  2. Anchored above the VZ Bridge off of Stapleton Staten Island.

From Social Media, possible computer problem.

All ok on board from posted passenger.

Hoping for problem to be resolved tonight, over night or tomorrow.

Some services may be affected on board.

The word on social media is that QM2 suffered a loss of shoreside power this afternoon while docked at the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal. That power loss apparently caused problems with some internal systems which need to be sorted out before she can continue on to Southampton. She left the cruise terminal and is now at an anchorage to sort out those issues.

    Thank You....

I can see her from our home.....

Sticky Toffee Pudding. Only because it's one of my favorite deserts and it's not seen very often at home. It's almost always available in the Golden Lion, and it shows up on the MDR menus sometimes, too.

I believe it's a dessert in Vernadh isn't it. Had it once there at Lunch time.

The Queen Mary 2.  It would be our first Cunard cruise - we have been on numerous cruises; however, we like the idea of sailing from either New York or Boston - avoiding flights to and from Europe.

    Good Hunting for the Lights.....

When we took our sailing in July, that time of year, it's daylight 24 hours a day and would not see the lights.

This time of year will give you the opportunity to view them.

  6. When we traveled on a cruise in the past twice our ship would tender to both Goat Island and would have to walk to land.

Also the tender stop would be along the shore which would be more convenient.

You would have to see where the tender would dock for your particular ship.

  7. Meldal,

WOW you selected a wonderful voyage "Norway and Northern Lights" in 2025.

We have did it on the QE2 longtime ago in the past but it is one of our favorite sailings to always remember. We also did in the month of July not in the fall of the year. So I can't help you with that experience.

Norway is a welcoming Country to experience and the scenery also should be captured for your memories.

We have a QM2 Caribbean in 2025 and know it is a distance away from yours but your time will pass as ours is on the calendar.

Wish you well with your planning.

Breaking news.  47kt wind, we just aborted Sept Iles.

    Roy

We had heavy winds last year but docked. But at the end of the day, we were delayed from backing out of the dock. Delayed by 2-3 hours.

It was a simple port of call to visit.

  9. Welcome First Time Cruiser,

Officially it's 49 year ago we were in your shoes boarding a ship to sail for the very first time.

You have an exciting and an adventurous part of your life you will remember. You have Caught the "Cruise Bug"!

We of course we will board like everyone does. Being sort of Pro's - we go directly to the cabin/suite(not room) to see it and drop off any unnecessary carry on luggage. Maybe place any important documents in the safe located in the cabin. But keep your Voyage ID Card with you all the time. You will need it to enter your room or charge any purchases to you on board account.

I think everyone agrees after a busy morning/early afternoon, to head to have a lunch. Either in the restaurant or buffet. Just remember, few hours later you will be at your first dinner. Leave Space.

We like to return to our cabin and go thru any documents and paperwork that would be left for you on your desk. May be information like the Daily Programme of activities, Shore Excursion info, etc....

Be familiar with the location where your muster station/boat drill will be held. Should be located inside your cabin.

Take some important clothing out that maybe needs to be hung.

Maybe now stroll around the ship with a ships map supplied to you. Get your bearings.

See what the outside decks look like.

Attend the Boat Drill. Find out how your particular ship holds them.

Afterward like everyone looks forward to, the Sailaway of the Ship. Leaving the dock, and heading to the open waters for the first time and enjoying the experience.

You can even scan thru the Programme to see what other activities will be held the rest of the day.

After the sailaway, most likely heading to your first dinner.

Well, you are now on your own....

    Bon Voyage......

  10. I always thought that the shore excursions got priority to be taken to shore with a tender and than other passenger were free to transit on the tenders.
