  1. OMG.,cannot believe you asked this,... what a hassle we just had last week on Infinity over this issue.

As usual, we booked Tuscan and Q sine online, pre cruise, pre paid.2 meals @ $90.0 on our credit card,

As usual, when we went to Tuscan, upon arrival, we explained to the maitre d that we pre paid, and asked for the 15 % discount to be credited to our on board acct, Have done thus numerous times..easy breezy simple! Not so this time.

Maitre D argued quite forcefully that the discount only applied to 1st night.,and he was not aware of any E plus discount,,,did we have any proof.? So I showed him the letter from Cap Club hostess that showed the perk in black and white,, Apparently this was not enough..he took my paper, he spent all of our dinner visit on the phone researching this & ignoring us. We re-approached him before end of the meal,,,said he' have to discuss it with the waiter.

The bill arrived,,,with credit for 15% seemingly for just 1 dinner. It did not seem right but we just signed and left, After several visits to guest rel, we were told that because we re purchased the dinner while docked in San Francisco, a local tax applied which wiped out the rest of our credit,

We were never told of this while at Tuscan and never saw any notices about this local tax...

Our very helpful, patient guest rel agent eventually decided to give us the credit anyhow,, It was kind of a silly fiasco.... Yes, the meal and service were very good, not great & not worth the discounted price and plus cash tip to our waiter.

We also cancelled Q sine for sure ( took 2 days to see that credit) did not sign up for the Tuscan lunch and would not book Specialty Dining again...too much of a hassle!

    Good luck....

OMG what a stressful dinner. I would have been so upset I would not have been able to even enjoy our meal.

I will not pre book! I know on RCCL we pre-booked dinners even though we were in Star class on the Oasis, and they just credited us back in the way of OBC. So weird how the same company, but different lines can’t have the same policies. Sorry you had to deal with that! 😞

  2. They may not already be booked, but just being held in case somebody in a suite should want them.

Usually, whenever we went to a restaurant to make a reservation, we noticed that the first thing they asked for was our room number.

One day when we stopped by a restaurant to ask if we could make a reservation for 6:30 that night, it was the only time we were not first asked for our room number, but instead were immediately told that the earliest opening they had for that night was 8:45.

Later in the day we were in Michael's Club and happened to be chatting with the concierge, so we asked her if she could get us a reservation for 6:30 that night. She picked up the telephone, and immediately got us the 6:30 reservation.

By the way, when we got to the restaurant at 6:30, it was practically empty. They gave us a window table, and there were people at only a few of the other tables.

If we had not been in a suite on that particular cruise, or if we had asked the concierge to make the reservation for us initially, we probably would still not be aware that they hold back tables for suite passengers and would just assume that the specialty restaurants always fill up very quickly.

(Guess I should mention that it was in the middle of the cruise, not the first night of the cruise, when they are eager to get people to eat in the specialty restaurants and usually give discounts to everyone.)

Good to know, we always book suites, but are really low profile, and don’t hardly go to Michael’s Club nor do we ask the Concierge for much, even when we booked PH suites. We are now both retired and downsizing a bit to the mid to lower suites, so I like the idea of trying to get a reduced price in SD, and an half way decent time slot. Thank you!

  3. I think you'll find that most elites pluses and elites realize from experience that you will most likely be offered 25-33% off the specialty restaurant prices on board. We never book them in advance and pretty much only go if we can negotiate $35 or less for Murano and a BOGO for the rest. We don't really care if we cruise without dining at any specialty restaurant but if we get the deal we want, we'll book it.

Wow, I am so bad about trying to chew people down in price, but I will give it a shot and see what happens. $35.00 for Murano, WOW what a deal! Either way we have Luminae as our dinning, and they are great! I just thought 11 nights we might want something different. Thank you, much appreciated!!

  4. Thanks Kelmac, CruisingChick, kenevenpar, Constance331, and Orator! It Looks unanimous so we will wait until we board to book and try and get a better deal. LOL I love the way you put it Constance331, the Staff will go that high to make "the sale", "particularly if you show a "je m'en fiche"* attitude.clear.png?emoji-wink-1685" LOL!

    Thanks everyone!

  5. We just recently made Elite plus last month, after our cruise on the Summit. We have another cruise in Dec, and I see that we get a 15% discount on specialty dinning, but when I go on the web site (we all know how well that works) It only gives me the regular pricing. My question is how do you get your discount?

    1. Book it and ask for a credit once on the ship?

2 Does it take it off at check out?

    3. Do you wait to book it once on the ship?

    Thanks in advance!

  6. We requested one from the MC Conciege on embarkation day, just a few weeks ago, only because our entire cruise on the Summit they were charging us for grats. and some other things daily, when we had the go best package. That cruise they screwed up our account A LOT! In the end We had a credit of a little over 200.00 which they credited back to my credit card. Watch your purchases daily on the tv.

  7. Presently on the Eclipse being totally pampered by the quality of food offered in both the speciality restaurants and Luminae and the service level is impeccable ....we were on the Allure in January and were unimpressed....We tried all the speciality restaurants and Coastal and if I am honest we didn't have one memorable meal...

Luminae and Michael's vs Coastal Kitchen and suite lounge just no comparison....

Please don't get me wrong, the RC product has lots to offer including great entertainment but in terms of food and suite lounge Celebrity is a mile ahead...

I agree Luminae and MC is much better than the Oasis CK and suite lounge.

But unlimited in room movies, the Genie letting you select your theater seating and other shows was wonderful, having your luggage delivered to as soon as you check in, not having to put your luggage out the last night was a big plus, it goes off the ship about an hour before you do (Priceless). Also on the Oasis our Genie provided a bottle of Canadian Club for my DH so he could have a drink in the suite. We usually stay in PH suites on Celebrity, but we felt that the Star class service on the Oasis and our Genie was far better.

