  1. We were in Kristiansand in on September 15. 2009, on the Tahitian Princess. It was the first half of a b2b cruise from NYC to Cape Town. Fortunately, our day was sunny and cool. The town is surprisingly flat with low hills outside of town. It is on the southeast part of Norway. The town is an easy walking town. To get from the port to town, we took the little tourist train. There is a lot centered around the cathedral and the square in front of it. Some of the buildings and sights from our walk. For the Garden Club and others. The building with the vines on the side is the cathedral We walked through their market Town from the ship The coast as we sailed to the next port. Lenda
  2. Good morning from Quartzsite where it is 51F with a high of 74F. There is a 6mph wind from the east and a few clouds. The weather isn't bad for this time of year since December is normally our coldest month. Originally, the only thing on the agenda today was taking the car into have the pressure sensors on the tires replaced. Now, I'll be heading to Blythe to get four bolts to reattach the tanks to the toilets. One of the four broke off and the tank is very wobbly. I think while we have the water drained from the tank, it is a good idea to replace all the bolts on the two toilets. There's never a dull moment around here, and I could use a few dull moments. We should never forget the Day That Will Live in Infamy, and the attack on Pearl Harbor. We've been to Pearl Harbor about three times, but only went out to the Arizona once. DH is the cotton candy lover in this house. I will salute Illinois. National joy day sounds like a good day to celebrate. I'm pretty sure my halo, if I have one, is tarnished. 😉 The risotto sounds interesting, and thank you Debbie @dfish for knowing your audience so well and including a recipe with wine. We'll pass on the drink, but I think I would enjoy the wine. We were in Kristiansand once, and I'll retrieve my pictures shortly. @Denise T Denise, good luck putting the new desk together. @Crazy For Cats Jake, I hope Jasper has gained some weight and can have the meds reduced. @0106 Tina, when we visited the Arizona in 2007, we took a tour from the pre-cruise hotel. It was basically a transfer that got us there early enough to not have to wait in line. Just after seeing the movie, we boarded the boat to the memorial over the Arizona. @cruising sister I hope the dentist visit doesn't hold any surprises. They're my least favorite appointment, but one I keep regularly. @ger_77 Gerry, that is good news that Wayne is doing better. I hope they will be able to join you on your cruise. @Cruzin Terri Terri, I'm sending positive thoughts that all goes well and the Jim will have answers to improve the situation. @kochleffel Paul and @mamaofami Carol, and all other Dailyites who celebrate HAPPY HANUKKAH! Lenda
  3. Good evening. Tonight DH wanted to cook a steak, which we split. It was very good since he is a great steak griller. We had baked potatoes and salads to go with the steak. Graham, if you make it to Australia, you should allow time to go to New Zealand. It is a beautiful country. Jacqui, while you cannot undo Ivan’s past and the neglect he endured, you can be proud of the change you made in his life and health. Both of you are good for each other. Glad you are both beginning to feel better. Glad I could help. Lenda
  4. Good afternoon after a busy day. The last load was washed this morning, and now the washer will have a few day's rest. The Christmas cards are finished and ready to mail tomorrow. I was hoping to get outside and wash the car, and I may try to when I finish here. I can always do the computer work in the morning while it's still chilly outside. Pennie, I'm happy you got a good resolution after the bad lobster. Carolyn, I'm glad the packing is getting done, and most of what you plan to take is ready to ship. Graham, thank you for your kind words. I hope you and Pauline can get to New Zealand and Australia. They are very interesting countries. Sharon, the weather in May is generally pretty good. It is warming up by the first weekend in May, but it is still in the rainy part of the year. I would suggest warm weather clothes, but some layers and a light jacket for cooler mornings and evenings. Just keep in mind that Texas weather is very unpredictable. AA is the only airline that serves Waco, with I think two flights in and out a day from DFW, so you won't miss Dallas completely. At least, you will miss the drive. I think you will enjoy Waco. Joy, what a horrible thing to have happen to anyone on a cruise. I hope the patient will be all right and get the medical attention they need. Debbie, I'm betting that River will be a good "nurse" to you after your surgery. Congratulations on fixing the under cabinet lights. I don't envy you cleaning out the drain every month. Annie, I hope your DH feels better soon. Roy, I'm betting the schedulers don't know how to override the automatic notification system, and aren't thinking about creating an email. I hope all you appointments go well, and you can get some rest. Lenda
