  1. Many of us have learned this lesson the hard way. To include myself. Requiring a receipt for proof of purchase on the insurance companies part is smart. (Can you imagine all the claims they would receive if they just took everyone's word? Yep, Nope. That was a Coach bag, not the bag I picked up at Walmart.) I filed a claim for a "lost/stolen/misplaced" wedding band. Received the max amount covered under the policy. Why? Many years ago, I began scanning my receipts for large dollar items. I back these files up onto an external hard drive plus I also copy the files to a separate USB.
  2. 🤯 OMG! Stop the world, I'm getting off. Oh, the horror!
  3. As a male, I don't have the answer. However I do follow a crew member on YouTube who may be able to answer your question. I'm sure the crew members have the same situation you find yourself in. I am providing a link to her latest video. If you open up the "description", she provides links to her other various social media accounts. Maybe you could ask her directly, or get a suggestion of where crew members go for certain beauty applications.
  4. As of right now, you are the Travel Agents customer, not Royals.
  5. How reasonable is it? About as reasonable as your current healthcare provider has to call your insurance company to get pre-authorization for you to receive the medical procedure or diagnostic examination they feel you need? About as reasonable as your current prescription med company requiring you to change your medications prescribed to you by your healthcare professional because they want you to reduce their costs. I don't think it's reasonable at all. However, thems the rules we have to play by. BTW, Thanks Optum. NOT!
  6. We used to board her at the Vet but she got 86’d. We have to give her gabipentin every time we take her to the vet. we now use rover.com to have somebody drop by twice a day to feed her, clean the cat box, and they stay for an hour to give her some attention. You get to select the person you’re most comfortable with thru short visits and interviews. You get a notification every time they enter and exit the house, plus they throw in some pics. I recommend looking into them at least.
  7. When I was still working, I could have afforded a $1M home, but chose not to. I could have afforded an RV, a boat, a truck, 2 Cars, and jet skis. I chose instead to choose to invest in the market, max out 401K, live comfortably, and travel in comfort. yes, I cruise in suites and fly up front.
  8. Since I blocked jclinard's response, hopefully, I'm not repeating what he said. CFAR works a couple of different ways. Cruse line policies allow you to cancel up to scheduled sailing date and time. However, cruise line policies usually begin coverage when the cruise sails, not when you leave the house. 3rd party policies usually have a requirement that you cancel 48 hours before you trip begins. Sometimes, that may not be enough time. Especially if your trip actually begins when you leave the house a couple of days prior to the cruise.
  9. I just asked Chat GBT the following question is cruisecritic.com a good source of information for new cruisers The answer was Yes, Cruise Critic is generally considered to be a good source of information for new cruisers. It is a popular website that provides a wealth of information about various cruise lines, ships, itineraries, and destinations. Cruise Critic offers reviews and ratings of different aspects of cruising, such as the quality of food, service, entertainment, and activities on board. They also provide helpful tips for first-time cruisers, such as what to pack, what to expect on embarkation day, and how to make the most of your time on board. In addition to reviews and advice, Cruise Critic also has a large online community of experienced cruisers who can offer helpful insights and answer questions from new cruisers. This can be a valuable resource for those who are looking for personalized recommendations and advice. Overall, Cruise Critic can be a great resource for new cruisers who are looking to learn more about cruising and make informed decisions about their upcoming trip.
  10. How many cruises have you missed because you didn't arrive on time? Out of 20 or 25 cruises, I haven't missed any. The price I would have paid to cover every possible scenario that "might" have happened but didn't vs the amount I've saved by not paying for coverage for every possible scenario allows me to absorb the costs and still be money ahead.
  11. As with most things when it comes to software, the problem is not with the output, but the information during the input by humans. The human asked a very general question. The output provided by the software was also very general and, in most respects, correct. AI has been around for years and can be very useful. However, it's not foolproof yet. I've seen it used in medical imagining. The AI can direct a radiologist to an anomaly that it predicts is an area of interest, but it still requires a professional radiologist's human eyeball.
