  1. I will be traveling on O at the end of January. If the rooms are not available before 3:00pm, I will question O. corporate why they have difficulty in providing the rooms in a timely manner while other cruise lines can open their staterooms before 2:00 pm. On our Edge sailing last January our arrival time was 10:30 am. We were on board the ship at 11:15 am. The announcement that all rooms were ready was made at 1:00 pm. The delay in getting into my stateroom will not make or break a cruise for me. This will be my 57th cruise. I'm confident, I will enjoy the sailing as I have done on all but one...a disastrous Costa cruise.
  2. I have sailed on four different cruise lines since Covid. The very latest we were allowed into our room was 2:00 pm. If the poster is correct and room access could be as late as 3:30, I find that unacceptable...unless there is some mitigating issue, such as a late CG inspection.

  5. The difference in pricing is if they make mocktails using non-alcoholic spirits. The cost for those spirits is $26.00 to $35.00 and up USD per quart. The non-alcoholic spirits taste amazingly like the alcoholic varieties.
  6. I have seen them used on several different cruise lines. Particularly when the pools are deep. We were on one sailing on Princess where a young 20-something had one of those huge pink flamingo floats. It took up a huge amount of space. The one I have is small; I've had knee issues that haven't allowed me to swim, so I usually take it with me to use on the beach. My knee issue is now corrected, so I can happily tread water.
  7. me too. I’m a pool person. I love to soak up the sun and find new floating friends.
  8. Yikes! Looks like I'll be treading water. Does anyone know if you can bring a floatie with you? I have a blow-up pool seat that is not too large.
  9. We have reservations with Premier Cruise Parking at Baymarket for about $12.00 daily. We will arrive in January on Wednesday and return on Sunday for a 12-day cruise. The parking lot is covered and appears secure. The reviews for this company mostly complain about the time it takes to get the shuttle. We are considering taking an Uber if the shuttle is delayed. Has anyone used this company? How difficult would it be to take an Uber from this location? Looking forward to your input.
  10. Of course not. Several times, we have enjoyed an island so much on a cruise that we planned to visit again on an extended land vacation.
  11. Blue Waters is an elegant British-style resort. I would not recommend a day pass as you will not receive the same outstanding service as guests staying for a vacation. Plan to stay for a whole week to experience the features at Blue Waters. This is not a good resort to stay for a day.
  12. Reports are that Beach Limerz had some devastation from a recent storm, and the beach has been heavily damaged.
  13. My husband enjoys non-alcoholic wine and spirits. Many local restaurants are now serving creative mocktails made with non-alcoholic spirits. Does Azamara offer those options onboard their ships?
  14. This was on the Divina. To me, that meant that extra service we received from the waitstaff even more amazing.
  15. All you need to do is to ask your concierge to make a reservation for you in the MDR. They will put you in the upgraded section reserved for suites. We were able to order prime rib in the YC that was on the MDR menu. We met some very savy repeat YC passengers who would order from the YC restaurant lunch menu to be served pool side. Waiters from the restaurant would bring up the orders. The wings and egg rolls were delicious.
  16. We just booked our second Azamara cruise. Our first was 12 years ago, so I realize things have changed. We are very excited by this itinerary as it is the Ireland-intensive July 2024 cruise. I only am able to see excursions listed for two ports. The excursions do not include pricing. Is this normal? If so, when can we expect to see excursions listed for all ports?
  17. My best experience in over 50 cruises was our Azamara cruise event in Crete. We tendered into the town square, where we witnessed a typical Greek wedding with the bride and groom arriving via horseback, followed by their entourage. We were treated like wedding guests; native-dressed locals passed delightful Greek pastries, and the wine flowed while actors who played the parts of groomsmen, bridesmaids, and parents performed native dances. The bridal party visited each table and posed for photos. After the ceremony, we all got up and danced with the captain and many ship's officers. As the bridal couple left, fireworks went off in the harbor. We were in a roped-off area of the square. However, hundreds of onlookers watched and cheered along with us. The beautiful night, music, merriment, and the pure joy of the participants truly made it an Azamazing evening. Interestingly, the Captain had mentioned in his daily announcement that the evening event might need to be canceled due to rough seas, and a decision would be made later that day. In his remarks at the "wedding," he said that he had been stressing all day about needing to cancel the event as he was looking forward to the evening.
  18. I had two Nile cruises canceled at the last minute due to unrest in the area; I finally gave up years ago.
  19. Sadly, that part of the World can erupt at any time. I am hoping that everyone currently onboard is safe.
  20. We enjoyed sailing on Celebrity...until this January's Apex and Edge cruises. The food selections and quality were not up to par. I don't think it would have bothered us as much had we not had 20 days on X. But we realized that food selection and quality were more important to us than we realized. We are now looking at 2024/2025 sailings on X. Nine months have passed since our last X sailings, and we would love to know if recent cruisers have had the same issues with food that we had in January or has Celebrity brought their food offerings back to pre-2023 standards? I would love to hear from recent X cruisers.
  21. Many neighbors in our over 55 active adult community have returned from Europe with COVID and flu in the last few weeks. Airline travel appears to be the culprit in most cases; a few mentioned that their river cruises had several passengers who coughed quite a bit. Those folks began feeling ill on the plane home and tested positive for Covid the next day. Covid and the flu are now too prevalent to escape when traveling. We take all precautions, are up to date on our vaccinations, bring medicine with us, and cross our fingers.
  22. Insurance companies frown on partial coverage. I was always told to insure the full trip cost to avoid complications and reduction of coverage. You did the right thing by upgrading your coverage.
  23. Hi Gary...The anticipation of a trip truly excites me. The planning is a delightful challenge. Due to the pandemic and the need for a knee operation or two for my husband and me, we have canceled four planned trips in the last few years. My Marriott Bonvoy account is a roller coaster of ups and downs due to my cancellations and rebooking. My TA's patience is noble. I should be packing for a lovely Canada New England trip next week...instead, I'll be getting a new knee. I started a roll call for the journey I was forced to cancel. I'm still active on that site and getting tips for our trip next year. That trip has evolved from a simple Canada/ New England 10-day trip to a 26-day NYC to Copenhagen on O sailing the Arctic Circle. This happens when my dear husband says, "I would like to see Iceland. Can we do that on a Canada cruise?" We have rationalized the extended cruise by counting the trips we missed. I'm very fortunate to have a partner ready to go anywhere as long as he doesn't need to plan the trip.
  24. If you live close enough, Total Wines has Ariel Cab for just $8.99 with a 10 percent discount when you buy the case. Some of my husband's favorites are Be Well at $14.99 & Be Free at $9.99...both are Cabs. Plus, Total Wines ships. He loves the non-alcoholic spirits Total Wines sells called Ritual which has Gin, Rum, Tequila, and vodka non-alcoholic for about $27.00 per fifth. No one can tell the difference in the rum when used as a mixer. The tequila in the margaritas is also amazing. He plans to pay the extra $30.00 per day for the premium drink package on O as they offer all these special non-alcoholic drinks. He enjoys sipping a decent wine with dinner and the ability to have a decent mocktail when we dine out. It's so nice to have options.
  25. I have sailed on Celebrity, Carnival, RCCl, Princess, and HAL. You do not want to sail on HAL...you are way too young for the clientele onboard. Shoot, I was 72 at the time and too young! Try Celebrity or Princess; you would enjoy those two more than HAL.