  5. This is what I posted on February 9, 2022. We have been to the Bay of Islands once on the Volendam on the APEX cruise in 2002. I posted a few pictures when Whangarei was the port last August. Since we tendered into Paihia near Waitangi, I will post the pictures I didn't share then. It was cloudy in the morning when we arrived, but by the afternoon the clouds had burned off and it was a glorious day. Once off the tender, we walked around town checking the sites and things to do. We booked a boat tour for the afternoon and took a private drive in the country with one of the locals before the boat trip. These are pictures of town in the morning and in the afternoon. A few pictures from our drive in the country including a stop at Haruru Falls. We were lucky that it was in November and there was water flowing over the falls. Our boat tour took us around the Bay and out to the Hole in the Rock, where we actually motored through the hole. Volendam from the tour boat I'll close with the beautiful sunset as we sailed toward Auckland. Lenda
  6. Good morning from Quartzsite where we have a beautiful, sunny day. It is 57F and no wind. The humidity is high for the desert, but low for most places at 43% with a dew point of 35F. The predicted high is 80F which will be a good time to wash the car and the lower part of the motorhome. Since this motorhome des not have air suspension, we cannot have it lower closer to the ground when it is parked, so it will not be easy to wash the upper areas. Fortunately, they did not get dirty on the drive out here. I am not a fan of gazpacho either, so next summer someone can have my share. We don't have mitten trees here, but do have Angel Trees. They have cards you can choose with a child's name, clothing size and Christmas wish list. This lets others get Christmas presents for a child that otherwise might not get any. My hats are off the miners, especially ones who work underground. We toured a non-working coal mine outside of Sydney, NS, and in places, the ceiling was about four feet above the floor. I like the Swami Sivananda quote, and unfortunately it is eventually true for all of us. I hope we all have many tomorrows ahead of us. The meal sounds good, as does the wine. However, it's a firm no to the drink. We have been to the Bay of Islands, but not to Russell. I'll retrieve my pictures in a few minutes. Thomas Edison had many inventions to his credit, but the phonograph was one to bring pleasure to people. The 1921 Anglo-Irish treaty signing was a good start to peace in that area. @kazu Jacqui, I'm glad Ivan's visit to the vet yesterday went well. We both wish the roads were car and motorhome worthy. @aliaschief Bruce, I'm glad your back is better and that you are being gentle with it. @cat shepard Ann, I hope your tree crew is as good as our tree trimmer was last week. @Cruzin Terri Terri, I hope you can get some relief from the fatigue. @smitty34877 Terry, I hope the roofers and the pipe line diggers are finished quickly. @ottahand7 Nancy, I'm sorry John has shingles, and I hope the medicine keeps the pain down. Safe travels. @dfish Debbie, having her mother in prison must be difficult for River, but I'm glad River is out of that unhealthy home life environment. I too hope her mother is away for a long time. River is lucky to have two wonderful grandmothers, and you in her life. @marshhawk Annie, I'm sorry Chuck @catmando is having problems after his test yesterday. I hope when you reschedule the angioplasty, you can get an earlier appointment. @rafinmd Roy, add me to the list of those that like the sign in your picture. Lenda
