  1. As I read all the comments offered - it is obvious that people have different perspectives and views about Dynamic Dining. Everyone seems to agree that the ship itself is beautiful - or at least most people. I am not against dynamic dining - however, if my reservations that were made over 8 months ago were lost to a computer glitch - I would be upset if told I could not be accommodated. Also, I just talked to a friend who was on last sailing and confirmed that there are NO assistant waiters, and that service is extremely slow because of that. I just think we need to realize everyone has a right to their opinion, and we should be respectful of them - whether they loved Quantum or hated Quantum. I have not yet sailed - so I am reading all of this and hoping that more positive comments will be forthcoming. Smooth and happy sailing to all!

  2. I agree - we need to try this new method of dining. However, it is extremely frustrating to book dinner reservations. Even 8 months out - we could not get a one reservation for 6 pm. Some nights 5:45, some 6:30, some 6:15, etc. As long as we are done in time to make our shows - fine. I just find it hard to believe that 8 months out we could not get the times we wanted. There was NO problem, however, getting the times we wanted in the specialty pay restaurants. I find that interesting. However, what concerns me is that friends of ours are sailing now - and they had NO record of their reservations. Even though they had all their email confirmations, they said nothing till 9 pm. Thousands of dollars spent and this happens? They really need to get the reservation computer system working. Then one week before their sailing - show times were changed, and they had to try to reschedule one dinner reservation. Nothing was available (except pay restaurants) so they had to go to the WJ.

I really am not negative about the idea of dynamic dining and rotating through restaurants, but there is just too much aggravation - NOT what a vacation is supposed to be. I hope things soon get more organized. Likewise NO assistant waiters on this ship which impacts service.

    Time will tell -

  3. We are two couples traveling together. We had our dinner reservations linked, when we made reservations for both dinner AND entertainment the other couples names appeared AFTER we made each reservation to see that they will be linked at the same time as us. We all received emails confirming all our reservations together with each day and time documented. I will be taking these emails with us in case there is any problem. I am hoping the Dynamic Dining will be worth all this planning and trouble.

  4. Thanks for posting that pic - now it all makes sense. Actually might be better than a side by side sink like the traditional grand suite. I still wish we could get rid of BOTH of those dividers on the corner of the wrap around balcony. Will just have to live with that - ha - not a real problem, I guess - can't wait till March to sail - love those floor to ceiling windows AND the large porthole - which make the suite look even larger. Did you use room service at all- was there a fee even though in a suite?? That is the last of my questions - you have a lot of good memories about this ship. Thanks again!

  5. We booked all our shows for March 1 about 3 weeks ago. So you should be able to book soon. Please check on them periodically AFTER you book, as they added a comedy show and I had to do that one later. They should send emails to us when it is time to book, rather than just keep checking on our own. Between dining and entertainment, it becomes frustrating - as web site often not working - especially tricky to book others NOT in your cabin even if reservations are linked. Once on board, we will have a great time, but this system needs to be refined and made easier.

  6. HI Ken and Paulette -

LOVING all your pics and your suite IS amazing. Can you please take a pic of the area of the balcony that wraps around the hump. (I know it is cold outside - thanks). Someone said the divider blocks the view of the wrap around and can only be opened halfway??? If so, this is a little disappointing as we have this cabin at hump - and was hoping for a true wrap around like aft wrap around on other ships. Let us know your thoughts - the rest of the suite looks wonderful. Again - thanks for all your time, and pics - anxious to hear your opinion and hope that this feature is not a real negative. Not trying to be a downer - just hoping the entire divider could be removed. ENJOY!!!!

  7. Great pic of Cape Liberty with different areas highlighted. Can't wait to see your pics of the ship - I am sure they will be the best yet. You always do such a great job - we all appreciate the time you take to send us those great quality pictures. If you do a cabin crawl and get into a superior grand suite (on front corner of hump on both sides of the ship) - please check out balcony - looks like only 1 panel divider can be removed - one remaining divider blocks a wrap around view. Enjoy your cruise - can't wait to see your posts!!!

  8. Can't wait to see all your pics and comments. One disappointment is that there is now a service charge for room service. That is a take away that many don't appreciate - just keep your ears open to see if there is any chance this could change. If one pays the bucks to book a suite, I would hope all room service would be included at least in suite level cabins. I know there are many wows on this ship - just wish that room service charges would not have been initiated. Looking forward to your opinions on dynamic dining. I was a traditional dining lover - but am anxious to see how this works out. I think once on ship I will love it - it has just been a real pain making reservations with website problems and LONG phone calls with customer service. I am a loyal Royal and will be Diamond Plus after sailing Quantum. This smart ship also needs a smart web site. I think once on board all the frustrations will be forgotten but look forward to a realistic review and opinion from you who is actually ON the ship. Wishing you safe travels and smooth sailing!!! ENJOY!!!

  9. Dynamic dining might be wonderful - but making reservations is crazy. I booked first day it opened and I could not get ONE reservation for 6:00. However, the c/s rep said all the specialy restaurants have openings at 6:00. I did make one - but did the rest in the "free" restaurants for different times. Is this a ploy to gently persuade us to make more reservations in specialty to make more money.. Could they ALL be filled for 6 the first day opened - really??

  10. I like your attitude - mature - we all have a right to our own opinions. I DO feel that this is a major take away - I like that you let RCI know how you feel. They decided to change their minds and give the WOWbands free - yes, only $2 - but figure how much money they could have collected for all the Quantum passengers who wanted them. Maybe they will change their minds on this issue - but the money for the bumper cars, North Star, and Ifly had to come from somewhere. I am sure those 3 things were MAJOR costs to be added to the ship, and no charge for using those. Many people will not use those things, but my opinion is that really made the price of this ship jump even higher. Royal is a business, and they need to make money to profit.

People will have to decide to weigh the pros and cons of Royal Caribbean. Either accept the changes or go to another line. We are Diamond Plus and have been very loyal - will we be disappointed enough to go to another line? That will be decided after we sail Quantum. We loved traditional dining - but maybe we will love Dynamic Dining once we try it (even though reservations were a pain to make - with all the computer problems). Hopefully, as time moves on this will get better.

    - YES, I am very disappointed about the room service change. However, I must wait till we sail Quantum to form an overall opinion. Glass half full _ or half empty.

One last point - at the food reveal in NYC we were told that Dynamic Dining would NOT be transferred to other ships till they see how well it worked on Quantum. Well, Quantum has not had much sailing time and ALREADY it is on Oasis, and going to Allure and Voyager That is not what we were told. Also, they said it would not go fleet wide, and passengers could select a ship that meets their choices - traditional or dynamic dining. I hope that is true - and that dynamic does not go to all ships.

I think all these comments from those that sailed have us really thinking - some issues of concern were not just because an inaugural maiden sailing.

We have been very loyal Royals - and I honestly hope we feel the same way after Quantum.

  11. I read that WOWbands will now be FREE - no charge. Now, let's do the same with room service!! For those of you that used wow bands - if you bought a drink package OR have 3 drinks per day for Diamond member - could you use the wow band for that or did you need your sea pass cards to get drinks?? Also, read need sea pass card to disembark at ports of call- with all the technology with wow band - would think you could use band for that as well.

Those who sailed Quantum please explain how it worked for you - thanks so much!!
