  1. I am pretty much the same person, but we don't eat out every night at home , so I do dress up more when on a ship. I live in California so I have swimware , but I don't go out in public much with a swim suit , on the ship I will go swimming quite often. So that is different. We don't drink much , mostly wine before dinner , so that is the same. And we do go on excursions at most every port , so that is different also. But I am who I am , on a ship or off. Have met so many nice people on cruises , that we really enjoy our cruises.

  2. I am one of those who still ware the panty hose, true , very sheer , but my old legs just don't look so good as some of the young ladies on these boards , who never ware the panty hose and the little extra smoothing that you get with them is beneficial as well , honestly I never heard anyone on a ship say , "Oh dear that person is waring pantyhose" , I think you should ware what is comfortable for you.

  3. I also miss the real 14 day Caribbean cruises , we have done a couple of them a few years back, now I don't care to go back to Ft. Lau. in the middle and spend two days at Princess Cay, I know it is probably a cost consideration , but I sure wish they would offer them again, even once in awhile. We can't go during the holidays , so the Ocean cruise mentioned before doesn't work for us. I wish it would work for us ,I would book it.....

  4. Hi , I agree with Pam , you need extra time here in LA , it just takes one fender bender on one of the freeways, especially the 405, to cause major traffic jams , allow your self plenty of time, and the shuttle or something like that is the best bet ,public transport like the red line is not a good option, it doesn't connect with the port at all. Have lived here all my life and I ALWAYS allow extra time, and I am only 20 min. from the port. If you plan another trip out this way , you might consider Long Beach Airport, easy peasy to get to and from and closer to the San Pedro port facility. Have a great cruise.

  5. We were not allowed to book last year from a US Port to a Canadian, then from the Canadian port to a different US port on the same ship and the next cruise as we were told it violated the PSA.

Hope it works out for you.

Same thing happened to us , not able to do that booking , tried 5 ways to sunday , no luck . HOpe it works for you. We ended up staying in Vancouver for 4 days then getting another cruise down the coast to LA .

  6. Hi , we have been on the Coral twice recently , both times Emerald aft, and once thru the Panama Canal , great place to view the transit, and once Alaska Glacier Bay and Hubbard Glacier viewing both really nice place , not busy and good viewing . Have a great time on your cruise.

  7. I had seen this thread a couple weeks ago , since then we have been looking at the options for Caribbean cruises (Princess), we have been to the Caribbean several times and have been to most islands, and yes we have been to Jamaica, we did a snorkel excursion, we enjoyed that , but did not care for the land portion, being escorted back to the ship by persons with guns ( they did keep us safe however) is not my idea of a relaxing trip. So having said that , I will not be booking any cruise that includes Jamaica , that is just my personal choice. After checking the cruises available thru Princess , really there is not that many choices, they used to have a nice 14 day East/Southern route, only 14 day I see now is a 7 day return to FL and then another 7 day one of which includes Jamaica. Would prefer to cruise Princess , but now am looking at other options. I might call Princess and see if they are indeed going to Jamaica or not.

  8. Hi , we did the 7 day land tour first this Sept. Oct. Then the cruise portion down to Vancouver. We did it late in the season , really enjoyed it alot. Only thing you need to consider is some of the long bus trips on some of the tours, should ask your family if that is what they would like, we did a 10 hour train trip back down to Whittier , we really enjoyed that as well, I noticed some people have mentioned they did not like that , but we did. It was just so beautiful in Alaska . We did not do the connoissuer tour, so our meals and excursions were additional. Our tour was the "Off the Beaten Path " tour , Anchorage to Copper River ( across the old Denali Hwy) to Denali , then the train to Whittier. There are so many different tours, a TA would be able to probably tell you which would suit your family the best. Hope you and your family have a wonderful time. P. S check the usual weather patterns for May , think you might have a lot of rain. Someone else might be able to answer that for you,

  9. I was at Goodwill yesterday in Deerfield Beach, scored a Talbot's blouse-again looked like it was never worn..$6. We went to another Goodwill in Delray Beach as we were on a road trip and although not clothes-scored some vintage 1960s-1970s green glass (I collect green class) for $1 each per mug and tray. Today we're going to another one closer to our home as I'm looking for a waffle iron. The other thing I get at second hand stores is my "old school" cooking things-I can't tell you how many brand new bread makers, waffle irons, etc. I've seen, I even bought 2 dressers from the Art Deco era and paid $40 once. Happy for the bargains I can pick up, but also a grim reminder of how much waste we have in this country!