  7. Good evening. Tonight is a great night for stargazing. We set DH's new telescope out just before dinner, and he has it set to keep looking at the sky all night. I hope it captures some interesting objects. The waterheater in the motorhome is fixed. DH thought he'd pushed the reset button, but whatever he pushed wasn't the reset. We"d already done everything the repair guy was going to ask about. It turns out, even the guy, who does warranty work on these units, didn't know about that particular button until he accidentally found it, so as I told DH we should not feel bad about not finding it. Of course, we still had to pay the trip charge. All in all, the dealership did a poor job of getting the motorhome ready, and on tne walk through when we picked it up. Congratulations on being released by the heart surgeon. That is great news you are now off 3 of your meds. Debbie, I'm glad your surgery date was confirmed. Terri, I hope next week gives you some answers on your why you are so fatigued. I also hope the Neurologist has some answers for your DH. That is an impressive number of quilts your sewing group donated to the hospital this year. Glad you made it there and back in the rain. I guess we'll have to be friendly rivals between now and New Year's Day. HOOKEM HORNS! 🤘 Lensa
  8. Good afternoon. We enjoyed our drive-thru breakfast and the chance to get out of the house just for a little fun. Town was pretty quiet and empty this morning. All the clothes that needed hanging on the line are there. Some of the lighter weight items are probably dry. I just hope I never have this many clothes to hang out at once. The clothesline is about full. One set of sheets is washed and back on the bed. The ones I took off last week but couldn't wash are in the washer. Then there are the new sheets for the motorhome waiting to be washed. That will be it today, but I'll still need to wash the mattress new pad for the motorhome and the sheets we used on the way out here. Those will be washed tomorrow. Robert, thanks for the wonderful pictures from today's port. The different colors of the earth is very interesting. I think the nearest thing to that in the US is the Painted Desert in Arizona. Maeve Grace is so adorable and precious. It's like now that I'm here I can rest. Thanks for sharing the picture another Daily family baby, Charlene. Brenda, thanks for the pictures of the snow owl. Annie, I'm sorry your DH had a rough time today, and I hope he is doing better now. I'm sorry he needs an angioplasty on his leg, but I hope it helps solve the problem. Karen, I hope you remain safe from the flooding. Eva, that is good you don't need glasses for driving any longer. I'm glad your friend Dena is doing well enough to go home, and that she will have visiting nurses for home care. Sending positive thoughts that she does not develop an infection but heals quickly. I hope they find the cause of the swelling so they can prevent it from happening again. Lenda
  9. Good morning from Quartzsite. The sun is up and it's mostly sunny. It is 44F and feels like 43F with a 3 mph breeze. Our high is supposed to be 73F, so I'll be changing into shorts later. It should be a good day for hanging clothes on the line. I'll probably have to use the dryer for more than the sheets since the laundry piled up while we were waiting for the washer parts and not enough room on the clothes line. It's really nice to wash clothes and not worry about the washer trying to tear itself apart. With the new sheets and mattress pad for the motorhome and two sets of sheets this time, I'll probably be washing some of those tomorrow. I also hope to get the Christmas letter written so I can mail the cards tomorrow. DH just said he wants to go for a drive thru breakfast in a little while, and I have no objections Ninjas played an important role in Japan's history. Volunteers are very important, and I volunteer at the DDs schools. I'll definitely celebrate blue jeans. They are the mainstay in my winter wardrobe. I also have black, brown and cranberry jeans for a more dressy look. I like the Joseph Campbell quote. We'll pass on the meal, drink and the wine. We have not been to Port Louis, Mauritius. The California Gold Rust certainly boosted the state's economy. I'll definitely celebrate the 1933 repeal of prohibition, probably with a glass of wine with dinner. From the little I understand, the 1969 establishment of the Four-node ARPANET network made the internet and what we have on The Daily possible. DH would understand Four-node ARPANET much better than I do. Thank you, Rich @richwmn for adding the explanation. @seagarsmoker I'm glad the interview went well, and I hope you make the call back for the second phase. If this is a job you want, then I hope they offer it to you. @grapau27 Graham, thanks for the explanation of Ninjas. @marshhawk Annie, I hope your DH's tests don't show any surprises and that he comes out the sedation easily. I've seen those metal plates in many places. Our water main break last week was in the right-of-way beside the road. It was still a gaping