  1. Not sure but I think what we are looking at on the right side of the picture is the vessel that retrieves launches. Roy
  2. Oops, I goofed. This was actually 2011. Roy
  3. I took the liberty of setting up a sailaway thread for the Nieuw Statendam, supposedly at 6PM. If anyone knows of any updates to the 6PM departure, please post. Roy
  4. Today the Nieuw Statendam is making a rare appearance in Port Canaveral arriving about 7 and slated to leave at 6PM: Unlike Port Everglades, Port Canaveral does not have a "live" schedule but there are a number of CC regulars on the ship so with luck we may get an update if the schedule is changed. The webcam website is here: https://www.portcanaveralwebcam.com/ Roy
  5. Today's sunrise is from my 2012 Crystal Symphony voyage from Montreal to New York which was paired with the Blount passage trough the Erie Canal. On October 21 we visited Bar Harbor: Roy

  7. Bon Voyage, although I know you will miss all the great enrichment you would have gotten on Crystal. Roy
  8. Thank you for the Friday report, Rich, and welcome to Port Canaveral (looks like you're on final approach). I'll pass on the Nachos, try not to babble too much, and don't really count buttons. The quote strikes me as true. I think I've been to today's port but not sure. No idea what the meal is. My alternative is Chilled Apricot Soup, Japanese Chicken Yakitori, and Blueberry Crisp, as served on MS Amsterdam October 21, 2017: Today’s care list: RIP kochleffel’s friend Fran 10/16/22 RIP StLouisCruiser friend Beverly 10/18/22 HAL4NOW testing positive on Koningsdam Cruisin single’s step son with double cancer Vict0rian’s cousin in final stages of ALS Luvteaching DH recovering from fall and facing dimentia Marshhawk’s friend Sheri Quaartzite Cruiser DH with post surgery complications From the rotation: Cruising-along niece awaiting a kidney HAL Sailer Sister in Law with aggressive cancer therapy Marshhawk’s friend Jesse with throat cancer Status of St. Louis Sal (7/1) and JAM37 (7/7) Celebrations and Shoutouts: Birthday week with sister for Seasick Sailor Birthday week for SusieKIslandGirl Aliaschief off for a river cruise New apartment for Cruzin Terri DD and DSIL helping Quartzite Cruiser Another great golf score for Mister67 3 days for Oceansaway17 (Equinox 10/24 to 11/3) 2 Days for Cruisin Single (American Star 10/23 to 10/30) Cruising-Along(11/5), dfish, NextOne, Richwmn, Live4cruises, SharoninAz (Nieuw Statendam to 10/22), MissG (Oosterdam to 10/22), HAL4NOW (Koningsdam to 10/24), and AncientWanderer (Nieuw Amsterdam to 10/25), Dismomx5 (Rotterdam to 10/27) , and Av8rix (Rotterdam to 10/30) Cunnorl (Noordam to 1/2/23), and Horizon Chaser1957 (Zaandam 10/1 to 12/20; Zuiderdam 12/22 to 5/12) at sea Roy
  9. I only sailed QE2 once; it was her final transatlantic in tandem with QM2 as the torch was passed to the newer ship. I only saw one sunrise, it was October 20, 2008: Roy

  12. Thank you for the Thursday report, Rich. Three great culinary days to celebrate, today. If I were Marx, I think I would rather have a good friend than a best friend. Rich, I believe Rotterdam is actually going to Manhattan rather than Cape Liberty. There's a Celebrity ship at Liberty that day and the New York terminal guide shows Rotterdam in Manhattan rather than Brooklyn, I've never been to Taiwan (scheduled there on Amsterdam in 2017 but cancelled for political reasons) and I have no idea what the meal is. My alternative is Fruit Cup au Naturel, the turf from Surf and Turf, and Cherry Crumble Tart, as served on MS Amsterdam October 20, 2017. 15. Thank you for the Hump Day Fleet Report and Daily, Rich. Every day should be Evaluate Your Life Day. Hopefully, we should love our bodies enough to take care of them. Rain forests are a vital but disappearing resource. The Gatsby quote sounds very dark. I think most of us have been to Puerto Vallarta. I think I'll pass on the meal. My alternative is Lingonberry Soup, Macadamia Crusted Chicken, and Apple Buckle, as served on MS Amsterdam October 19, 2017. 16. All I know is people on the Koningsdam were told she was no longer with the company. I would not expect them to give out any additional details. Roy
  17. A little background here. The Koningsdam is actually a combination of 2 short cruises which cannot be booked independently, but only in conjunction with a land tour that leaves the ship in Skagway and then continues overland to Denali and Anchorage. The 3-day segment to Skagway does not offer any glacier viewing form the ship, so a small boat meets the ship at the entrance to Tracy Arm and the small boat goes deep into the glaciers, getting far closer than a large ship can, and them meets the ship about dinner time in Juneau. It's a fabulous way to REALLY see the glaciers. https://morethangetaways.wordpress.com/2018/07/21/day-y4c-3-part-1-friday-july-20-entering-tracy-arm/ https://morethangetaways.wordpress.com/2018/07/22/day-y4c-3-part-2-friday-july-20-south-sawyer-glacier/ Roy
