Thank you Diamond Suite Cruiser! I knew there was something.
You are welcome! I restaurant next to the Windjammer maybe Chops and not Giovanni's, but either way they serve breakfast for suite gold cards.
-
Anyone have recent experience of the dining options for suite guests on the Explorer?
Is there access to one of the speciality restaurants? I see lunch has been dropped on some/one of the ships in favour of a reserved area in the Windjammer....
I believe Giovanni's serves breakfast in the mornings to Pinnacle and Suite guest, and at lunch you can always go to the Windjammer and get your food and sit in Giovanni's. The Concierge club usually has a continental breakfast as well, besides room service.

i am not a one cruise wonder and sail exclusively in suites. And ftr when anyone starts in with the "i have x many days at sea" nonsense my husband can look them in the eye and say he has more than that in the last 6 months alone. I am sick and tired of being looked down on by diamonds and diamond pluses who thinks that just because they have sailed more often( but decidedly not necessarily having spent more money) that their fecal matter does not produce an odor and those of us in suites are infringing upon territory that was never theirs they just co opted because they felt special.
like!

We prefer the company usually found in the DL to that of the CL. Prefer to spend time with seasoned cruisers and exchange tales and experiences as opposed to sitting listening to one cruise wonders(Suites) for the most part.
The Duchess and I will be traveling POSH though, Port out Starboard home.
Ok so we as suite people are one time wonders? I am Diamond plus on Royal and one cruise away from Elite plus on Celebrity, I am a well seasoned cruiser and am not a one time wonder, thank you very much. But I really could careless about free drinks in either of the lounges.

Sadly no discount for June 3rd Explorer.:(

We are sailing on the Oasis in February 2017 from Port Canaveral....very excited! It's a newer, nicer port than its current berth and shorter drive for those of us from Central Florida and north.
We too are on On her next Feb and very happy to have her at PC.

As we have always sailed in L1 Crown Lofts, we are completely aware of the layout of the Crown Lofts,
We are now considering booking one of the following L2 Crown Lofts on the Oasis. Numbers 1724, 1728,1730 or 1732.
Which cabin would you choose? Is the balcony for cabin 1724 too small?
Thank you
I believe 1732 and 1730 have somewhat larger balcony's. We stayed in 1732 and loved it, you get great views of the boardwalk, aqua theater, water, zip line, flow riders, mini golf, basket ball courts. With the doors closed we never had an issue with any noise from all the activities below. Here are some views from 1732. https://flic.kr/s/aHsjVwhCEZ
Enjoy your cruise!

I'm pretty sure Princess (and maybe HAL) sell bottles of liquor for onboard consumption. You would probably have a better Alaska itinerary too.
You can also purchase bar set up in your room on Celebrity. I wish Royal would offer it as well.

Thank you - I see it now. The deck plans change after they implement Suite Class. But for Allure they say the plans change starting June 5, and when you call customer service, they say it starts in May. So I guess there is still no way to know for sure. (I'm sailing in May).
The booklet I got in the mail on the new Royal class states "Launching May 2016," so please report back and enjoy!

If you look at the new Suite Class information, a Royal Suite on Oasis class is not listed under any of the 3 levels, Star, Sky or Sea.
I'm not talking about the Royal Loft or Royal Family - the regular Royal Suite Deck 17, cabins 01 or 58. I just called Royal D+ desk and they said it was like a Royal Family so it would be a Sky class. They sounded like they were guessing.
Anyone out there with knowledge? Price difference would only approach being worth it if it also got to Star Class.
Thanks, and yes, First World issues :)
They change the names 01 is a Owners loft suite and 58 is a Grand Loft suite, even though they are not lofts at all. I booked the GLS for our next Oasis cruise, and I hope it is as nice as I've heard . The OLS is a little larger that the GLS, but the GLS was only avail for the cruise that we wanted and it is 914 sf.

We take a dual-powered battery/AC fan, an older model of this one:
http://www.amazon.com/O2COOL-NEW-Battery-Operated-Adapter/dp/B00ATSHMIQ/
on all cruises, including those out of Europe. No problem except once, when it went to the naughty room, but they had no problem once my wife showed them it ran on batteries. I would guess getting an electric only fan might be hit or miss depending on the mood of whomever catches it that day.
We also use this fan and had no issues on Celebrity a few months ago out of Italy, it is also dual voltage and worked great in our hotel in Rome. It was late Oct and the hotel had no a/c (winter months) and it was still very hot, we used it every night and slept with our balcony door open (life saver). You will just need an adapter for the plug.