hole with orange cones around it Sunday. @kazu Jacqui, I'm glad Ivan has a path cleared in the back, and that the vet visit goes well. @smitty34877 Terry, I hope the pipeline replacement does not delay the roof replacement too long. @cunnorl Charlene, that is good news about your niece's new baby. Welcome to the world and more importantly, to The Fleet/Daily Maeve Grace. I'm glad mother and baby are doing well. @cruising sister Lorraine, thanks for the update on Murphy. I'm glad she is doing better and will be over the infection soon. I'm happy you are tolerating the new medicine well. @ger_77 Gerry, I'm happy that Wayne was discharged from the hospital yesterday. The Christmas Train sounds interesting. @StLouisCruisers Sandi, the weather in Phoenix looks good for this week. The highs will be in the low 80s and then 70s until Saturday, when they are back in the 60s. Lenda
  10. @GTVCRUISER BON VOYAGE! I hope you have a great cruise to Mexico. Lenda
  11. That's good news your surgery is scheduled for next Monday. I hope you get the screenings scheduled soon. Glad you felt better today, and made it to a new dining room. I hope the medical records get straightened out soon. Lenda
  12. A late good afternoon. The house is finally clean, and I did a deeper cleaning than I normally do on a regular house cleaning. The bad news is the guy who was coming this morning to look at the water heater in the motor home, told DH when DH called late this morning, that it might be this afternoon. Evidently, it might not be this afternoon, since it's 3:45 and he's a no show. The good news, we got a text from the washer repair guys that the part was in a day early and could they come this morning. Naturally, DH said yes. A bit later, he got a text that they would be here in ten minutes. I'm very happy to report, the washer was fixed quickly once they got the top off. I've run three loads of towels, and the washer is quieter than it ever was. After watching the two guys working to get the top off so they could get to the parts which are next to the drum, I was glad we didn't try the repair ourselves. The actual repair was quick. Maureen, I'm glad you are feeling better, and I hope to day is a good one without the cold meds. Sometimes, those meds can have unwanted side effects. I hope you get the records from MD transferred easily. Graham, I wish your water company owned our water system in Quartzsite. The argininal owner did not keep the system updated and in good repair, but they had an onsite person who responded quickly to any problem. When the pumps on the wells could not keep the tanks filled, they would haul water in from town. Two years ago, the company was sold to a company which owns water systems in many states. While they have an onsite person, to report a problem, we have to call an 800 number of report it on line. There is not other way to contact them. Naturally, it takes time for the report to filter through the system and for something to be done. There have been several outages over the last few months, and one or two lasted more than a day. This was due to pump or generator failure resulting in empty tanks. To make matters worse, they do not haul water in from town to fill the tanks. Last week when the water main broke, it took 12 hours for a backhoe to arrive and begin the repairs. Be very thankful for your company's prompt service and clean up. Calls and letters to the state office that oversees utility companies results in a report being filed and maybe an investigation, but that seems to be it. Gerry, I'm glad the procedure worked and that Wayne's heart rate is back to normal. I hope the swelling subsides quickly. Vanessa, I hope I'm butting in with unwanted comments and a suggestion. DH got a rollator a couple of years ago when his walking began to be unsteady. We added the shower seat after the first back surgery. I'm glad you decided to get both of them. Another handy tool is a grabber for getting things off the floor or out of high places. I use DH's as much as he does, if not more. If you don't have one, you might consider a handicap placard so you can park nearer where you are going. I hope you get some rest, and that they can do something soon to alleviate your pain. I think Debbie, @dfish is on the right track by being the squeaky wheel. Great pictures from Aruba. Debbie, I'm glad you have a date for your hernia repair. Thanks for the tip on getting estimates. Our HVAC replacement and washer repair estimates were what he charged. Paul, I love those signs. When it snows in Texas or the south where there is no snow removal equipment, I think the drivers leave what brains they have at home. Roy, I'm sorry you are not feeling as good as you'd like. I hope your PCP and cardiologist can help you feel better soon. Please take it easy until you see them. Debbie, the quilt is beautiful even unfinished. That special fabric you found last year is what makes it special for me. Lenda
