Not sure what "going from platinum to sapphire" means... You are either platinum now or sapphire now.

If you are sapphire, you can book at 125 days to departure, 12 midnight eastern time. You have a 5 day head start over general reservations, make the best use of that time. If you have problems with the app, use your laptop or call NCL.

Yes I became sapphire at January cruise. The app does recognize me as such. I just didn’t understand why it is showing I can book November 4th which is 120 days before march 3 cruise. I guess if it doesn’t automatically change I will end up calling.

Dining reservations can be made online 120 days prior to departure (130 days for Haven, 125 for Club Balcony and top tier latitudes). You need to make those reservations exactly 120 days prior to departure (12 midnight eastern time) for best selections. They will sell out quickly.

Show reservations can be made 21 days prior to departure (26 days for Haven and top tier latitudes)

You may not know the answer but i will ask.  I still have the NCL app on my phone from January 2023 cruise. It is updated with my upcoming cruise and also shows me going from platinum to sapphire. If i click on to dinning to check out the menus it says too early to book check back nov 4. That is 120 days before my march 3,2024 cruise. What happen to the 125 days for sapphire?    I wouldn’t worry about it but. With our heath issues it is a nut we early.

  3. On breakaway in January . My cabin was serviced twice a day and the freestyle daily was delivered.
I will say my cabin was always neat and it took just a few minutes to do a few chores.
when walking down the hall I saw the cabin stewards cleaning cabins that looked like a bomb blew up in there so maybe those slobs was only getting it once a day since it took most of the morning to put it back together.

  4. Rooms are usually ready around 2:00 an announcement is made when ready.

the dinning room will be open for lunch. Ask for directions or check out the deck plans ahead and know your direction. Also O’Shenhans will be open.  We prefer the dinning room.
you can check in online at 21 days eastern standard time (whatever time it is for you) I used my iPad .  Only problem is I didn’t read full directions for the picture you need . CAN NOT have glasses on.  So have a picture ready to use or will need to do a selfie at that time.
we rarely do any excursions anymore so not real up to date on that.  I do know they can sell out. Happened to us.
If  you have dining package you can make those reservations at 125 days out. Do it!! Also if you have a party of an odd number round up your party count.

  5. One little trick I used. When doing an email do the email THEN sign in to send it.
also if two people in cabin (example husband and wife) and one primary person will be using it they will transfer all minutes to one persons phone.

I'm sorry, but you lost me right away. How can your daughter both "share without issue" AND "eat off the kids menu"? Is she sharing what you ordered, or are you eating some of what she got from the kids menu?

And FWIW, it isn't new or hidden, in fact it is plainly posted on NCL's website

But I think because they have been able to break the rules up until now it is all of a sudden a news flash. We have brought grandkids on MANY cruises and always followed the guidelines. I always knew ahead the rules and stuck with them. Never in a million years would I think a 15 year old could eat of a kids menu anywhere.

  7. Have sailed Breakaway 3 times. Once out of Miami and twice out of New Orleans. I think possibly the ship gets a bad wrap from the screwed up embarkation in New Orleans. Joking/not joking. We were almost 2 hours leaving port.
last sailing was in January and everything was great. I will say I don’t ever remember the hundreds of people in the lobby before(or was it thousands) try to go to the service desk and ask a question and carry on a conversation with the microphone blaring and people yelling.  Not a good fit.

for me the food was good but I find by mid week not a lot pleases me cause I am just tired of eating so damn much every day.

  8. I had a coffee pot delivered to my cabin and used the packet of coffee for the machine and I was fine. My daughter was too lazy to do the same and did not like the dinning room coffee and would stop and get a cup from Starbucks on way to breakfast. We never did the Buffett so not sure how it was. In the past my husband would get some from Buffett later in the day. This was all on the breakaway.

Sorry to piggy back on this post here but I don’t think my question is big enough to justify a separate post. Royal cruiser here, going for the first time on Norwegian Pearl in April. Can specialty dining credit I got when I booked this cruise be used in the Sushi place? It’s a la carte so I am pretty sure the answer is no, but I just wanted to be sure.

Again, sorry if I am hijacking this post.

Yes you can use for sushi.  My daughter and granddaughter did it and you get choice of 4 things. They nearly blew up eating so much. Lol

by the way you cant make a reservation.

We ate at Cagney's 4 times on the Gem on our B2B between Jan. 25-Feb. 17, and there was no upcharge for the crab cake.  (Singular, one cake.)  I can't believe folks have been paying an upcharge for it; it was okay, but certainly not worth an upcharge.

Like I said earlier on breakaway Jan 8-15 and was definitely charged.  It was actually my granddaughter that ordered it and waitress charged to me (she told me she was doing it) funny thing we had a mixed bag of platinum and dinning package (3 of us) the dinning package did not even max out what all they could order.

They can keep the foie gras as my DH won't want that...lol

Glad to see not on Cagney's menu and the upcharge for crab cakes did go away.

I found the menus on the ncl site. We have a cruise booked so when I go to explore dining when you look at the different restaurants there is a link for view menu. They are sample menus but all of them are now updated for 2023. Hmm may have to go to Cagney's 3 times and no LeBistro. lol

    Thank you everyone.

We cruised breakaway January 8-15 and the 10.00 up charge was still on menu for crab cake. Take my word it was billed to us. (Only one person got it)

Just go to the zoo for free coffee. No different in quality from the nasty stuff Starbucks sells at a serious premium. Now of course if you need a mocha supreme with half skim and half heavy cream with a dash of spice then that is different. For that I would pack a thermos from home and bring it on board as Starbucks has been known to open late (more then six minutes after embarkation).

Sorta bad advice about bringing anything onboard. Watched the clerk make the girl in front of me toss simple water in garbage in a clear see thru water bottle.

I disembarked the Joy on Jan 21, and they were having a mass change-out of crew. While waiting in the theater for our tour to disembark, there were about 200 crew filling out paperwork on the stage of the theater. This may have caused the delays in embarkation.

Also, the disembarkment and embarkation in LA on Jan 6 was delayed. We arrived at San Pedro to embark at 10 am, and didn't get onto the ship until after 1:00 pm. They hadn't cleared the ship until about 11:30 am to begin embarkation.

I was on breakaway January 8-15.we had 200 crew getting off and 200 new crew coming on.  We did not carry our luggage off but in the platinum group (8:00) and was jumping in the car before 8:30. When we heard about the big crew change was somewhat afraid it may slow things but no everything was slick.
