Princess cabin categories and upgrade bids
resordanis replied to mum and son's topic in Australia & New Zealand Cruisers
I am interested and for 21 nights it might be worth it, just can’t find out. Anyway I said to my husband we could probably eat at specialty restaurants every night for the cost to upgrade. I was happy with a mini when I booked and still am happy! Good luck with your upgrade bid! I bid recently on Royal Caribbean and got a successful bid and it was the best move we made! Funnily enough, it was 5 weeks out and I was considering adjusting the bid higher. -
Princess cabin categories and upgrade bids

If this is the cruise with your parents, are they going to be able to manage the bath/shower? Just a thought even though the mini will give you more room. If not for with your parents, just go,for it! -

Yes, direct. Even cruise planner is “scratching his head about this one” -
Princess cabin categories and upgrade bids
resordanis replied to mum and son's topic in Australia & New Zealand Cruisers
I am not sure I want to bid, but as it the cruise is 21 nights, I was interested in the price and options to go to another cabin from the current mini. With the first cruise, a cabin would be nice before I even think about bidding!🤣 -
Princess cabin categories and upgrade bids
resordanis replied to mum and son's topic in Australia & New Zealand Cruisers
The bidding system is just weird. On a cruise in April on Royal some of the passengers can bid for an upgrade and some not. I didn’t get the cabin, last minute or cheap, but I cannot upgrade. Same with allocation of cabin (another cruise). Princess cruise planner said he can sometimes allocate a cabin, but not mine! In your situation I would stick with the deluxe balcony as it gives you the sofa bed, now whether you have it as a bed or just a sofa, might be a bit more comfortable. -
Anyone had a move over offer?
resordanis replied to Lanwood's topic in Australia & New Zealand Cruisers
With our next cruise Geoff, I am sure they will find us a cabin, but either way not fussed. The problem was at the time of booking they were selling balconies and deluxe balconies for the same price, so obviously we chose the deluxe! You are probably right on the full suite offer, but at the time, we were happy! These days they upsell everything ! Hate booking guarantees though and every time I do, I say never again! -
Anyone had a move over offer?
resordanis replied to Lanwood's topic in Australia & New Zealand Cruisers
There is a current thread on the Princess page of Cruise Critic re move over offers. I am currently reading and interested as we have not receive a cabin for our upcoming cruise and it is sold out, so very interested. I really had not heard of any move over offers since the resuming of cruising since Covid, but apparently there has been. I have had a couple of offers in the past, but none we could take up. The best one though was when I said we couldn’t take the offer, the next day we got a full suite, so obviously they wanted our category of mini suite. -

Where to get a taxi at Sydney airport?
resordanis replied to mum and son's topic in Australia & New Zealand Cruisers
Ah, the Alexander Pushkin. First cruise with my family and put me off cruising again for 20 years. I was sick before we even got under the harbour bridge and wanted to go home. Amazing how things have changed.,I think my husband I paid $1700 each for bunks in 1988 and our son slept on the sofa for free and fell off every night! -

I admire your parents and do hope I am doing that at their age. Good for them. -

I have never used a transfer. Just saying what our friends use, so have no personal experience, just an idea and I am sure it would not be cheap either. -

I have elderly friends with walkers etc.they always pay for a Princess Transfer….would that work for you? -
So what direction do you think? I could be interested!

Yes, that is what I had hoped. It is what we have done on other cruise lines. Very annoying as prior to Covid we had some free Elite internet and now nothing. It is one of the reasons we took the Plus package.

Ok, thanks very interesting!

Could you sign out and then go to another device? Hopefully I can go from iPhone to iPad!🤔

Great review and thanks for letting us go along on the ride with you. Apart from you being in the Grills, the experience you had was similar to what we have experienced in a Brittania Stateroom and I am kicking myself for now now booking your trip and going for Princess! Thanks again and I look forward to reading about your world voyage.

Yes, the theatre is great and love the Royal Boxes too.The shows were also very good as were the guest speakers. Glad you enjoyed your holiday!

Really enjoying reading your review. Making me wish I had chosen this cruise over our upcoming Majestic Princess one. We have done 3 longish cruises on the current 3 Queens and love the library on all 3 for that length of time. I have to say that QE was our least favourite, but after reading your review, I wish we had tried again. Have never done the Grills, so a little envious. The only time we were going try The Grills our cruise was cancelled the night before due to Covid. Thanks again for letting us join your journey.

Help please, Cambodian Currency - the Riel.
resordanis replied to Busy Mum's topic in Australia & New Zealand Cruisers
We did a cruise just prior to Covid and we were in Cambodia. All the places we went to during our tours took US dollars, in fact it was preferred. Might be different in Markets, but small shops took US. -
Booking Singapore Accommodation
resordanis replied to JohnGc's topic in Australia & New Zealand Cruisers
Hope Sentosa will be ok. We like staying at Swissotel Stanford, but since Covid price very expensive. Got a great deal at Sofitel Sentosa including breakfast and dinner, so worth a try. We don’t do theme parks, and cable car was done many years ago. Botanic Gardens and in particular the Orchid Garden are worth the trip. Sometimes the heat gets to you and your ideas go out the window for somewhere a little cooler to.