  13. We have been to Aruba many times. The first time was in 1991, on the Carnival Tropicale at spring break with our 13 and 14-year old DDs. This was at a time when you could book a cabin when you were 18, so it was a wild cruise. One group of college kids were thrown off the ship in St. Thomas, less than 24 hours after sailing from San Juan. Just after that cruise, Carnival changed the rules that if you were under 21 there had to be someone 25+ in the cabin. Most of our pictures are the old fashion ones that are in photo albums. However, I do have some to share. We always rent a car in Aruba, so we have a lot of pictures outside Oranjestad. Some of the pictures were taken in January 2020, on our cruise on the Rotterdam, which turned out to be our last cruise for a while and the last time on the Rotterdam. The first two pictures were taken in San Nicolas at the south end of the island, near the refinery. Built in 1924, at one time it was the largest refinery complex in the world. It was shut down in 1985. As of January 2020, the facility was a transfer and storage facility. Charlie's Bar is a well known watering hole in San Nicolas. Unfortunately, we are always in San Nicolas before the bar opens. This is Baby Beach on the far south end of the island. These pictures are from the eastern side of the island. A little bar we found on the eastern side where we stopped for a coke. This is Baby Arch. The original natural bridge collapsed sometime after our first visit in 1991. Behind Baby Arch, you can make out the gap where the natural bridge fell. Just a couple of pictures of Oranjestad. The last was taken from the ship as we sailed. Lenda
  14. Good morning from Quartzsite where it is 45F and feels like it. Our humidity is a bit higher at 61% with a dew point of 36F. It is partly cloudy with a predicted high of 68F. The sky is just beginning to turn red as sunrise is at 7:25. Today's agenda includes house cleaning. As you know, I normally do not like to clean house, but today I'm actually looking forward to the chore. The house hasn't been cleaned since April 2022, and we've been here almost two weeks. It's mostly the dust that needs getting rid of. We also have someone coming to try to fix the water heater on the motorhome. We tried again last week to get it working, but no luck. We did discover one valve was set to bypass the water heater. That was a search to find it, since it wasn't where we expected it to be. Hopefully, he can fix it or replace. I'm just glad it's under warranty. Along with tigers, I think cheetahs and the most magnificent cats. I love to watch pictures of them running. Banks are necessary in today's world. Cookie day is good, and I'll be starting the gingerbread cookies before too much longer. While I like carrots, we'll pass on the meal since coconut is not a favorite here. We'll also pas on the drink and the wine. We have been to Aruba many times, beginning in 1991 on Carnival Tropicale. The first Thanksgiving in 1619 is a good day to honor, and proves again that much of history depends on who has the best PR. I'll honor The Observer as we still need printed newspapers. The 1943 announcement by MLB Commissioner Kenesaw Mountain Landis was the beginning of a major shift and a welcome one in baseball. @StLouisCruisers Sandi, I glad the plumber found the leak and that the repair does not seem to be too involved, just inconvenient. @kazu Jacqui, I hope it's not to slippery for you and Ivan to take your walks. @Heartgrove I'm glad you and Sue are feeling better and that DSIL remained well. @marshhawk Annie, I'm glad you enjoyed the dinner even with all the TV, etc. @smitty34877 Terry, I hope all the street repairs do not imped the roof replacement. Lenda
  15. So happy to see you have a job interview. Best wishes for a great interview and a good outcome. Lenda
  16. Graham, that is very thoughtful and nice of you to give the men tea, coffee and sweets. Yesterday, the hole in the next street over from our water main break last week, was still roped off. There was no sign any work had been done since the break was repaired. What a difference in response and service. Lenda
