  1. on Ascent for my big birthday, we posed for photos almost every night.. at various stations. Some had set back drops some were green screen Some were chic night, some casual.. We bought a package of either 10 or 12, 8 x 10s..Got a lovely album..they threw in a nice ship's photo and a few free pics. Very nice photos, the photo staff were great and patient..Printed it all out and then loaded it onto my phone. I do not recall the price..but itwas reasonable and we are pleased. here are a few examples
  2. Jimmy Buffet style music and reggae/ island music were once Carib cruise classics..along with the harpist, string quartet, orchestra and a band. Piano player too Much is diff now, but they seem to do some nice jazz and club music! Rap is a def no no, and I am a purist.. I do not care for electrified string instruments. On ASCENT, there were many choices .. great acoustic duos, groups..salsa, an amazing line up..even good DJs..but very loud at times
  3. on the ship you can check future X cruises, and use the app which we do not use.. We have no need to go back and forth with others on board. We use the telephone or sticky notes.. OP posted: "I was pleased to have a package with WiFi included. Unfortunately this is another trick to take your money. While it does include a basic access to the Internet you find that you cannot even send a single. ...etc" Topic of concern was being unable to send e mails and photos..which is what most want to do.( unless working from the ship) .I get that others want to do much more but not all are into tech stuff..esp on a cruise!
  4. Last Dance obviously prefers Europe. We've enjoyed a few cruises there but it's a long way for us to travel at this time. We have.seen the highlights, historic landmarks, museums, chuches etc,, and the beauty of Greece, Italy, Spain and France. For now we prefer cruising closer to home more for relaxation and enjoyment over touring. Our Ascent cruise offered a visit to Nevis, that had it all: beaches, luxury resort, great restaurants and full immersion in history..The Alexander Hamilton aspect of the excursion..was amazing..Focus on history and democracy.. Glad we all have choices..We also liked Sandals in Nassau. Surprisingly, a very mature, well travelled international clientele....not just for honeymooners! We have two more booked on X..then we'll decide what's next..maybe Cunard.
  5. Enjoyed the review.. How long will it take to trim that weight down.? Was it worth it? What were your favorites? Elevator situation sounds very bad..hope you and your mom get off the ship OK..Safe trvls!
  6. me too..have not noticed that at our Fl Publix! Looks fresh! As for rain..here in NY, we are having a deluge day! Hope Sailaway is dry!
  7. I though the hair dryer provided was powerful enough for my curly frizzy hair, but had a short cord and must hold the "on" button.. Nice that ASCENT had a outlet under bthrm console. did not have to use the main area desk!
  8. ASCENT 1/28.. awesome but yes loud. one show was too much and I forgot the earplugs but we had a great time Overall!
  9. oh.. that must be the class X trains their staff with!
  10. I had the Basic Wifi and did a very long " Live from" ASCENT review, posting many photos, several at a time, from my Samsung cell phone gallery. I only sent a few e mails but they did include photos. Maybe ASCENT is more up to date..??? Also had no issues on BEYOND .
  11. We had a week on ASCENT in AQ class (1/28) . X has stepped up in quality once again in all areas, at least on this ship.We did not feel "ripped off", and felt we received good value for what we paid! only negs were the crowded outdoor pool with loud music always, and sports/ games all over during daytime... golf putting in EDEN, curling in the Club, Pickle ball set up in Rooftop Garden area (plink plink). But we managed to find some spaces where we could read and do our daily puzzles.. Cafe Baccio was very mellow..good service. How lucky you were to have 7 weeks on ASCENT in AQ Class! We also enjoyed Specialty Dining but thought BLU was exceptional!
  12. Cobb salad not looking impressive.. My usual fav is the Wedge..if the dressing is good so no Prime Rib order*
  13. I do agree about having sports all over the place on ASCENT...golf putting in EDEN , Pickle Ball on the Roof top garden, curling in the Club...hard to find a mellow place!
  14. We like it at select venues! It's classic & classy, or are u pulling our leg again,
  15. We like E Class ...as seniors we miss out on some of the late night stuff but are happy as it is. A ship can appeal to more than one type of cruiser..teens, couples, singles etc. The key is a Modern Luxury experience, rather than pigeon- holing guests. Great food, service and entertainment are what we look for.. Example.. on ASCENT during one day, the younger cruisers seemed to enjoy the outdoor pool, loud music and beach party vibe. At the same time, a diff crowd was SRO around the Grand Plaza area enjoying a top notch show with a Bllly Joel tribute singer.. No one was unhappy!
  16. we had a bad storm on Mercury yrs ago going back to port thru straits of fl(?) The ship listed so bad we both fell.out of bed....but the captain came on PA in hallway & said stay in rms and remain calm...right! Glad not in a bunk bed..Tuck your mom in real good and secure the cabin.. Next a.m., we learned of many broken dishes in mdr.. staff worked all nite to clean up. The storm caused slider doors on main deck to malfunction.. open..major floods on main decks. We sloshed thru breakfast and carefully wheeled our carry-ons off the ship.. Big delay for those joining! Just another cruise adventure! Stay safe!
  17. stay close to ur life jackets..esp for ur mom!
  18. has been a cold and rainy winter in Florida but hope Spring is better..Carib will def be warm and hopefully sunny!
  19. my husb does ALL our cooking..he is really a top notch chef..keeps him busy..he also does the laundry!
