  1. Stand in the "Chauffeured/ Drivers for Hire" area. It was in front of the hotel shuttle area, near the center loop.

Uber charges by time and mileage. Even though tips are not required, you can tip if you feel they need to be compensated more.

  2. We did not have a surge using when we went about 10:30.

Riders can see when there is a surge. You can wait a few minutes to see if it passes.

We asked for a car before we got an elevator down. The car arrived before we could get an elevator. At the Embassy wait until you are on your way down...getting an elevator is worse than getting a car from Uber :-)

  3. I have some very specific questions. I'm trying to decide on using port parking or an off site lot. Specific answers would be very useful. We will be self debarking as early as possible either from Princess or Holland.

What is the typical or average wait time for a shuttle? Many times they are waiting for you

What is the longest time we might reasonably expect waiting for a shuttle?5 to 10 minutes

Do the shuttles go directly back to the lot or is there a chance they will visit other terminals to pick up passengers before going to the lot?We have always been taken directly back

What is the typical time from the terminal to the lot?10-15 minutes depending on traffic

I understand shuttles usually help passengers off the shuttle and assist in loading their luggage. Will we spend a lot of time waiting until we get to our car? No. They do not usually help load your car. Atleast in our experience

If you decide on Park n Go...get their Frequent Parker card to earn free days

  4. Can someone let me know their fair going from FLL to Port Everglades directly? I can use the fair estimator but not sure how it works with the surcharge. Would it be just the $4.50 for pickup at FLL or would it also include the $2 surcharge in the port? Does the surcharge only apply to the pickup location? Thanks!

I can tell you that our charge from FLL was 11.17 (without a discount) to Embassy Suites. That included the 4.50 FLL surcharge. When we were dropped off at the port, there was no surcharge.

  5. What are we talking price wise for a Uber XL from FLL to Miami Downtown hotel. Our flight lands at 3:05pm so not rush hour but also not middle of the afternoon.

If not Uber what do you recommend for transport? Family of 4 with luggage

I have gotten a suv with UberX but there is no guarantee that you will get one if you just use UberX

Here is where you can get an estimate

  6. We tried to use Uber this morning to go from FLL to Embassy Suites on SE 17th St. Waited 10 minutes for a driver that was coming to pick us up and then all I got was a receipt for $0.00 and an email that said congrats on your first Uber ride. Not a good first time Uber experience. We ended up taking a cab.

Yikes...that would be a bad first impression...sorry you had a bad experience

  7. Is there any place in the port to pick up wine in between the cruises? We are doing back to back on different ships, Port everglades. The first cruise is Royal Caribbean, I had also thought about bringing four bottles on and asking them to store two. Any suggestions?

    Thanks

    Not in the port.

Total Wine is close by. Short Taxi/Uber ride away

  8. Bumping this to get clarification: I can take uber from Mia to the port, correct? Going down a week from tomorrow and thinking of trying it--have always done taxis.

    Yes

if you need a first timers code feel free to use mine uberjmrteacher

    Have a great cruise!

  9. Are there any problems getting an Uber pickup at one of the SE 17th St. Hotels(i.e. Embassy Suites) to go to a Princess ship at Dock #2?? I know it's a pretty short trip and like some taxi drivers, they may not want that low a fare?

No, we did exactly that in December. Drivers do not know where they are taking you until they start the ride.

Your ride might be short but then they might pick someone up from the port after they drop you off which might be a good money ride.

If even though Uber drivers do not expect a tip, if my ride is short or if I get good service (help with bags) I will tip them.

I hope you have a good cruise...get a room that ends in 15 though 19 to have a view of the port :-)