  17. Good afternoon. DH decided to go with me the Algodones and Yuma. It was a nice sunny day that was not too cool or too warm. It was a good thing DH decided to wait in the car while I crossed the border. The town has really changed, and there is still a lot of construction and uneven sidewalks just inside Mexico. I had a somewhat cruise experience entering Mexico. For the first time, the Guardia National wanted to look into my purse. Upon heading back to the USA, I had to show my passport card to a guard before I could head to the CBP building. Once he saw the card, i was allowed to pass through the gate in The Wall. The last time we were there, The Wall was along the border but not near the actual crossing. Now, it's all the way through town except where the cars enter and exit and the walk in gate. Of course, our second stop was W-M where DH used one of their "scooters" to get around. It had been more than a year since he spent much time in Wal-Mart. He had fun riding around and looking at everything, especially in the meat department. I would leave him in one spot to go get something, and then have to hunt for him when I got back to where I thought he was. It was nice to see him doing something besides doctor visits. On the way home, the roads which were rough in a few places and the long day began to bother him a little, and he was tired. Still it was a nice day, even if it was spent a W-M. Lorraine, I'm glad your DB is doing well and can now walk on that foot. I'm happy your hand is healing well, and that you are diligent with the PT. Maureen, take it easy and rest until you are feeling better. Vanessa, I wish you could get more sleep and could see the neurosurgeon sooner. I hope you get rid of the fan tomorrow, and that the insurance field rep will come soon so you can get the water damage repaired. Penny, I'm glad you are enjoying your cruise. While Honolulu is a big city, there are interesting places along the coast out of town. BTW, seniors can ride The Bus all day at a discount by showing their Medicare card. Thanks for the pictures. Annie, I'm sorry about your finger, but I'm glad you felt like using your shower. Jake, that was my first thought, too. Our first cat climbed DH's DB and DSIL's tree once. We caught before the tree fell, but it was really swaying. That's why we had artificial trees when we had cats. Lenda
  18. @RedneckBob I hope you and Mrs. RNB have a wonderful cruise. Ms Crystal (AKA Lenda)
  19. An early good morning from Quartzsite where it was 39F when I got up. Our high is predicted to be 67F. Even though we are past the full moon, it is putting out enough light to make the desert look beautiful with the noon shadows. Once the sun is up and not straight in my eyes, I'll be heading to Algodones, Mexico, and Yuma. DH is still trying to decide if he will go with me or stay home. Persons with Disabilities is a good day to remember not everyone is as capable of doing things as others, and we really should keep it in mind everyday. Green bean casserole will be making an appearance during the holidays. I read recently that Dorcas Reilly who developed the green bean casserole for Campbell's Soup never made it at home. I'll definitely hug DH today. A very interesting and amusing quote. I think many of us Baby Boomers first heard the William Tell Overture as the theme song for the Lone Ranger. It was my music teacher in fourth or fifth grade that introduced us to that particular piece of music as the WTO. Today, we'll pass on the meal, wine, and the unusual drink. Someone must have a lot of time on their hands to think up some of these drinks. While we have been to beautiful Costa Rica many times, we have not been to Puerto Limon. I remember seeing the news of the first heart transplant by Dr. Christiaan Barnard. It really did revolutionize medicine. In 2009, when we were in Cape Town, our tour guide pointed out the hospital where the transplant took place. I couldn't get a picture from the bus. Welcome home @Norseh2o, @Himself and @Niagarawine. I hope your cruises were all you hoped they would be. Safe travels today. @rafinmd Roy, I'm glad you made it home safely. @Denise T Denise, I'm glad Chase's ear infection is being treated, and he seems to be improving. @ger_77 Gerry, I hope the procedure today gets Wayne's heart back in normal rhythm, and that the swelling in his legs continues to go down. Lenda
