Taking Spirit Airlines to Fort Lauderdale unfortunately so I have to watch every ounce. 😁

In my humble opinion, this right here is exactly why I think the dress codes (other than maybe no bathing suits…) need to be done away with.  For folks who fly in, it adds coat to have to pack that much extra. Times have changed. What someone else wears to dinner doesn’t have that much of an impact on my enjoyment of the experience. If someone wants to dress up, they should. If someone doesn’t, they shouldn’t feel like they can’t experience the offerings because they can’t.  I can go on and on about this, but I won’t.

    Have a great trip! 😊

Just curious.....how dressy was this trip?  I am on her this Saturday and have yet to pack.  Figured I would leave the dinner jacket at home this trip as I have been hearing RCI is on par with Carnival these days.  And believe me my last cruise with them on the Radiance a month ago was a free for all!

Full spectrum of dressiness. We had the UDP and ate in the specialty restaurants the whole week, so I can’t speak to the MDR. People showed up in tuxes and others showed up in shorts and tees. No one was turned away wearing shorts.  So, I’d describe it as a free for all on Allure, too.

This boardwalk area looks different than I'd remembered...  are the carousel and the hotdog stands missing now?   I remembered it being a bit more full & carnival-esque and vibrant...

    ???

The carousel is in middle of the picture. It’s got the blue and white top on it. The hot dog stand is off to the left. The picture was taken from the walkway into the boardwalk area, so the hot dog stand is obscured.

  4. In the spring, we decided to finally upgrade our hurricane wood to accordion shutters. Signed the contract in April and were told 16-20 weeks for installation.  They are supposed to be installed on the 3rd. 😢 But, we’re on the east coast.  And we are supposed to be leaving on a cruise next Saturday.  😭😭  Won’t be able to if the storm hits Tampa badly as my parents live there. We’ll need to help them out if it’s bad over there.

  5. I would rather show up a little bit later after they have already started boarding than have to sit there and wait.  Even if we are paying for the priority boarding perk, I would rather just walk right onto the ship. I’ll be very happy with a different security line instead of the regular line on my upcoming Allure. I purposely picked an 11:30 time to try to avoid sitting in the waiting area.

According to Captain Johnny who probably knows more than we do, Oasis class always tries to dock starboard side because that side has the escalator and makes it more convenient to disembark and embark passengers. Biggest exception is when they need to run lifeboat drills on the starboard side, then they will dock port side.

I’m hoping for a lot of starboard lifeboat drills for our upcoming trip. We normally sail starboard just because and had to take a port on Allure. 😂 I like to watch the pier runners at departure…………

I wasn't thrilled the first time I cruised after they started leaving the cards on the door... My fear was they would take my card and charge up a bunch of crap before I got to the room! Then I saw my picture came up when they scan for purchases and that fear went away 😄
I would have never even concidered someone in my room!!
So many strange questions running through my head!!

Were you in a higher class cabin than then and they just randomly picked a cabin to squat in?

Did hey think it was there room?

Did they offer to show you any proof that it was their room?
    Did they have any explanation?

When Royal did get there, I would imagine they were polite with the squatters, did they offer any explanation to either party?

I look back on it now and think it was an honest mistake. They didn’t speak much English and just went to the wrong room. But what got me was they still didn’t want to leave even when we were showing them our name on things. And the Royal folks weren’t polite to EITHER side when they finally got there. I insisted they change the sheets on the bed and they begrudgingly said they would. Not sure if they actually did or just straightened the sheets a bit. The stewardess was rude to us the rest of the trip. First time ever we didn’t tip extra to our cabin attendant.  I don’t think they ever replaced the cookie plate they ate, either. Lol! Needless to say, the rest of the trip didn’t go well after that. It was kind of like a bad omen. One of the bad things was since they keys were missing outside the door, we first had to trek all the way down to Guest Services before we even knew they were in there with all of our carry on items we had been expecting to drop off, wait in line for a half hour, be berated that the keys “should be there” (I had taken a picture that they weren’t), and then trek all the way back to find them sitting there. Bad way to start a cruise.

Yes they’ll be in an envelope in their “mailbox” outside their door. They don’t give them out at check in anymore.

Not a fan of this since we found someone else in our room on the Allure eating our snacks and sitting on our bed AND they refused to leave. Took anyone from Royal over an hour to come up and get them out.
