  1. I think SEASIDE looks amazing, but I agree the cabins are lackluster. The theme with cabin comments seems to be disappointment overall. For such a prototype ship, the cabins are a bit of a throwback. Mainly it's the dated looking decor, but even the layout is meh. I've felt this way long before actual pictures were released. Even in the renderings the cabins looked dated and the same color schemes made it from renderings to reality, so no surprise there. It's just the style of the designer I supposed. If they are clean and comfortable I'll be fine, and I'm sure they are.

Now for forward thinking and looking cabins, look no further than CELEBRITY EDGE.

I honestly think that MSC thoughts may have been to make the outside areas so appealing and grand that you wouldn't stay in your cabin, meaning you would spend more money out and about the ship and so the cabins did not need the same WOW factor.

For us its about the ship, not the cabin and so we are fine with what we have seen. (we are in a AFT cabin in April)

  2. Here is my take on this. The area needs a cut-off age, I am really surprised it is not 18 and over so that it is truly an adult experience.

Every parent thinks there should be an exception made for their kid, I probably would have as well when mine were that age but a rule is a rule and if I approach the area and there is no place for me to sit (this may certainly happen due to the seating available vs. cabins accessibility) and I see a few teenagers taking up the seating, no matter how well they are behaving I will expect to see MSC remove them from the area where they, by the rules they have created, are not permitted.

If there are plenty of loungers available and they actually are just sitting there reading or listening to music I am fine with it.

  3. good day

was able to log on with my Seaside booking today - nice - itineary is correct -

HOWEVER - all the entertainment / restaurants / bars / dining are all of the Meraviglia -

    -

    Mine are all Seaside.

  4. I just tried on the app and it won’t let me. Says only for Meraviglia at this time.

Some are posting that they deleted the app and downloaded it and it works

  5. I have 13002 for Feb 10, can’t wait for floor plan and pics. Do you think it will be two sliding doors/windows to the side balcony?

I have no idea. Hoping iwe can walk around to the front and side

Only one sliding door. You can see in actual pictures that the narrow side is a window.

  6. I'm assuming that is the corner of the bed close to the wall. If so, where is the closet? I thought it might be on that wall but if that's the bed, it looks very close and no room for a closet.

That looks like the closet across from bed which means there would be cabinetry or couch next to closet under the large window. Just my guess but it is the only thing that makes sense to me.

  7. Day 2, Looking out from Inside 14262. Picture 1 is the window in the curved wall. Bear in mind that at this point this cabin was not finished.

I guess this ends the debate from months ago if these curved windows we see from outside are part of the cabin or not. I love that they are. They must be what you see when you enter your cabin's small hall way.

I will go look for that post Sid, it was so long ago it must be pages back.

  8. Greetings, I have been searching to no avail !!! we were thinking of the MSC Divina TA from Rome to Miami in October 2018. The port prior to Miami is NYC (close to our home), the port prior would be Bermuda. Does anyone know if we can disembark in NYC instead of going to Miami and then having to fly back? I would appreciate any and all comments on the feasibility of doing so/and how to do so.............many thanks....(ps - it says on the itinerary, Red Hook for Manhattan, but I believe from a search on the pier activity, that it would actually be NYC)..........

You need to ask MSC not us. US custom regulations are very different here in the US and some ports may not allow it

  9. I don’t know the ins and outs of ship building. But what is the legal “turning over”? Is that the day the ship is complete and MSC officially takes ownership??

It’s just strange to me that the staterooms aren’t turned over but all the other areas are!

Here is Mark’s post from yesterday in Facebook

“ "Finished" photos of cabins are still a week or two away. Please keep in mind that everything has to be loaded on board,Laundry needs to be operational, Crew fully trained and in place, and all cabins MUST pass the final inspections with ZERO remarks from our side.As soon as we have cabins that are fully set up I will post , I Understand and appreciate the anticipation and would not like to ruin it by posting photos that do not show the true beauty of this ship, Public Areas,Open Decks and Cabins.”

  10. When is Seaside's first cruise? I.e. when do we finally start seeing cabin pictures? :)

The Director of Housekeeping on Seaside told us on Facebook that they are not allowed to release photos of the staterooms until they have been turned over to MSC for final preparations. He was expecting that to happen a week ago but so far, no photos.

  11. There is a post on MSC's FB page about the Seaside. Someone commented and said they would like to know what the layout of their aft suite looked like.

MSC actually replied with the following:

"The best things are worth waiting for! We want to make sure we provide the best pictures possible to show you :) Patience is key while we're perfecting your stateroom."

So, as aggravating as it is, at least it isn't just an oversight by MSC. They are apparently purposely not releasing the details. Now, as to the real, internal reason, who knows..

Except Mark (Head of Housekeeping for Seaside) posted on FB that they are not allowed to release photos unil the shipyard turns that portion of the ship over to MSC. He expects that to happen any day and has promised photos as soon as MSC controls the cabins.

I tend to believe this as that is the same thing that happened when Disney built their last ships. No pics of areas until DCL controlled them.

  12. Antigua did some expansion work on its cruise facilities to accomodate the Quantum Class last December, so they

    can handle Seaside.

I think anything after the already announced changes to cruises will probably stay. San Juan is already embarking ships for both Royal and Carnival and Royal Announced today that after a very thorough inspection of the port, they will begin sailing out of St. Maarten again in November.