  8. CABIN #: 7138

    DECK #: 7

    CLASS: CS/Summit - M class ship

    AREA: mid ship

    BED NEAR:

    QUIET?: yes

    BALCONY VIEW: unobstructed

    BALCONY SIZE: long but narrow

    WIND A PROBLEM?: no

    SOOT A PROBLEM?: no

PROBLEMS/COMMENTS: furniture is extremely old, sofa to low to the ground (appears they took the legs off for some reason), shower/tub combo very high to get in and out of safely, and no grab rails to hold on to.

  9. Though I expect that today's problem might well relate to weekend systems maintenance, I should have added to my earlier response that it sometimes helps to try a different web browser... Celebrity's systems--which as often mentioned here leave much to be desired--sometimes seem to interact better with some than with others...

Within the past few days and using Google Chrome, I checked in/printed my Xpress Pass for an upcoming trip without difficulty...

I had no problem checking in and printing our express pass yesterday using Firefox.

  10. Thanks for the review Marleycruiser and Arno. We will be back on the Summit 27 AUG and I can't wait. This is our first time to Bermuda, but second time on the Summit and second time sailing out of Bayonne. We are also in a suite and happy to here that you loved the experience of Luminae and Michael's Club. Now I'm even more anxious ;-)

  11. Points accrue and, if appropriate, status changes occur following completion of a cruise [generally within ten days or so following disembarkation]... One will be provided with the benefits associated with any new membership tier on the cruise following the one during which a status change occurs...

Exactly we only need like 64 points for Elite Plus but on our next cruise we we acquire 84 pts. But we will not see Elite Plus until after this next cruise is complete. That is fine with us since we have many more cruises planned. ;)

  12. Just wondering, does Celebrity have souvenir soda cups like RCI does? My wife usually gets the soda package when on RCI, and we like the cups that come with it as a souvineer.

This upcoming cruise on the Equinox, we both have the classic drink package, so I'm wondering if we will get a cup included with that? If not, is there one to purchase as a souvenir?

    Thanks,

    Dan

They may have souvenir cups/glasses for sale in one of the shops on the ship, if you are looking to purchase one as a souvenir. If you are just looking for an insulated cup to drink out of while on the ship, I would bring one from home, much cheaper.

  13. Thanks everyone. It is on the Infinity and the FV cabin we have is aft and right on the corner. A wrap around view almost!! We had already bought the 4 perks for a fairly decent price earlier on this year. That being said, it is just the two of us, and we have never been in a suite before. Is the CS that much bigger than the FV? What are the additional perks for a CS?

Your FV is 270 sf balcony 112- 191 the CS is 467 sf and balcony only 85sf. The perks right now are 300.00 OBC, free grats; free internet, free premium drink package. You get Michaels club privileges, Luminae suite dinning, a butler. You will love the suite (sweet) life;).

  14. Just few moment ago tried to register for 2 Cruises B2B and web site sends a message in red letters can not retrieve the reservation

I also get the same thing. I was able to sign up a few weeks ago for one of my reservations, but I can't for the one in Dec.

  15. The luggage thing sounds much like star class on RCCL larger ships. That was wonderful they took our luggage straight to our room, our room was ready as soon as we boarded, the Genie escorted us on the ship straight to our room. The last night you do not put your luggage like everyone else, the morning of departure you go to breakfast and let your Genie know and he has your luggage taken down to a special area. After breakfast you let the Genie know when you are ready to go, and he comes and escorts you off the ship to our luggage, where the baggage carrier is waiting to take your luggage to your car or taxi. I hope it will be a lot like that. That was the Best experience we've ever had on RCCL! Very detailed and personal.

  16. She can buy a cheap over the door shoe organizer with the pockets and store her toiletries in there. I would get the clear plastic one so she can see through it, makes it easier. Google cruise ship organization, lots of ideas pop up.

  17. My experience with both lines, RCCL always gives me cash back at the end of the cruise if I don't use it all. I've had on one time on a Celebrity cruise that they would not give it back in cash, but applied it to my credit card as a credit, even though I had a zero balance. One ship gave me back in cash. I don't think Celebrity likes to give it back to you in cash if not spent, so be prepared. Either way you get it back.

  18. We sailed in the PH on the Summit last year after the remodel and all they really did was replace the fixtures in the bathrooms, new deck boards on the balcony, new seating on the balcony, which to me was the biggest improvement, but really nothing else that made a noticeable difference. The furniture was not changed, so if you sailed in it prior to the dry dock it looks the same as far as the furnishings are concerned.

The butlers pantry is still intact, full size fridge and microwave.

We are actually sailing in it again on the 23rd, really looking forward to it!

Glad the butlers pantry is still intact, Now the deck needed some attention for sure. The master bath was beautiful, but the Jacuzzi and TV needed replacing. Also the Vanity area could have been a bit brighter. The furniture was okay. Beautiful suite I like the M Class much better than the S Class except the S Class has a Huge master bath that I adored, I wish my MB was that large. Enjoy your cruise! We will be on her again the 27th of Aug.

  19. does anyone know if a DVD player is provided?

As one poster suggested request one, but all the PH suites we've sailed in all had DVD players and surround sound systems (be careful not to disturb your neighbors with the surround system, it can get very loud). I did not notice it was turned up all the way up when I put in a DVD, and I scared myself :') ! You will love the suite two full bathrooms, and the full size fridge with ice maker in the butlers pantry along with a microwave and wine fridge. S Class doesn't have the microwave and fridge, just a wine cooler. Post pictures if you can when you get back, would love to see how it looks now after the remodel, hopefully it still has the butlers pantry. Enjoy!!
