  1. We are on your cruise, and received the email as well. See you in 2 weeks!!!

Hope you hop over to our roll call and say hello!

We have a few things planned :-)

It says it is for 14 days but it is the right roll call for 14 or 7 day :-)

    Hope to see you onboard!!

    Welcome to Cruisecritic!

  2. May I ask what surprises you about it?

I thought the emails had stopped. I have read several posts on the board stating the emails have not been sent.

So I was surprised that we got one when we had not been getting the usual pre-cruise emails.

I was not complaining about anything. Looking forward to the movies and to the Mardi Gras Party :D

  3. Just got the pre-cruise entertainment email for my Regal cruise in a couple of weeks.

    I was very surprised.

Star Wars and Bridge of Spies were listed as media that will be on our cruise.

We are also having a Mardi Gras Party

  4. Princess has a limited number of non-alcoholic options on their bar menus which I have sampled but I have also requested some traditional drinks to be served alcohol free such as:

    Strawberry Daiquiri

    Banana Daiquiri

    Pina Colada

    Strawberry Colada

    Margarita

    Strawberry Margarita

Has anyone had success with requesting other non-alcoholic off-menu options and what were they?

    Princess Smoothie

  5. Keith - did either mention if they are carrying additional insurance? That is my big hang-up (not my son's - he uses Uber everywhere up in DC) after reading an article in the financial section of the Washington Post providing guidance to Uber/Lyft drivers to make sure they carry more insurance than just a 'normal' policy since they are engaged in a business. I gathered from that article that Uber/Lyft did not make that a requirement.

Here in south Florida that worries me even more since when we moved here and our insurance rates increased dramatically, USAA said one of the major reasons was the number of uninsured drivers on the road (along with the number of unlicensed drivers on the road).

Once a driver picks up a passenger, UBER's insurance coverage take effect. The driver's personal policy is not used.

  6. I know that the Sawgrass Recreational Park is about 30 minutes from the La Quinta on North 20th Ave in Hollywood, FL. I'm looking for the best, least expensive way to make this trip. It will be around 2:00 PM, if that matters.

Any suggestions? Thanks for any help you may be able to give me.

    Try uber

Checking Uber it looks to be around 30 one way.

I would check into renting a car for that amount.

  7. We'll be on the Regal in a few weeks. What is Crab Shack? And is it lunch or dinner?

    Thanks!

We have not been yet but the Crab Shack is held in a section of the buffet. They serve shellfish. I think of a boil bucket. It is not held every night and there is an extra fee.

We are same on the same sailing :-) Stop over and say hi on the roll call :-)

  8. In about two weeks, we'll be back in Fort Lauderdale for another cruise...

We usually have ended up staying at the Springhill Suites in Dania for one reason or another (Marriott points, for example), but this time, we'll be across the street at the Hampton Inn. We've often had a rental car (having flown into MIA), but this time, we're flying in to FLL so we'll just take the hotel shuttle from FLL...and, we plan on just lounging around the hotel--no need to do any sightseeing or shopping. So, the only real question is where to eat. When we haven't had a car, we've just eaten in the Oakwood Center--convenient enough...at Sal's--though we even just had McDonald's one trip. The other restaurants there--like TGI Friday's and Red Lobster--are things we can get anywhere--even near our house back here in SoCal (yes, I know Sal's is a chain--but not in our area...and I am aware Hollywood Ale House is one of several as well--but, again, not near us)...So, the question is: Is Hollywood Ale House any good? Worth going to for a casual pre-cruise dinner?

Second question: I am an Uber newbie...I have heard that the Hampton has a shuttle to the pier--but charges $10 per person. How much would Uber charge to go from this hotel to the pier? Or do they even do that in Fort Lauderdale? And, how about the ride back from the pier to FLL (We have a 1:45 pm flight on disembarkation day)...

    Thanks...

Says it should be $10-12 from your hotel ....

    can't help with the restaurant.

  9. Just diet coke. It is for soda from the soda gun... They do have sprite Zero in cans but those are not included in the package.

Soda and More includes soda from a can... I overdose on the Root Beer. They will not give you the can but you can ask for a large cup:-)

  10. Can you also get an Uber from the airport (FLL), or are they not allowed?

Here are the pick up locations for Uber at the airport.

    ?format=750w

It was $11.17 including the $4.50 airport fee to the Embassy using UberX. Larger vehicle will be a little more

The driver will call and ask where you are and what you are wearing.

You will know what type of car to look for once your driver accepts your request.
