Three ship day: Emerald Princess and Norwegian Gem from the Atlantic side, Silver Nova from the Pacific.

Three ship day in the canal with Silver Nova coming in through the Pacific side. She’s just now approaching the Pedro Miguel Locks, so you’ll pass each other. That should be very cool.

You’d think they’d want the workers to have some community access, as a contribution to the locally economy. Since it’ll be a hotel ‘barracks ship’, I don’t imagine gratuities are involved? I’m thinking that the hotel services would be provided by the company and their paid employees.

Maybe only crew and company representatives, if that qualifies as passengers? She does appear to be riding a little higher in the water compared to some of her pictures on Marine Traffic. She’s still at the Pacific Anchorage as of this morning.

Which is exactly why I want to do the ferry excursion, to have that ‘closer to the water’ experience I’d not get even from the Panamax cruise ship. And I’m definitely going to be one of those people who will be ALL over the ship. I think the one best things about the ship I’m doing the full transit on is its wrap around promenade deck. Plenty of protected space to get the feel of the canal operations at lock gate level while staying out of the sun.