  12. I used to do something like this until I learned the hard way that you are Priceline's customer. Not the airline, not the hotels, and not the rental cars customer. If anything goes TU, or there are discrepancies, the end product will tell you to call Priceline for any matters. You want a copy of your hotel folio? Call Priceline. Priceline included an upgrade but none available at the hotel or car rental, please step out of line and call Priceline while I take care of customers behind you. Priceline is just the middleman. I saved $200 once by using a middleman. After all the problems and grief, I learned my lesson. Pay the extra, become their loyal customer, and the benefits will follow.
  13. ahhh, the semantics game. Like the ones we played as children because our parents said no to something.
  14. Good Enough! Is that part of Royal's new operational procedure plan?
  15. It appears that the propulsion issue has not been repaired. Speed Issues Change Multiple Itineraries for Royal Caribbean Ship (cruisehive.com)
  16. Confirming change? Yes Reason given? No I do appreciate you confirming that a full refund will most likely be an option.
  17. My Canary Islands itinerary has been modified. Only by a couple of hours in the first couple of ports though. Nothing horrible but I've never experienced engines fixing themselves unless I put tape over the "Check Engine" light. Again, I'm just trying to have a back-up plan in place in case Mr. Murphy strikes.
  18. For those who don't know, Prior Planning Prevents Poor Performance. (When I was in the military, it was 6 P's but, we'll leave it at 5 for now) Anyway, sailing on the Anthem this summer out of Southampton. It's well known that Anthem is currently having engine problems. They've already modified our itinerary. This is where the planning comes in. Worst case scenario, the engine issue gets worse, and they have to cancel a few cruises to make repairs. How has Royal handled this in the past? Full cruise refund? (of course, the refund wouldn't be immediate) But if refund was coming, we could head over to Barcelona for a few days, then check out Rome/Naples area, fly back to London and catch our scheduled flight home. This is all contingent of course on multiple factors. Just wanting to have a back-up plan in case. We are in London 8 days prior and then the 12-night Canary cruise.
  19. The 8yo can probably show you how to download books 😁 Your local public library probably can allow you to download books. The iPad can download a Kindle app and download books from Amazon. You can download shows, movies and games onto the ipad. (may I recommend headphones) Many people pooh pooh when children have electronics in public or at dinner. They forget that when we were younger, we had coloring books or blocks to keep us busy.
  20. I won't say you're wrong, but I will say that if you expect yesteryear to always stay the same until the end of time, then your expectations are unrealistic. The only thing constant in life is change.
  21. Obviously you didn't read flhokie's post regarding FL state law. If "Safety" was the #1 priority in life for children, we wouldn't have to consider giving them body armor when they go to school would we?
  22. Hey, I'm with you on recreational use. However, the dumba$$es have taken advantage of the situation and are ruining the cruise experience for the entire fleet. If you can't be moderate (edibles) and act civilized, then it's time to crack down.
  23. Almost all the cruise lines sell this same policy. Insurance is regulated by each state. The cruise lines have to sell a policy that is legal in all 50 States and most of Canada. Therefore, these AON policies are watered down so they comply.
  24. That is my understanding as well. My next step would be 2 things. 1. Never use this TA again. Incompetent comes to mind. 2. Consider checking out Steve at the following website for your next Travel Insurance needs. Get the Best Trip Insurance Details, Advice (tripinsurancestore.com) In fact, if you find yourself with some downtime, read thru his blogs and FAQ section. You'll learn more about Travel Insurance than you ever thought you would need. Off topic side story. Road trips, Vegas trips, weekend in Miami trips, I never considered travel insurance. Why would I right? My BIL was a motorcycle rider who used to get involved in long distance endurance rides. During one of these rides, he ran into a storm and the worst possible thing happened. When his wife went to claim his body, the medical insurance didn't cover repatriation of remains (pay to bring the body home). Due to the financial costs, she had to cremate his remains, and then could bring him home to his final resting place.
