  1. I too am just off this particular cruise and I found the ship to be in good condition. No complaints whatsoever. Capt. Kate and her officers were highly visible and interactive with the passengers. Can't imagine this criticism being leveled at the officers. Of special note, Capt Kate is still taking the ship up to the Statue of Liberty and lower Manhattan before circling back down the bridge. Great experience.

Thank you! There was another thread from this same cruise, and this was their opinion. I can't wait to be back on the Summit again next month, unfortunately Captain Kate is on vacation, so we won't have the pleasure of meeting her :(, I hear she is wonderful.

  2. We found the Oceanview Cafe to be fine for breakfast. The omelets were made to order and there was a very good sweet bread on most mornings. We never had a problem finding a seat in the morning. Since most days were port days, there was no wait for tables at lunch time. We never ate dinner there. On July 4, Qsine had a two for one offer. We didn't get the phone message until we returned to our room in the late afternoon and wanted to be on deck for the fireworks. Honestly, although we had onboard credit, I think $90 is too much for two people at a specialty restaurant.

I did not notice officers acting aloof. They came to the Meet and Greet and answered questions. They also participated in game shows, archery, poker tournaments, etc. We were not looking for or expecting any greater interaction.

As for the condition of the ship, we were in a balcony cabin, Room 7172. The shower was clean and had hot water. One cabinet door in the bathroom did not close properly but the other cabinets and drawers in our cabin were not marred. There were stains on some dining room chairs but other than that, nothing stood out as being in disrepair.

Thank you for your review, and answering my questions. Looking forward to our Bermuda cruise next month!

  3. I don't think I have received the E Docs!! Do you know when they come through?

    What do they contain?

    Thank you

I'm in the US, and I'm not sure how it works over there in the UK, but our cruise is in August (about 55 days out) and we have not been issued our eDoc yet. Usually I get an email telling me my eDocs are ready, then when I go on to the celebrity website I can see a link to request luggage tags. In the past I have always gotten the eDocs around 45 days out. But again, I'm not sure if that is the same procedure in the UK, so I'm not sure I was of any assistance.

  4. Thank you much Lucie Renee!! This was very helpful, and I love the way you had the links by days, your way was very neat and easy to follow (GREAT JOB)!

Hope you had a wonderful cruise, is there anything you would recommend in the way of must see while in Bermuda?

  5. For me after several attempts to sign on I see instead of welcome Regina, It shows welcome false?? Then it will not allow me to click on my reservations, if I do it comes up with this reservation is locked to protect your security, try again in about 20 mins. It also keeps trying to add a balance for gratuities to my already paid cruise, even thought we have the best plan with all four perks.

  6. Ooh that is new. I have used my approach to find out what the current OBC offering is, and having checked it out right now it seems to work fine. (The OBC exchange rate is another matter altogether and I won't be buy that for the moment)! However, I am searching from the UK so may be that make the difference.

Thanks, maybe it is just me and IE, I will try safari later. Thanks for trying to help me! :D I may have to just call the phone number listed. I just love it when things glitch, much like this web site and having to constantly sign in. Thank you, and Have a great day!

  7. Try searching for 'Gifts by Celebrity' and Google seems to find it. It is a nuisance to have to search for it this way, but it is there via the old site which is still out there.

Thanks Kitekat, but that takes me to the same thing, not list no pricing just the 1-800 number. I also tried using the old site and I get:

"Please be patient with us as we improve your web experience. We’ll be back shortly.

    Celebrity Cruises

To book or get information please call us at 1-877-812-4739"

  8. I was just searching on the new redesigned Celebrity crappy web site (IMHO), and when you go to Gift by Celebrity it just gives you a phone number. What happened to the list of items to choose from, and the pricing? Are they telling us we just have to bother the person on the phone to read off what is available? I can't even find it when signed in under my next cruise, under the Cruise Planner. Does anyone out there know what is now available and where to find the list or form?

  9. I emailed Cruise Critics at help@cruisecritic.com earlier this week and their reply was in part:

"We haven't had other reports of this, so it might just be something with your computer.

What you describe is often the result of an issue with cookie settings in your browser's security set up."

I haven't made any changes to my computer or cookie settings and I remember this happening a while ago when they were designing the new system.

If you are having problems I suggest you contact CC.

