  1. Haven't seen any cancellations or itinerary changes on the Splendor for this date. However, Joses track has now changed and is putting it on a path to the Bahamas... on Saturday...

Not thinking this cruise is going to happen without an itinerary change... we will need to get out of dodge quickly on embarkation day and head west... perhaps may end up being a one port Cozumel cruise...

  2. i can click add insurance, but here is the message which pops up

    Vacation Protection Plan

Insurance for guests may not be modified within penalty period. Please undo all insurance modifications to continue.

Well then, it looks like I was given wrong information and we can't add it... crap

  3. where do i find this under teh reservation, i will do the same thing. at least then they will fly you to next port etc... if you miss the ship

Look at your details on your reservation. it is under where it shows paid in full

It shows 'add extras" and "add insurance"

  4. i called about insurance and it has to be booked 14 days prior to cruise start... wouldnt let me book it

I was told a while back by Carnival that you could book it right up until a couple days before.

Crap... I wanted to get it added but kept forgetting... not just for this storm, but in case of medical issues as well... messed up this time.. i have been getting the insurance on my cruises for years... oh well , too late now...

It is still showing up my reservation.. I may try to add it and see what happens...

  5. After 20 NCL comped cruises, we sent a screenshot of a certificate for free cruise from CET to URCOMPED and recieved free cruise on MSC Divina. We will be sailing soon. No port charges, taxes, or administration fees. Only a $ 400 deposit that turns into OBC and is refundable at the end of the cruise. Free drinks in the casino, we did loyalty status match to their highest level and will receive all the perks associated with that. They comped us an inside cabin, changed that to an OV gty, and then moved us to a large wellness balcony cabin. Even with having to pay for airfare to florida, and hotel room, it is costing us much less than a comped NCL cruise.

Try them, you have nothing to lose.

    Safe sailing

Were you able to choose the ship and sailing date/ Did you have to book right away?

  6. I've been following this closely myself in regards to hurricane's effects on cruise schedules. I am amazed at all the people that risk their cruise being cancelled or deverted by booking at this time of year. I will gladly pay a bit more and sail during "high season" . I usually only sail January or February and we sometimes get rain and wind storms, but never a hurricane. I'm sure people book during hurricane season for a variety of reasons, work schedule and cost probably being a main factor. I just hope you all have trip insurance. Even in the winter months, I would never sail without it, because you just never know---**** happens. Good luck to you all, and I hope you make your cruise!

Of 28 cruises sailed, and one coming up in 10 days, I think 23 of them have been in the Sept/Oct. timeframe... mostly September. Why? Several reasons, cost is definetly one reason, i can pay about half the price, and use that money for expenses, tours, airfare... etc etc. Then, less kids onboard. i love kids. I have 5 grandchildren, 2 adults, a 4 year old, a 3 year old, and a 2 year old. So anyone who wants to post negative responses (not you) don't bother. Also, the weather is still hot, and the seas are warm like bath water in some places.

September is my favorite time of the year to cruise.

That being said, only 3 have been rerouted, and none cancelled. We were on one cruise where we were scheduled to go east, and went west. Only to have more storms pop up. 3 hurricanes and one tropical storm at the same time.... We did have to come through tropical storm "Georges" (I think) while passing Cuba on the way home... it was quite the ride.

I haven't lost any money or vacation time with these cruises.

So now, we are leaving on the 14th, Bahamas, not sure where we may be headed as they may be facing catastrophic damages... my prayers are with those on the islands and anyone else this monster may affect...

Hopefully, we will be on a ship and the Captain will find somewhere for us to go... I know he will keep us safe.. no worries there..

  7. We are cruising on a 4 day Bahama cruise leaving on 9/14. Watching both Irma and the one brewing right after.... forgot to add insurance to my booking.. is it too late?

Also, since it is only a four day, wondering if they reroute us Western... will we have any stops? or maybe will it become a longer cruise?? Who knows... after most cruises that I have taken, only a few out of the 28 have been rerouted. Never cancelled.. and all worked out fine... With the Bahamas being in Irmas path, they could sustain much damage... prayers for all in Irma's path.

  8. Well, here is my experience. I had the offer earlier this year. Close to May. I didn't book until offer had run out. I only paid my deposit. So, I got the offer again from 7/5 to 12/31. I called to see if they would possibly let me add the preivous charge to the a new one which would make the total needed to get the credit. Still on the same cruise. I was put on hold, and waited, and then she came back on the line and said yes, they would let me combine the two to meet the total and I would get the 100 dollar credit on my statement. I asked her if that was definite and she said yes. (keep in mind that all conversations are recorded). So, i made my payment, and the credit didn't show up. So a few weeks later, I called. I was told no, I would not get the credit even though I only used that card, because i was told I would. They "escalated" it. Still no. they said they would put me through to their online promotions dept. because they could decide further. I was transferred, and after several "hold, i am still checking" got disconnected. So the moral of the story is, they will not make any exceptions on previously amts posted. Even if they tell you they definetly will, before you make the added payment.

  9. The casino will be crowded and smoky. It may be open longer hours, as well as in some ports. There are usually drawings in the casino at 8 and 11Pm, as well as other promos like hot seats that could start at 10:30.

Free dinners are not a given, they are linked to how much and how long you have been playing.

You will have a casino welcome party during sailaway to explain many of the activities, as well as get schedules and other stuff delivered to your cabin upon embarkation and throughout your cruise.

uh oh... we may miss the welcome party.... we love the sailaway party and don't want to miss it:)

  10. I am booked on a Premier Cruise and was considering changing cabins. I was told that if I changed cabins that I would lose the promotional rate, since that particular offer had expired.

So, my question is... have you ever received an upgrade or upsell call on a cruise that was booked at a Premier rate?

Or have you ever gotten a free cabin upgrade upon embarkation? I'll be fine either way... but would kind of like to be in a bigger cabin.

Someone will probably respond to always book what you will be happy with. I am happy with my cabin and location... so there is really no problem. Just checking:cool:

  11. Also very confused. Any Carnival transfer I have take is always $25 plus per person. So $107 out of pocket for 5 people should have been cheaper...

Not all transfers from Carnival are the same... for instance, their transfer between FLL and MIA is $36 pp.

  12. One time we were cruising out of SanJuan... and a Hurricane was headed there. When we left the airport to go to the ship, on the bus, people were all boarding up their windows. We had no idea there was a hurricane coming. this was only our third cruise... didn't even pay attention to the weather back then, except the sunshine:cool:. Well , anyway, on the bus, they told us that a storm was headed our way. And we would get further info when we boarded. We were supposed to head out at 10pm. Instead, they had signs posted to be back onboard a 4 and this ship is sailing at 6. So we left early, it was pouring down raining. Many people missed their cruise. So, we headed south. Our first stop was supposed to be St. Thomas, but that would put us directly in the path of the hurricane.

So they went up and around the other side of Puerto Rico, with intentions of sailing all the way down to Barbados and coming back up. Reversing our itinerary to miss the storm.

Well. guess what? The hurricane decided to change its path to. I am pretty sure we were in the outer bands or very close to it. It was a rough night. But by morning, we were sailing on seas that looked like glass. Ended up being a perfect cruise.
