Hello all,
Would anyone be able to give me an idea of approximately how much it will cost to take an Uber from the Ft. Lauderdale airport to the Miami International airport for 4 adults and 1 child with at least 4 luggage bags and 3 carry-on bags?
I used http://uberestimate.com/
to see that it should be between $65-85 (using UberXL)

Do anyone know if 6 people can ride in the uber cars, I will need a ride from FLL to downtown Miami hotel.
You will need to use UberXL for 6 people.
RIDEAA gets you $20 off your first ride....

Thanks so much for this clarification! Would the 4 of you have had to use 4 different credit cards and 4 different uber accounts?
Also, are these particular discount codes good anywhere (ie. Canada) or just in Fort L area?
The codes are for your first ride anywhere.
You would need four different Uber accounts. I am pretty sure you need different credit cards.
I know the Capital One Quicksilver offers a 20% statement credit for each Uber ride.

We used EZ Check on our last cruise (FLL). It was great. When they send out the departure information during your cruise, they include the ezcheck info. I had printed out an extra copy of our flight confirmation to attach to our request.
We received our flight luggage tags with our disembarkment paper work. The fee also included our boarding passes. The best perk of all IMO is no weight limit. I stuffed that luggage as full as I could get it. We did have a bag marked "heavy" with no extra fee.
I was able to track our bags using the airlines baggage tracking system and was happy to see that our bags made it on our flight.
My DH wondered why we had never done ezcheck before...we will be doing it as often as we can....

I have packing bags and envelopes purchased from Eagle Creek and love them. Very light weight and they hold a lot. Last September my husband and I traveled for over a month with one large suitcase each and a very small carryon. We did a Baltic cruise, spent time in London and then did a 13 day land tour through northern Italy.
My goal was to use only 1 suitcase per person and I did it managing to stay under 50 lbs. They are so great and keep your suitcase so organized. That was important to us as our land tour involved staying in 4 different hotels.
These days I can't imagine packing without them. In addition it was very freeing to not have to manage multiple suitcases throughout our trip.
I love my Eagle Creek pack it systems. I also like their luggage. I find the ones on clearance (prior year items)

Store your luggage at the airport (baggage claim level) and explore Ft. Lauderdale...go to a movie...

Uber found me easily in the close by "private pickup area" two weeks ago at Port Everglades
We got picked up from the private pickup area also :-)
No problems!

Can more than one person use this code? I have seen several codes and are planning to use Uber for the first time in Miami for our Fort Lauderdale Equinox cruise on February 22. I have written a couple down but don't want to get there and find out the code has already been used and is no longer available.
The codes that have been posted are for first time riders only. Each code can be used unlimited amount of times.
So you can pick which code you want to use without the fear that "it has been already used".
What my husband and I did was to each use a first time code so we got to use two. One for him and one for me.
If you were traveling with 4 people each person could use a first timers code. (all the same one if you wanted) (4 free rides)
I hope this helps!

We use wine diapers. If the bottle breaks then is absorbed in the padding in the bag.

Can i request a car seats from them ? I have a 2 year old and not planning to take my car seats with us, will Uber have that service ?
Uber does not provide car seats. Perhaps look into a travel car seat?

I'd like to use UBER next week to get from FLL Airport to a downtown Miami Hotel. What's the best meeting spot to get a ride at the airport?
We met our drive in the chauffeur/for hire area near the hotel shuttles. My driver did not know which terminal my airline flew into. So perhaps make a note of which terminal you are near.
Sometimes if the traffic is heavy the GPS will not show the exact location of you or the driver.
Hope you have a great cruise!

We used UberX from the FLL to Embassy suites. It was a corolla. (my first experience with Uber) It was better than a taxi
The next morning we used UberLux. It is was a new Infinity SUV.
After the cruise we used UberX to take use to the museum so we could spend time before our flight. It was a nice Tahoe.
From Las Olas to the airport we used UberX and it was a Camry. The outside was very nice but the inside had cuts in the Upholstery. Not anything worse that a taxi might have but not as nice as the other vehicles.
All of drivers were nice and I felt safe.
Looking forward to using Uber again when we go on our next cruise :-)

Very nice place to stay, however on cruise morning the elevators are a problem, hint, use the bank of three in the back of the building instead of the two that go down to the lobby.
When we stayed in December 2015 even those were hard to get. We stayed with the bellhop and our luggage to get on the elevator (After waiting 20 minutes for the other front elevators)
Once we got an elevator he was able to override the elevator to get us directly down but the trick was get one to stop at our floor (10th)
We did not have a problem getting down for breakfast so maybe the trick is to bring down your luggage to breakfast and leave from there.

Upper level rooms give great views....room numbers **15-**19 face the port
The downside to upper level rooms.....getting an elevator to leave. Plan on waiting 20 minutes for an elevator. It was crazy.

Meet your Uber driver in the chauffeur area of the airport (not by the taxi stand)
Download the app and enter your credit card before you arrive.
There are several codes on these boards.
Feel free to save $15 on your first ride with my code uberjmrteacher.
If you have any other questions, please ask! :-)

Is Uber that much cheaper? Just asking.
Keith
The one thing I really liked about Uber is that the drivers use GPS to get to my destination so I felt we were taking the most direct route while in a cab the driver might take me for a ride around the city to increase the fare.
FLL to Embassy Suites was $11.17

I just downloaded uber on my Iphone 6 and my question is should I put my credit card and promo code in now or when im standing at the pier waiting for a uber driver in a couple weeks? thank you
You can put in your code now or closer to your travel date. I would not do it waiting for the driver because they usually call to get your exact location or a description of what you are wearing.
FYI...capitalone quicksilver credit card gives you 20% off statement credit for Uber

Thanks for all the answers and tips!
Were a family of four with 3 big luggage and maybe a prampack (in worst case).
So we will need a big van anyway!
Just FYI UberXL should be able to handle you and your party :-)
-
We have parked there several times. Be sure to register for their Frequent Parker Program. 10 paid days means one free day.
Bring a valet key to keep your house key etc with you.
I checked the mileage the first time we parked there and there were no problems.
Be sure to look for the Monkeys when you leave the lot :-)
-
Check and see if they waive the weight limit too. On Princess your bag can weigh anything without a heavy charge. :-)
-
We had a good experience with Uber.
There are codes out there for your first ride free.
The code uberjmrteacher will get you $15 off your first trip.

The Museum of Discovery and Science has an IMAX and some good exhibits. My kids loved it when they were younger.
My DH and I went there in December and had a blast. Great Museum and they were playing Star Wars in the IMAX screen.
I would recommend it for big kids too! :) :)