That if funny, because it happens to me a couple times a day, and it makes no difference if I'm on my IPad/safari or my laptop/I.E. I get it. I also have signed in to post to my roll call and when I hit submit reply and it wants me to sign in again, once it even lost my post altogether. Very Frustrating!:confused::o:loudcry:

  10. That day could be change over day. Captain Kate took over on March 19 according to a passenger on board at the time. Rotation of master of the vessel is normally 12 weeks.

Darn we will miss her by maybe a week, we sail August 27th. We've been on the Summit before but before Capt. Kate.

  11. I have done both RCL Star Class and Celebrity Suites.

Star Class does have some nice features, particularly with embarkation and disembarkation as described above. The Genie will also help you plan onboard activities, but the benefit of this is up to the individual and is nothing the shoreside or Michaels Club concierges can't do.

Where Celebrity excels is the personal service of the Butler. They are there to serve you and are at your beck and call, whereas the Genies are mostly a single point of contact between the guest and the service staff. I was very underwhelmed with our Genie. We didn't see him much once boarded and done with the initial meeting. When we did want to contact him we had trouble doing so.

In my opinion, Celebrity wins hands down. If Celebrity picked up the embarkation and disembarkation process from Star Class, they would have the perfect cruise travel experience.

Wow, what ship and who was your genie? We sailed the Oasis and had Israel, he was fantastic! He use to be the suite lounge concierge before being promoted, he catered to us and even bought my DH a retirement gift, a bottle of Crown, a happy retirement mug, and a book on how to enjoy your retirement. So thoughtful!! Also he didn't just reserve our seats at all shows, he had a sign on them with our names and room numbers and waited until we showed up. The best experience we've had in over 25 cruises, and we thought we out grew RCCL. Sorry your Genie wasn't as good!

  12. Was just on RC with their new star class butler service sand would like to something compatible on celebrity with their butler service. Has anybody done this? What ships have it and what are the xtra perks? Thanks

My opinion the Star class genies were better. The butlers won't sit down with you and explain what he does. He will make dinner reservations for you, but he will not show you a seating chart from the theater, and let you chose your seats for each show, and reserve those seats for you each night, but on chic nights they will meet you in the theater and escort you to the suite seating area (not the best seats). If staying in a royal suite or penthouse suite you get two bottles of alcohol unlike star class, but you do get beer, soda, waters stocked daily in your room. You get a premium drink package and unlimited specialty dinning (RS & PH only), you do not get unlimited free movies in your suite like the star class, nor a cocktail carting in the afternoon to make you special martinis in your suite. They do not check in on you in the specialty dinning to make sure everything is perfect. We have been escorted on the ship and given a rose, but our suite was never ready when we board like star class that was amazing to be able to go to your room right away andun pack. Oh and they do now bring your luggage onboard. You still have to put your luggage out the last night like everyone else, where star classyou keep your luggage and put it out an hour before you get off the ship and hold it in a special area. The butler will not escort you off the ship to your luggage and to customs. But all that said, you get almost the same service in all suites which you do not get anything but the concierge if you are in a grand suite or above on Royal Caribbean.

  13. We left Buenos Aires on 12/5/17. I, and many other passengers got an upper respiratory infection by the next wee. It is April 25 and I am still having problems. Been on antibiotics, prednisone, and other over the counter stuff. Still coughing. Does anyone have answers?? What is this? I would appreciate any help.

What ship were you on? We maybe able to direct you to the roll call from that sailing, and you maybe able to find others that sailed with you with similar issues. It could very well be a wide spread thing for that ship and sailing. Sorry you have suffered with it this long, but I would seek another Doctor. I hope you get well very soon!

  14. Upon looking at Luminae menus on-line, I saw prices for coffee and wine. Really? You have to pay for coffee? We have the premium drinks package so may I assume we do NOT have to pay for either coffee or wine at Luminae?

I know it is a little different than RC Coastal Kitchen, but as others have said, wine up to 13.00 is included in the drink package anything over, you'd pay the difference. Specialty coffees should be ok with your premium beverage package. Enjoy & I hope you like Celebrity. It is a bit different than RC, but a lot of things are better IMHO, except if you are use to star class, that is top notch on RC, and doesn't come close to Celebrity even when staying in the PH.

  15. We got up there approx. 45 minutes prior to the event, and they were showing The 100 Foot Journey. Not as Taste of Film; just showing the movie.

My only complaint was the lack of restrooms up on the top deck. It was quite a walk, two decks down, to use the rest room. If they are going to utilize that deck as a venue, they need to find a spot to add restrooms. This was on the Summit

I totally agree with you, there is no point in adding something like that if they don't have restroom facilities. Maybe next dry dock
