  1. That was my one flaw with Allure. If I didn't have a balcony cabin, I would've been disappointed. On a cruise ship, you shouldn't have to work so hard to see the water.

What I really like about my current Jewel cruise you can see the sea everywhere. You can't on Oasis, freedom or voyager class.

Does not really fit with original posters request but you can get some fantastic sea views from some of the Boardwalk cabins on Allure

  2. See my post #66.

RCI is NOT charging full price for the infant!

The actual discount fare is only 1/3.

    The OP is mistaken.

    CB

Have we checked what the price is for 3 adults in the room? I don't think RCL really discount for kids just extra people in cabin.

Surrounding pricing it is a companies perogative what they charge and they usually do give good discounts for extra berths. If people don't like the price go elsewhere.

Also I don't think taking a 9 month old on a cruise is a great choice for vacation.

  3. Don't think any further cruises go to Grenada this year BUT if the are be careful about booking the Ultimate Sea, Sun & Fun cruise it is not delivered as advertised. We received only about half of the advertised tour. Perhaps the worse value for money tour I have been on.

Big pity as the 3 earlier tours in the cruise have been outstanding.

  4. Check out the surprise at the top of the outside elevators (deck 13)

Just off the Jewel. They serve roast beef sandwiches like the ones found in the Park Cafe on other ships, as well as salads made to order (although fewer salad offerings than in Park Cafes).

You can get the Beef Sandwiches for a late night snack unlike Oasis Class. Open till 2 am serving a cross between cafe promenade, dog house, sorrentos and park cafe. It is pretty good. Think a wider variety than other ships.

I'll have a look tomorrow to see if anything for breakfast but it isn't advertised in cruise compass.

  5. hi - we board on Sunday - looking for information on fitness and spin classes - what types, what times, what prices? thanks!

Sorry never picked any of this up. Only have what is on the Cruise Compass. Not sure if this is a fleet wide change but the Compass isn't as good as previous cruises.

After commenting on internet being not good last night it has been down for huge chunks of today. Apparently is fleet wide & includes Celebrity.

  6. We did a B2B on Jewel in this winter, muster seemed fine. Hung out in the Schooner Bar for a bit and left. What made it a nightmare?

It was done at 8pm....dinner was rushed to have dining finished in time. The 2 brilliant waiters we now had just seemed rushed and unfriendly on the 1st night. You would think they had been sent for further training.

Muster was outside I think for everyone.

Someone collapsed near us...it was very hot.

Most of the passengers talked throughout which really wound me up as I could hear nothing.

  7. I'm certainly loving it.

The centrum is fantastic and the windows in the bar make such a difference compared to the blocked in voyager, freedom & oasis class.

Few negatives the Kids club is very small and due to facilities they merge all 6-11. Our youngest is only just 6 and not sure all activities are appropriate. Dining tables are very cramped together.

However really I am being picky the ship overall is fantastic.

    Few other bits:-

Not sure what is happening with room service charges as we don't seem to have a card in our cabin. Compass seems to only mention late night charges.

We are staying in Cabin 1098 the supposed Junior Suitte with obstructed view. Basically you get an extended balcony which is obstructed/covered that is becoming by afternoon napping area. The usual balcony is not obstructed just the extra space

  8. First time ever on a Radiance Class Ship.

Have to say very impressed. Ship is beautiful. Very well maintained. Lounges are very good.

Only criticisms pool decks are a bit small although not much we can do about that & the lifeboat drill at 8:00pm on first day is a nightmare.

Windjammer particularly is so much better than previous trips.

Dominica tomorrow....great days in the sun :D...it is very hot.

Let me know any questions and I am trying to do a very short daily update on my blog

  9. The just isn't any rules on this and I guess it all depends on demand. I got quoted an outrageous price by RCCl on our upcoming cruise BUT contacted Crown & Anchor and had success after several emails and now have a Junior Suite :D

I think the answer is to keep trying and email rather than ring BUT don't expect anything

  10. When it suits them they combine groups. We tend to go at "off" times and either two or three cruises where DS has been slated for the 9-11 group they've clumped them in with the 6-8 year olds.

And then they've played almost exclusively ball games, where the ball is kicked or thrown. So there are 6 year olds in there playing ball with nearly 12 year olds. The counselors keep control over it, but they *know* that the room is mixed (each time this has happened they actually have it in the 6-8 year old room). It's not just one older or younger kid in there.

Sent from my iPhone using Forums

Yes seen that done on several cruises. Plus certain activities they always combine. It makes sense and it advertised including in brochures this can happen.

It is just the one child ageing down without other parents realising I wonder if anyone has any experience of it actually happening. I just cant see youth staff taking that risk

  11. They tend to be more apt to have the older child age down to the younger group. But, maybe your 10 year old would be happier hanging with new friends her own age than with her little brother. Also, she will be at an age where she can be given sign out privileges while he cannot.

People keep mentioning this but I cant see how they could allow dropping down. I have seen several parents turned down. I can see going up for a younger child who is more mature...we have had experience of this a couple of times.

My reasoning on this is if the older child accidentally hurts(which does happen) another persons child. I just cant see Royal Caribbean taking this risk.

Has anyone any experience of Royal Caribbean allowing older children go into a younger child's age group?
