  1. Looking at a 9 day cruise next year on Anthem but I'm not sure about those two ports. I like the ports Bermuda and S.T. Martaan but not sure about San Juan PR and Labadee Haiti. Anyone tell me if they like those two ports or not and why they feel that way?

I really like a 12 day cruise too but might be a but too long for us with a then 4 year old son. Ports are awesome and its only 40 bucks more per person for 12 days as apposed to 9 days. The ports are San Juan and S.T. Martaan both the same and then Antigua, S.T. Lucia, Barbados, and S.T. Kitts. I like that itinerary much better but might be just a bit too long. Maybe not though, I'll have to talk to my wife about it. What do you guys think of the two itineraries? Thanks for any info ***** my questions.

Taken a 4 year old to Labadee and a 6 year old San Juan.

Also done a 14 day cruise with a 3 year old.

We had a great time in both as did my daughter

We also have had great family fun in St Maarten and Barbados.

Go for the longer if you can afford it any time :D

  2. That's too bad.....

We will be boarding on Sunday (TA) and then have a heavy port schedule after we leave Rome for the 9 night Greek cruise. I was hoping to grab breakfast sandwiches as we left each morning.

Never looked but I wonder if Cafe Lattitudes might have them at breakfast time. Noticed on Compass opens at 6:30am

  3. Cruised Jewel 16 years ago. Thinking about going again next year.

Enjoy your cruise. Looking forward to reading your review

    Thanks

It was great cruise really enjoyed it.

The ship still looks fantastic and despite the talk of constant cuts Royal Caribbean still do look after their ships really well. I certainly wouldn't hesitate to sail on Jewel again.

I am in the process of adding further reviews/reports/pictures/videos on the cruise and hopefully will complete in the next week(or 3)

  4. Hello,

We are getting ready to sail on Allure in June and we are getting cruise fever pretty bad. We have read all the Allure reviews in the past 20 pages or so (maybe 5) and tried searching for them with the search tool and getting all kinds of random threads when searching. If you have links to Allure reviews please share them! Thank you.

If you want something a little different my review of the All Access Tour.

Highly recommended. Although I understand it has changed a little now.

  5. A while back it was reported that the company was requiring the bar people to use measures.

I guess it was coming that measures would be introduced.

Years ago myself and a friend went on a Thomson cruise and he ordered a scotch. He got a full half pint glass :D

    Those were the days :')

  6. I noticed in the solarium last week on Jewel they were using measures...not noticed before.

Admittedly he wasn't really sticking to it as was certainly quite a bit more. Not sure if this new or just getting used as a guide for cocktails.

On P&O they measure all sprits and you certainly get a more generous measure on RCCL

  7. We were on Jewel in February. Scheduled 6:00 dinner in Chops the first night. Finished dinner just in time for the muster drill. Just by chance our muster drill station was Chops, so we just stayed there.

The table next to us had a 7 PM reservation. The waiters actually took their food away at 7:59 PM due to the muster drill. The people had to leave and go to their station and come back later to finish their dinner.

Must be similar situations in the MDR. The muster drill is at 8 PM every week, I wonder why they allowed this to happen.

I think they stopped letting people into MDR. We were finished just before 8 and whole dining room was empty. The first day service was so rushed. It was clearly due to the muster. I was going to ask to change waiters if it continued but they were so much better after 1st night

  8. Ship got in at 6am. Passengers were self disembarking by 6:30 - 6:45 am. The calling of numbers seemed mighty slow. We had 22 and didn't get called until nearly 10 am. Best hint I can give is to use a porter. The time it saves is worth the money!

Absolutely agree has access to a quicker immigration line and somehow he took us to the front of the taxi line.

How much do people tip the porters? Not sure if we undertipped

  9. We are on the fall TA coming back from Rome, and I'm getting a little concerned about the offerings at the Solarium Cafe.

Bob don't worry it was open until at least 2 last week.

No breakfast though served a mix of Cafe Promenade, Sorrentos, Dog House and Park cafe.

Offering varied; it was less during the day; but was usually 2-3 choice of pizza, hot dogs, beef rolls, cakes, cookies, sandwiches at night. Actually thought it was very good.

It opens early afternoon closes, during dinner and then reopens around 9pm.

  10. Certainly IM, and probably video chat, but the video may be lower quality than you are used to.

Not sure what the options were on Jewel last week as we purchased in advance.

However; we found the surf only package on Harmony to be really poor...perhaps because we were in Europe..Struggled even with emails.

However the full package(before they gave the different options) on Allure we found brilliant. It was a lot better than Jewel in my opinion.