I could use a new bread maker, mine is getting old , but we love the fresh bread , especially in the winter months , nothing beats the smell of baking bread when you come into a house. I am going to keep an eye out for a bread maker , don't think I have ever seen one in a goodwill , so now I have something to look for. My daughter also love to browse in thrift stores, she has gotten some really nice things for her home.

  10. I am glad to hear that you enjoyed the Delta Suites. It is a hotel that when I used to work:eek: that many of my colleagues like to stay at for the extra room and it's relative location to our offices in the Vancouver Centre complex. It tends to get overlooked by us unless a poster mentions it only because it's location tends to anchor the eastern end of the downtown business community, however, as you found out, it's location is great for cruisers and Delta are great hotel operators.

Hi , thanks for the information , we had a great time , really enjoyed our time in Vancouver and hope to return sometime. The Delta Suites was exactly what we needed.

  11. HI all, well you already know that I think Bill should have gone home weeks ago , so I won't say it again.

Did not care for Brookes dress, not a fan of Carrie Anns dress. Thought that Emma needed more clothes. And I am cheering for Jack now. Now that you mention it Maks does have a bit of a Rock Hudson look about him, and yes he was very polite , not like him at all.

    See what happens next.

  12. Hi, we visited Vancouver for 4 days in Sept. , we had a great time , it was between cruises so we wanted to stay downtown, the people on these boards we kind enough to give us some information and advice, and I booked a downtown 4 star through Hotwire and got the Delta Vancouver Suites, a $5 cab ride from the port, it was perfect location for getting around , just steps from a Tim Hortons for coffee and breakfast, around the corner a BC Liquior for getting wine before the cruise, couple blocks from a convience store, one block from the stop for the Big Bus ( which is a good value, it takes you all over Vancouver). And the hotel is just a short walk from Gastown. And we could see Canada Place and a peak at the cruise ships in harbor. The staff at the hotel were very helpful and accomodating. It worked really well for us. The information we got from Putterdude, scottbee and martincath was really helpful to us.

  13. Hi, we just did a Princess land tour in Sept. And went from Anchorage hotel to Copper River Lodge , then to Denali Lodge then the train back down to Whittier and got on the ship . For us it was perfect , we loved it, our favorite was Copper River Lodge , it is smaller but it had a restuarant and bar on site and the scenery is spectacular, the staff there was wonderful. The Denali Lodge is a different experience, it is very large, but has most anything you would need right at the lodge, restaurants , stores, it is a lovely place, and of corse the tour into Denali is lovely as well. And we thought the train ride back down to Whitter was fun, had a great time. The cruise down to Vancouver , went to Hubbard Glacier, Glacier Bay, Skagway, Juneau, Ketchikan, then Vancouver. Vancouver is fun to explore as well, if you have time include it as well.

  14. WE just did a land tour with Princess this Sept. , loved it , but we did our research prior to booking so we knew what to expect. Our hotel in anchorage was included, Our transportation from each location was included , the lodges where we stayed were included, the dome train was included, and a tour in Denali was included. The food is not included, any additional tours were not included, tips not included. But there is a tour on Princess I believe it is the Concierge tour that includes most of that stuff, but is more expensive to begin with . So do your research on any cruise line before you book.

Alaska is beautiful , you will love it.

  15. We have not sailed with HA , so can not comment on that, but we have sailed Alaska with Princess twice, the last time was this Sept. after a Princess land tour , and it was just wonderful , we loved the land tour and we love the cruise also, it all depends on what is important to you and your party as to itinerary, and activities on the ship , etc. Good luck I hope it all works out well for you and have a wonderful trip.

  16. Have used all three of the airlines, Delta , Alaska and Jet Blue, our preference would be Jet Blue , 1 free checked bag , tv at every seat. Plus we pay a bit more and get the extra room seats for more leg room , husband is tall 6'6" and those seats give him plenty of room.