We are also on this Cruise. First time to Alaska and very excited !
We are also on this sailing, welcome aboard and checkout the link to the Explorer. This gives her stats and has some great info.

Also, come join in on our roll call, it is kind of slow right now, but hopefully it will pick up soon.

It's pretty simple, lobsters that were not cooked the night before were cooked the next day to make a dish for the WJ.
No really? I was just making a joke about the statement of leftovers, but thanks for spelling it out! IMHO the so called lobsters in the main dinning room are terrible, I wouldn't eat them the day of or the day after.
-
ONCE. On the Navigator. It was the day after "lobster night", so I assumed that they were leftovers. :)
:( Not sure what that tasted like. I'm not a fan of leftover fish or seafood.

I am a Diamond level member with many sailings on Royal Caribbean and had a most disturbing experience on our last sailing, Vision of the Seas. We were given a marketing piece about booking our next cruise while onboard that offered cruise credit on THIS cruise AND the future cruise for booking while onboard. “Get up to $500 INSTANT Credit on your SeaPass to spend now! Plus, get an additional $300 Onboard Credit on your booked suite!”, signed by the Cruise Sales Manager.
It was such a good deal we decided to act on it, and booked a future cruise. After a couple days the $300 cruise credit we had been promised showed up on our folio. It was on the "final " folio when we debarked. But when our charges came through we had not only the "final" folio charge but also a $300 charge, plus a few bucks for what turned out to be a late minibar charge.
RCCL is claiming there is no valid offer of both sailings cruise credits (despite the written marketing piece that says otherwise). I kept a copy of the offer (attached), and am now glad I did. RCCL is claiming the people on ship made a mistake, that it's an isolated incident, and not happening to others.
Has anyone else had a shipboard credit wiped out after leaving the ship, and then charged to them?
Since they said it was not a valid offer and that it is an isolated incident, but you have the flyer, did they say they would honor it? If not I would ask to speak to a supervisor and tell him or her to cancel the future cruise due to the bate and switch and the dishonest advertising.

We are getting ready to book the Radiance for next summer when the Alaska bookings open up. Does anyone have a preference over northbound or southbound and any particular reason considering the ports are the same?
We did the southbound, because of the flight differences for us (availability and pricing). Flew into Anchorage and stayed a few days and toured around, then took the train into Seward which was really nice and loved the scenery, only down side was we had to take a VERY early train.
Either way you will love Alaska!

I am not sure as I didn't us e it but I saw it there and it looked like the ones where you put the sachet of coffee into a little draw at the top and the water would then drip through it to fill your cup with the coffee. They seem to be common in the US hotels.
Very nice, thank you!

Along with the kettle, there was also a coffee maker in the suites.:D
What kind of coffee maker, or is it a French press?

Is it me, or does anyone else think they could have come up with a better title than Royal Genie? It makes me think of Aladdin.
Same here, Genie? Maybe Royal assistant, Royal Butler. Not fond of Genie, this isn't Disney after all.

Thanks for posting. Here's hoping they offer this on the Explorer for my Alaska cruise.;)

Here are pictures of the Oasis CLS #1732, we really enjoyed the 17th floor, the suite was nice, but the room steward we had was not the best. Loved the MBR shower it was really nice. Also nice to have a bathroom down stairs. Didn't really care for the makeup vanity being in the corner by the closet, to dark for putting on make up.
We really prefer OS or RS but they were all taken. Enjoy your cruise and your suite.

If you get invited, make sure you have closed toe shoes. They weren't allowing sandals.

I will never go in Sept again, it was rainy at times and Very foggy. Cruise ships foghorn was going off all night long, we couldn't go near the glacier because of the fog. Our fly fishing trip cancelled because of "to much rain and the river was to high". We still had a great time, but you may miss some things because of it. I'd go in May if that is your only other choice, but do go, Alaska is beautiful!

Y would you leave a tip? Its included upfront. How much are you really expected to pay for a drink and tip? That sounds crazy to me.
I feel the same, you already paid 18% gratuities for the drink package, why tip again per drink. I will only tip at the end of the cruise to my favorite and best bartenders that took extra good care of me.
Rain and Luggage

We also use Scotchguard and spray our luggage. If the forecast is for rain my DH uses large garbage bags and put his clothes in the bags inside the suite case. Works great, never had an issue.
