Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Oh yes, I could have gone a picked it up at the end of the cruise, but it didn't seem worth the effort on the last night. It was not anything special and I had another at home to replace it.
  2. ChiefMateJRK you have very expressive replies. It seems to me, from your other posts, that you cruise a lot and have a lot of experience to share. What was your favorite itinerary? Is there an itinerary you are looking forward to taking in the future? Which ship, in your opinion, has the best inside cabin?
  3. I also always get both, passport and passport card. I have kept a current passport ever since 9/11. I keep my passport card on me in an RFID protective sleeve. Who needs a real ID when you can use your passport card. I will breakdown some day and get my real ID, but I think I will hold out as long as I can. Has anyone used the Mobile Passport Control App? Does it work well? I also sprang for Global Entry. I find that it helps alot too.
  4. I did the Canada Cruise in the Fall on the Dawn and it was great! September is my B-day. Great color and the stop in Acadia was the best. I also ate as much lobster as was humanly possible while in Mane. I ate a lot of oysters too. I am still trying to get to Bermuda. They have overnight stops that sound interesting. Maybe an itinerary out of New York would be fun.
  5. This is the first time I have heard of anyone not getting their bag by the end of the first day. I once did not get my bag by dinner, and it turned out I accidentally had a prohibited item in it and so I had to go and claim it from security personally. (I had a pocket knife with a blade that was larger than allowed.) They kept the knife and I got to keep my bag. Bumpy start but it turned out to be a great cruise. I let them keep the knife.
  6. A bedroom in a house must have a window large enough to exit through in order to meet code in every state I have lived in. I didn't think inside cabins had windows. I did not think I was disrespecting or judging anyone. I drive an inexpensive car, no designer clothes or handbags. I don't eat out much and I have a simple gold wedding band. In most aspects of my life, I live very modestly. I just like nice cabins when I cruise. I also like to fly business class. So, I work hard and save my money so that I can do these things with my family, as often as I can. My adult daughter is a cancer survivor (she still lives with us) and when she can cruise with us, we get a two-room suite. The two-room family suite on the Dawn is my favorite. We went on a great Canada Cruise in 2018 on the Dawn in that cabin and it was perfect. That was the last cruise we went on as a family. She has been too ill to cruise with us lately. She is on a new treatment now and we are hoping for better days.
  7. I always keep a few days worth of my medication on me at all times. Including my inhaler because I am asthmatic. I also carry my inhaler everywhere on the ship.
  8. Is that true? That the couple has been "late" at other stops? I have been on other cruises where it seemed the same people were late every time on excursions. It got to the point where we would agree to take turns tagging along with them just so we could keep track of them.
  9. Yes, it was really awful. It might have had something to do with the mess that 4 teenage girls can wreak on a cabin, but I couldn't get out of there fast enough. Maybe someday an inside cabin will be all that I will be able to afford. But until then why would I stay, and sleep in a room that would not meet building code in my house? It takes all kinds, and that is not for me. To each their own.
  10. That's true there are often some better deals once you get on the ship.
  11. All mosques have those requirements. I went to the Citadel in Cairo. I always wear skirts or dresses so no issue on the knees and shoulders. I used the cheap footie socks you get at the hospitals and airline business class. I did have a scarf for my head, but they also have ones you can borrow. It is a sacred place. most of the churches in the world have similar requirements. Forget about the carpets, the heat, and the crowds and take a moment to let it all in. Just think of all the people that have come before you for hundreds of years to connect with their god. It can be a very spiritual experience. Enjoy!
  12. I like to cruise in Suites. I like the perks and I think for everything that is included you can find good value. I am constantly reviewing ships, itineraries, and pricing. You can still find some relative bargains. Even after I book, I monitor the prices and every so often the price drops or a better cabin becomes available from a last-minute cancelation, and I swoop in. The smallest cabin I ever had was an obstructed Junior suite. It was s short cruise, just my husband and myself and it was OK mostly due to the fact that I still got all the suite perks. I went on a family cruise once and my daughter shared and inside cabin with the other cousins and I could barely breath in a cabin the size of a walk-in closet. I cruise less but I am content. You can't take the money with you when you go, but you can take your experiences.
  13. I have done both Carnival and NCL and in my opinion NCL is a notch above. I usually book suites and the Butler and Concierge is better on NCL. I also like the smaller ships. I am planning on booking a Carnival Cruise in 2025 so I will see if my opinion changes.
  14. Happily, everyone has reboarded back on the ship. Except for the one that was too ill to continue, and she went straight home. I am glad it all worked out for everyone, and I hope that the other one gets better soon.
  15. This is clearly listed in the NCL Website below. The legal bit about the third-party contractors is for the liability of NCL. The NCL Excursions tour operators are themselves individually insured. If there are any issues on the excursion you would have to sue the tour operator and not NCL. But the wait for delayed NCL excursions is true. I have seen it several times. WHY BOOK WITH US? Flexibility & Convenience We offer you flexibility, convenience and peace of mind. Dedicated pre-cruise and onboard specialists are available to assist you Convenience of one-stop shopping for all of the ports you’ll be visiting Flexibility to modify or cancel excursions without penalty up to 48 hours prior to arrival into port.
