  1. Our family is sailing Emerald Princess over Thanksgiving. I checked on the website but it didn't provide much info.:( Does it include specialty coffees (similar to Starbucks Frappacinos?) I think I read in one of the threads you also receive a cup? What's the cost?

    Thank you!:)

P.S. I'm embarrassed now. I just saw another link which provided the info.:o

  2. Hi!

DH and I have sailed twice from Galveston, and will be sailing the Emerald Princess in January.

Situation is, we drove both times (to Galveston, from Dallas.) This time, we're going to fly.

What airport would you recommend, Hobby or Bush Intercontinental? Also looking for recommendations for transportation to the port.

    Thank you!:)

  3. we're booked on the Emerald , Jan. 11th out of Houston , not to worried about weather , anything will be better then our New England winters :D , and have an aft cabin with a MASSIVE balcony , don't even care about ports of call as long as someone else is making the bed & cooking supper :D

Looks like we will book her for Jan 18

  4. We are looking into doing the Emerald Princess out of the port of Houston in Jan.2015 this will be our first Princess cruise. What are some of the "must do, do not miss" things on the Emerald Princess? Also how is the night life?

We are in our early 50' s and have done 12 DCL,9 CCL and 2 RCCL so we are not new to cruising.

Any other info would be greatly appreciated.

  5. DH, DD and I are sailing our first Princess cruise in March. I'm very happy to learn this as I only drink one or two drinks, and not even every night. DH however, sometimes enjoys a bloody Mary before dinner, and definitely beer while in the casino.:p

We will definitely keep it honest though. (I'm the type who fears getting a flat tire on the way home, if we cheat in any way.) We're also taking our own Dr Pepper onboard.

  6. Yes! My nephew traveled with us on the Ruby three years ago and went to the 18-20 yo meet and greet. He met a lovely young lady and they were married last December! He is very glad he attended the M & G! He returned from the get-together and told his parents he had just met his future wife!

    That's WONDERFUL!:)

  7. Most cruises we have been on had a scheduled get together for this age group the first night of the cruise.

Last Caribbean cruise had a 10:30 pm get together for 18-20s in Skywalkers Nightclub on the first evening and another the next evening at 10:45 pm.

They can participate in most activities listed as adults only and Princess even lists in the Patter : adult (18 and older) for things like DJ Dance Parties or Princess Pop Star Contest. Drinking age is 21 and they card my now young adult children regularly all over the ship, including the dinning rooms.

My "kids" used to like the fact that Princess had an older crowd. There was always room for them in water volleyball and all the other physical things they were interested in. Glass half full attitude! ;)

I never worried about scheduled activities for them at that age. Seemed like they preferred just hanging out at the pool.

    Thank you!

My husband and I (when we sail) will be 57 and 53. Come to think of it, we ARE probably the older crowd.:p

Sounds as if this will be just great! We're thrilled that Princess will be sailing out of Houston, as we can drive, and not have to spend a fortune in airfare. We're looking very forward to it. :)

  8. We have never cruised with Princess ( 12 Disney,10 Carnival & 2 RCCL) and are looking into doing the Emerald out of Houston spring break 2015 with our 20 yo and 18 yo daughters. We have some friends who like to cruise Princess but have told us that it is primarily an "older" crowd that cruises Princess. I would like to hear some others feedback. Will there be enough for our daughters to do? is there an 18-20 yo meet and greet?

  9. Nightlife know where to look??? Man I looked everywhere walked that ship up and down front to back and there was no type of Nightlife. This one part of the ship they had a nice seating area and someone singing with a guy playing the guitar and there was nobody there. She was singing to an empty room. The DJ in the club was up on stage DJing to herself because there was nobody in there. Piano bar empty every night , The place you found more people was at a Pub and that was a total of maybe 8 people. Trust me I looked everywhere and there was no nightlife. Like I stated before that was my only complaint with DCL... Again could have just been that Ship I was on.. I am not saying that all DCL cruises will be the same but that was my experience and Carnival is just the opposite.. I am also a young guy and maybe not everyone that goes on a DCL cruise is looking to party until 5am. But I Love Carnival and will I cruise on Disney again, Absolutely! But it will only be with kids for there entertainment. and Living in Florida helps because we get a great Florida Resident rate.

As a die-hard Disney cruiser, I have agree with this.

My DH works an evening shift (arrives home every night at 11:30ish.) He's used to going to bed about 130a. I'm able to fall asleep very soon when we're back in our room at midnight. However, there's not much for him to do before he's tired enough to sleep. We've asked on the comment card to have at least one bar/club open until 2a.

  10. We are sailing on the Carnival Liberty out of Canaveral in December and Costa Maya is one of the ports-it looks like they alternate between there and Grand Cayman.

Cruises out of Miami, Canaveral, Ft. Lauderdale and Tampa should include that as a stop, but not all the time.

Liberty is moving to Canaveral the end of the year-what month were you thinking about?

Not sure which month yet, but this gives me ideas. It might be March of 2015, but this has been a big help with the departure ports and months. Thank you! :)

  11. They were originally suppose to expire on 2/1/14 but there was a post about a month ago that the date was extended until 2/1/18 I think. I know there was a link to over on the Carnival Forums stating the correct date.

I think you have some time to use them. Hopefully you are cruising soon.

We are not cruising till July 2014 :( still looking for an answer..I guess that I will call Carnival tomorrow.
