Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Just off 1st Oceania cruise. It was not our vibe but we choose for the Panama canal experience which was so informative and interesting. So much hype about the food which did not live up to its reputation. The quality was okay. In speaking to many long time loyal O guests the complaints were many and they quite upset. Tuscan steak was mediocre and underwhelming. I will say that the exception were the desserts which were consistenly good and wonderful variety. Working on a cruise ship must be intense and exhausting and the crew seemed overworked and quite distracted. Our boarding was quite delayed due to an outbreak onboard on previous sailing. Perhaps many crew were still ill? I found it difficult to relax when it is so apparent that the crew appeared to be exhausted and overworked. We were in an A1 room which was quite small and we are still laughing about the size of the 'shower' if that is what it is called. I guess this ship is a holdover from the old R cruise line and boy does it show.
  2. Hi Growlers I called this morning and they were happy to speak with me. Listen to the promts which distinguishes your cruise if booked directly with O or with a TA
  3. Good Morning Just wondering ...this is what is showing on my account for the cost of the drink package: PRESTIGE SELECT - WINE, BEER & SPIRITS Unlimited premium spirits, champagne, wine and beer wherever and whenever you wish. $699.50 ($69.95 per guest, per day Gratuity Included) Also, do they charge tax on the tips? If so if you pay in cash you would avoid the taxes? Seems unlikely but thought I would ask. Thank you
  4. Many thanks to proton-excitement for posting sampe menus from all of the restuarants. I am now officially so excited to join the O fan club.
  5. Thank you for all of the thoughful and insighful comments. We will try the MDR as we prefer and appreciate the service and the surroundings of a classic dining room. I am confident that we will love every thing that O has to offer.
  6. Thank you for all of the helpful and insightful comments and comparison to Celebrity. We only book cruises in the Carribean and our last 4 cruises have been with Celebrity. We were booked on Crystal which was cancelled a few days prior to sailing when they filed for bankruptcy. On Celebrity we only dined at Blu or speciality restuarants and loved the intimacy. We are scheduled to sail on Sirena from the Panama Canal to Miami in March and all of the comments are so helpful as we prepare for a new experience. Our TA was instrumental in convincing us to try O. I have already made some poor decisions not understanding the O culture and customs onboard. I did not understand that most guests eat in the MDR and we can only schedule 2 reservations for Tuscan Steak prior to sailing. We also plan and schedule our own land tours/ plans in each port. Thank you in advance for any and all suggestions for the O newbies!
  7. Thanks for the info. We are looking at this cruise for December. Is it typically 'choppy' at that time of year?
  8. We ship a case of Evian to hotel pre cruise and we are ready to go.
  9. Ship: Silhouette Length of Cruise: 10 day Cruise Sail Date: March 13, 2023 Date email offer received: Dec 15, 2022 and 2/21/23 Captain’s Club Tier : Classic Booked through Celebrity Direct OR via TA: TA Current Cabin: Aqua Bid? Yes/No: Not Sure If YES - Bidding Details: Cabin Category: Royal 3k pp Sky $ 1,080 pp Celebrity Suite 2125 pp Sunset 2,660 pp Bid Offer Notification Date: General Comments Received 2nd email. When you attempt new booking for Sky they are unavailable. Don't think 2k just for better restuarant is worth it.
  10. I called Celebrity and the person to whom I spoke emphatically stated that it was room only and not Luminae. I know that we maintain our booking perks but the difference (for me)is going from Blu to Luminae. I will reach out to our TA to triple check. Thanks all.
  11. Thank you. Interesting. I only stay in suites for access to the Dining not for the room. So happy I discovered this before bidding!
  12. Not sure where to post this question/comment regarding room upgrade/bid process. Was ready to submit an upgrade offer until I discovered that the upgrade to a higher suite ONLY includes the room NOT the benefits. Has this always been the policy?
