier, but not a lot else. There was a free shuttle bus which took you into the town, about 3-4 blocks from the big markets. The bus ride was another 15-20 minutes. You may have to wait up to 15 minutes for the next shuttle bus into town, so it could take close to 45 minutes to get there. There were taxis touting for business at the hotel where the shuttle bus stopped.

Did you have to get Vietnam Visa? I plan to book a cruise starting in Japan to Australia (Diamond Princess). It will have two port of calls in Vietnam (Nha Trang and Pho My). I hold a U.S. passport.

    Thank you.

  2. I plan to book a 22-day Princess cruise from Japan to Australia (Nov. 2017). There will be 2 ports of call in Vietnam (Nha Trang and Phu My). I hold a U.S. passport. Anyone knows if I need to get Vietnam visa for this cruise?

    Thank you.

  3. No, this is a case of "interporting" as is done frequently in Europe for Med cruises, where they sell cruises on the same ship with different embarkation ports (like Barcelona to Barcelona, and Rome to Rome) for the same cruise. Since the ship has not visited any foreign ports between Houston and FLL, there will be no customs or immigration, and there will be no need to "zero count" the ship.

Thank you for the explanation. :)

  4. The one thing positive that I can see with embarking passengers tomorrow will be the lack of disembarking ones. That will make everything go much faster. Have a great TA sailing folks!

So the passengers that were boarded in Houston are not require to disembark and then re-embark? I did a 14-day Caribbean cruise once (also sold as two 7-day cruise), and on the 8th day when we returned to FLL, all of us needed to get off the ship, then embark again (though no check-in procedures was required).

  5. There are hop on off buses operating in front of the main harbour area at base of hotel hafen which are multi lingual and cover the main city sites

Of course the main nighttime attraction of hamburg is the reeperbahn!

I found the link to the HOHO bus. http://www.viator.com/tours/Hamburg/Hamburg-Hop-on-Hop-off-Tour-Red-Double-Decker/d777-3880HAM01

There seems to be about 26 stops. Anyone knows which stop is the closest to the Princess cruise terminal? How long will it take to walk to the bus stop from the cruise terminal?

Thank you in advance for your assistance. :)

  6. Our cruise stop at Hamburg on May 5 will be from 7 a.m. - 10 p.m. We have visited Berlin in the past, so this time, we are thinking to just spend the day in Hamburg. I learned May 5 is a National holiday, and there will be a lot of people in Hamburg. Also, I heard starting after 4 p.m., there will be a lot of activities in the port area that are worth seeing.

I would like to get suggestions on what we can do/visit in Hamburg before 4 p.m.?

Thank you in advance for your suggestions. :)

I am thinking maybe we take the Hop on Hop Off bus for a complete round to see the city, and if time allowed, then get off at the city center to do some shopping.

    Questions:

    1. Is the HOHO bus stop within 10 minutes walking distance from the Hafencity cruise terminal?

    2. Which stop is the closest to the city center?

    Thank you.

  7. Our cruise stop at Hamburg on May 5 will be from 7 a.m. - 10 p.m. We have visited Berlin in the past, so this time, we are thinking to just spend the day in Hamburg. 8. I believe the ferry to Hamilton is more than 200 capacity. I think 350 capacity. The one they have been renting and using to St. George has 400 capacity for sure. Don't know if they will be renting that one again in 2016. People do line up to get on the ferry but it seems like they have enough capacity to take everyone whenever I have been there. Last year that was when 2 ships were docked the Summit and the Breakaway which has 4000 passengers.

Thank you for the information. :)

  9. I have never waited more than five minutes to get tokens or transportation passes at the cruise ship terminal. They usually have two windows open at the peak time.

They take US currency in Bermuda. I have never seen anyone pay cash for the ferry but I have read they will take cash on the ferry.

    Thank you for your information.

Our cruise ship will arrive on a Saturday and I plan to take the first ferry (9:30 a.m.) from Dockyard to Hamilton. Since it is the first ferry and I read each ferry can take only about 200 passengers, I am guessing there might be a lot of people in line to get tokens and/or in line to get on the ferry.

  10. The Blue Route ferry between Dockyard and Hamilton runs year round. The Orange Route ferry between Dockyard and St. George's runs during the height of the cruise season...April to October (exact dates vary from year to year).

From the links in this thread, I noticed the one-way fare for the Blue route is $4.50 token or $5 cash. I read on CC that the line at the Dockyard Info. center to buy tokens can be quite long, so I think I rather pay 50 cents more and just pay exact cash.

    Questions:

    1. Can I pay with U.S. currency (i.e. a $10 U.S. bill for the two of us)?

    2. Do I pay upon entering the ferry? Or at the ferry terminal, still have to get in a separate line to pay cash and then get a ticket?

    Thank you.

  11. This August, 18 of us (12 adults and 6 teenagers ) will have a port day in Kotor (8 a.m. - 5 p.m.), and I have a few questions:

    1. Is Kotor a port that require tendering?

    2. Is town center near the cruise port?

    3. What kind of transportation is available to go from port to town center?

    4. If we do not plan to climb the walls, any suggestions on what we should do/see there?

    Thank you for assistance. :)

  12. Anyone ever stayed at the Venice Resort Hotel (by airport)? We will be staying there pre-cruise for 2 nights (end of July).

If you know about the location of the hotel, please kindly advise what types of transportation are available going to the main area of Venice and to the cruise terminal. There will be 18 of us.

    Thank you for any information.
