  1. On the cruises I have done they take attendance. Princess scans your ship card and HAL takes roll call. So I doubt you can skip it. Nor should you. It's mandatory for a reason - all our safety.

    this.

I also noticed on an airplane, no one listens to the instructions. Delta did something fun...they played a video with comedy in it, and people paid attention.

On my first cruise on the Bahamas Celebration, they had the comic lead the drill. I can STILL remember what he said lol

THIS time, my kids and grandkids will be along. They will be paying attention very closely, if I have my way :)

  2. This will be my 3rd Alaskan cruise.

All in May, or the 1st week of June.

It was sunny in Seattle, and ALL the ports, with maybe a little sprinkle in Skagway. Even Ketchikan was sunny :)

I am hoping beyond hope, that I can have that experience again 10 days from now.

  3. For me, for Alaska, the port side of the ship ON my balcony is my favorite place. When it pulled up to Margerie Glacier in Glacier Bay....it was so peaceful and beautiful. I filmed the glacier calving. I couldn't have heard that anywhere but my balcony.

    editing...did I mention 10 more days?!!!???!!

and..I love the Pearl. Have sailed her 3 times, No4 coming up :D

    :D

  4. wondering something.

we'll be docking in Seattle on June 1st.

    going through immigration, obviously there.

So, instead of trying to find my luggage in that MASS pile, I could take mine with me off the ship and just get in the immigration line. That sounds much more efficient to me.

  5. LOVE your review, and agree with a post up there. Very few reviews, it seems.

I find the buffet on the Pearl to be incredible, it's funny you don't like it, but we're all different, I guess.

we went to the White Hot Party a couple of times, and the 1st time was great, but this last time, I hadn't heard any of the music, so I left lol

    11 more days!!!!!

  6. :D

I agree. I've searched the threads and have asked a question that has been asked and answered for a couple of reasons. 1. There may be newer information. 2. I like hearing different perspectives. If a new post isn't created then it's not likely that a group of new people will add their opinions or knowledge.

What I can never understand is why people who don't want to read a post about the same questions over and over bother to look into a thread about things like can you bring on your own wine or when is formal night? If they aren't interested then why not skim right past the thread?

I say ignore the search, ask your questions and laugh at anyone who bashes you for it!

    AAAAAAAAAAAAMEN!!!!

I will search occasionally, and most of the time, I can't find it, so i post a new question. I'm with you. If someone doesn't want to read the thread, feel free to move on.

  7. when coming back INTO port during disembarkation...no one's been asked for forms? Even when it's a closed loop, they have to stop in a foreign country usually, and there's immigration when disembarking at the end of the cruise. you would think they would check closer

  8. I do know the KISS Kruise is in October of this year. wish I was on that one!!

why worry? Just look at the dates and see if it's booked for that time period. I've never had trouble getting a cruise and this will be my 4th time on the Pearl :o I might realllly love this ship :D

  9. they ARE mentioned together in the same article, and the Breakaway was in the channel, so it would lead one to believe that it's linked *shrug* NCL didn't comment though

Dead Whale Impaled on Luxury Liner, Officials Say

By Janon Fisher and Aidan G

BROOKLYN — A whale found dead in New York Harbor Monday morning is believed to have been impaled on the bow of a luxury cruise ship over the weekend, authorities said.

The Norwegian Breakaway, a 1,068-foot luxury liner, was stranded for several hours on Sunday and had to be towed to Pier 88 due to propeller problems, according to a New York Post report.

A cruise line spokeswoman did not respond to a request of comment.

  10. So true what you said Carol, that's exactly what I did.Went to the buffet for a bite to eat, and back to my cabin to wait, as instructed.

yep. even not being on the ship today, I heard the instructions. too bad other's didn't.

hope you had a wonderful time :)

  11. the picture on the news website showed the Norwegian Sun *shrug*

  12. We're never ready for tourist season:D Actually, the tour providers and shop are looking forward to it...

We should be getting closet to 1.5 million people this year. Cruise ships alone brought up over 968,000 last year and this year is supposed to be better.

Fish & Game is warning people that the bears are up and out again. The sea gulls are coming back and we are having beautiful weather.

    Can't complain.

Enjoy your trip up here and have fun.

31 days for me!!! The bears are up and out.....is there a chance to rent a car and drive a ways to see bear? I'm on the Inside Passage cruise coming up. We have all our excursions booked, but there is a lot of extra time in Skagway..

  13. How about water? Can I bring a flat of water on with me?

this is from the NCL question and answer section...

so, this is my answer. We will be parked in the Bell street parking garage, and will have to drag the frig packs across the street, then hopefully, they will take it to my room for me :)

Can we bring a case of arrowhead water on board?

You are allowed to bring your own sodas, juices and water. You can check them or carry them on board. The products must be sealed or risk confiscation by the security. Make sure you tag them with your room tags so that they are delivered to your stateroom along with your luggage.

In some ports, they will not check in your soda/water cases with your bags but you can still carry them onboard with you.

  14. How about water? Can I bring a flat of water on with me?

the water on the ship is perfectly fine, they purify it. The only thing I can't use it for is the humidifier on my CPAP....need distilled.