  20. Good evening. We now have Christmas lights. Besides the usual lights on DH's storage shed and the lighted wreath on the walk-in gate, I got out four more strings of lights and put them on the fence. We gave up uding the ladder and trying to lights the on the house. We're planning a day trip to Yuma and Algodones, Mexico, tomorrow. I'm not sure if I will have time to check in on The Daily in the morning. It depends on how early I get up, and how early DH gets up. Mauteen, I hope you both feel better soon. Glad the doctor will be DH's doctor and do the followup after the surgery. I hope then offer on the condo is a good one. That is great news the Banyan tree is surviving. Lenda
  21. 🤘 TEXAS BIG XII CHAMPIONS! 🤘 It's fitting that Texas won since they won the last Southwest Conference championship, and the first Big XII championship. Now, they've won the last year they will be in the Big XII. During the first half, i got the Christmas cards signed, addressed, and stamped. All that's left is writing the annual Christmas letter and getting them in the mail. I'll confess, I used printed address labels. the printing is easier to read than my hand writing, and they show up better on red envelopes than black ink. When I finish here, I'm heading outside to put up the Christmas lights -- finally. Carolyn, I'm glad you both are having minimal side effects from the booster. That was the same with us. Pennie, I hope you enjoyed your visit to Volcano National Park and the coffee plantation.. Karen, it always seems to take longer with medical recoveries than you expect. Glad you're keeping up the good work. Ann, sorry the doctor found a polyp and you have to go back next year. However, the alternative is much worse. Eva, thanks for the update on Dena. I hope they find the cause of her problems and can fix it quickly. Yikes on the cyber attack on the hospitals. Dixie, thanks for the pictures. I think there is a Griswold house in most neighborhoods. Lenda
  22. We have been to Mendillo twice, but not on a BHB. In 2000, it was our next to last stop on the P&O world cruise on Oriana. We rented a car and drove around the island, which is pretty dry and treeless, for the most part. After three months of ports in the British Commonwealth, where DH drove on the wrong side of the road, I had to keep reminding him to get back on the proper side of the road. Fortunately, there was not much traffic. We suspected the car we rented was the man's personal car. The second visit was in 2009 on the Tahitian Princes. That time we just walked around town. Couple of markets. As you can see, the fish market was not the cleanest, and there were a lot of flies, no ice and very, very fishy smelling. A mix of street scenes from our two visits. A few pictures from around the island. One of the locals The airport Lenda
  23. Good morning from a mostly sunny Quartzsite. The sunrise this morning was beautiful with just a few clouds in the east. It is 42F with a 2mph breeze from the SSE. Our high will be 67F and with the sun, it should be pleasant putting up the outdoor lights this afternoon. This morning we'll be watching the Big 12 Championship game, and pulling for the TEXAS LONGHORNS 🤘 to beat the OKLAHOMA STATE COWBOYS. I think I'll start working on the Christmas cards during the game. Three good days to celebrate, and one with the goal of preventing pollution. I will salute all the hardworking bartenders on BHBs, along with the equally hardworking bar servers. A very interesting and deep quote from Jorge Luis Borges. I have a feeling there are some who never find out who they are. The meal looks good, and I'll check out the recipes. We'll pass on the drink, and even though I only like a few white wines, I might give this one a try. We have visited Mindelo twice. I'll look for my pictures shortly. Two interesting days in history with the coronation of Napoleon and the discovery of Peking Man. @Seasick Sailor Joy, I hope you have a relaxing pool day today. There seem to be chair hogs on every cruise. @Lady Hudson Katherine, I'm glad the nausea is mostly gone, but wish the headache would disappear. I hope your doctor has some answers for you. @Haljo1935 Unless it's difficult to get into Ponta Delgado harbor, you should make it. There is a very nice dock in town. @dfish Debbie, I'm glad Sue is feeling better. Good news you found the transformer, and I hope you find the right bulb and the new glass piece. @smitty34877 Terry, I'm glad the teenager is helping with meal prep and cooking. @marshhawk Annie, your new schedule sounds manageable and lets you have a day off. I hope the oxygen helps you feel better. @mamaofami Carol, that is good news that Sam is improving everyday. I'm sorry you are having dental problems and will need extensive dental work. Sending positive thoughts all goes smoothly and you recover quickly. @rafinmd Roy, I hope you have a safe drive home. Lenda
