  1. surprised that Scenic not inc. Loved ALL the other cruises ,but have to admit the last Scenic was top of the line. Do look at website and get brochure for all details. But you DO GET what you pay for. Leave ship owing NADA and get first class accommodation, food, excursions,etc.....Booked my next one with them for May.

Similar(as much as possible for small riverboat)to premium or luxury ocean cruise.Loved the room service, bulter, tub, free drinks all day,all tips on and off ship, free airport pick up,,,EVEn if book own air.Tauck is fantastic, but LOVE the full balcony on Scenic with cover, makes room feel bigger. But would go on some like AMA,Tauck, etc if itinerary right. After 11 river cruises, remember all ships don t go to all areas.

  2. and little larger.one wall is all window(balcony)but can keep all door open(by putting down outside glass balcony cover so makes room even bigger. Can go to their website and see what I mean.

Have been in the AMA double ones, but 1 side was regular and other just French. So this just felt bigger.

I love to try NEW lines, ships, etc.depending on itinerary. When you ve done 11 so far, must take a chance for area of world being served. A few I d NOT return to ,but regardless enjoyed the experience .

  3. we have taken 11 now and 12 th in 2 mos. Have done all the major itineraries,Danube great.Have done from Amsterdam to Bucharest now.In 4 sections.Like to spend at least 2 days pre and post cruise. Also, love AMA(have been on 3 )but also love Scenic(after taking 1)and booked with them for next.

Love all the inc. perks, like room service, balcony with cover,ALL tips(bus and ship),FREE pk.up from airport even if book air on own,tub,etc.....also best food on river so far.Got off last cruise owing NADA,free drinks ALL day, No extra cost for some excursions, just everything inc.

  4. you get compensation for that whole mis adventure ,along with apology and explanation.

I have been on SB once where they did leave missing passengers behind, but left later from port waiting for them. They did manage to get to next port by train, but that was THEIR fault. This was NOT YOURS.

Makes you aware to always have mobil phone, all ship info, passports,ex.when you leave ship,or on way there like you.

Will be interested in how this ends up, let us know.Sounds VERY Poorly handled.

  5. see you re from the Villages, we live near Orlando. The weather and scenery sound sort of blah. But would like to visit those ports at least once. Have been to Amsterdam a few times and would do an excursion outside city.

Not sure about next yr. ,,we ll see after our Scenic one in May.

Sounds like our last one in some ways, loved the ports(but would NOT want to go back to any).Glad we took it,but not our favorite.

  6. With all the details. Thinking of similar cruise next yr.but heard not too scenic area and weather can be cool and rainy most of April, early May when these cruise go.

Did you like the ports, ship, cabin, staff, etc....any detail would help.

Have been on 11 river cruises, but not this itinerary and just have so few reviews .Hard to make a decision.

  7. to do a review of this Scenic trip.Looked under member reviews and cant find.Wish they d have itinerary headings, not just ship.

Thinking of this one,but heard from others it can be sort of industrial cruising scenes. But also weather is a concern, only offered late April and early May.

Have Scenic one in 2 mos.from Paris to N.France, and really hate to commit to another next yr.so soon, but know the rooms we like sell out.Love d our last one, but Budapest to Bucharest not that pretty cruising either.

Would you recommend this, have been to Amsterdam a few times, but never other ports.

Anyone else have this itinerary reviewed for another ship???

  8. had a roll away cot(bed)in parents room. But would be tight in reg.cabin with your 14yr old.Would update to suite. Can always call the river companies that do this route and see what their policy is.That way you get the RIGHT answer.Or use a TA that knows FOR SURE.

Ours had a pool on top and cruise had 6 kids(mostly younger)onboard. They seemed to manage quite well. No real activity for kids per se,so hope she knows exactly WHAT cruise will be like.

Do read the reviews and make sure its right for all of you.We LOVED it,but everyone different.

Same thing with the hotels used, call ea.and make sure. Many companies will tell you what you WANT to hear, always doublecheck.

  9. almost any weather change when you go.But DO GO, absolutely breathtaking scenery. You hate to go to sleep and miss any of it,but its stays light till late.

We never used pool since generally cool, but if that s what you want,,this is NOT the cruise for you.NOT that type of cruise, sorry.

  10. on new Sirena I see no tubs in even the Penthouse category. Always upgraded on R ships to get it and it says "full size shower" with no mention of tub.

Sad, its a deal breaker for me.And saw a nice itinerary too.See it was built in 1999 so maybe that s the trade off.

  11. After 11 river cruises, all seem to be good and you DO get what you pay for.

Only one I would steer clear of is Gate(travel company that rents ships).Did that 1 time, for price primarily.Regretted it.Do read all the member reviews, look at brochures, know ALL details, etc.Lots of info out there.Do research as to whats best for YOU. We re all different, with budgets, age, itinerary concerns.

Can always TRY 1 company, then another.Have been on ALL the major lines, now can afford and LOVE Scenic. But would also go on AMA again, etc.

  12. so that I could change 2 or more times a day. on AMA ship, rooms and rest all ac d.Also, had a pool onboard and lots of shade on deck.

I m from FL.and used to the weather,so didn't effect me as much as others.

All the above things will HELP,but if you re REALLY sensitive to heat and humiditiy. As some in my group were(they had to miss many excursions, sit down in shade, etc).sadly, may NOT be the right cruise for you. Can be a physical cruise, with lots of stairs, uneven surfaces, climbing out of small boats, etc. Just be aware, some of the older cruisers had a LOT of problems with that aspect. The hotels are all top notch,as is ship.Just on shore its very third world.

BUt if you can manage all that, its a great trip.We loved it.Just be aware and pplan ahead.

  13. most of the time whole group stopped at rest.with choice of a few items.I too don t care for fish or spicy foods. So stuck with noodles. Also, bring along some snacks from home,to pack,if possible.I took cracker packs, etc.

Do be careful of street or some rest.food, 4 of our group came down with food poisoning(1 even hospitalized).Remember its 3rd world and must be cautious.I really enjoyed trip, don t mean to put you off.Just be careful in your choices.

  14. this is such a great city, have been there 2 times for 3 days ea.and barely scratched the surface. I go a Rick Steves,Fodors, etc.guide from library and found what looked good for ME. Also, go to travel site for city for more info.

We usually take the inc.tour and then go back on own to sites we like. There is also a HOHO bus, which gives hi lites for orient you. Also, pedicab ride at river is nice to see off beaten track sites.

We always ask concierge, hotel staff, etc.for great rest.THEY like, within walking distance(if possible)and seem to find off the beaten great ones.Prefer NOT to go to places tourist frequent, but do occ.have lunch on river for view(not food).

Just realize you ll see SOME of sites, needs more than 1 trip.PS we went last June and weather was warm, little rain,

  15. when I check all the discounts other lines also give. Do compare and figure everything into sales promos.

As said above, the bigger lines usually have more openings, more ships.

I prefer the jr.suites on Scenic and only 2 onboard,so must book way in advance to get date I want.Plus, early booking savings.Downside is cost of putting Hold and deposit NOT REFUNDABLE.Also, if you want cancel for any reason ins.,must pay in full at time of deposit. So can be expensive unless your re really SURE .Then Viking also makes you PAY IN FULL at deposit,or 90 days after, unless policy changed. Don t like either, prefer refundable deposit and not pay till 90 days BEFORE.

  16. it was praising all the refurb done. Glowing comments about suite they had, food in all the rest.Great staff, entertainment, etc. Had nice photos and does look great in them.

Just a very nice, complete review with photos.Sorry, thought more cruisers read it since I got the name here on CC and subscribed.Assumed there would be online link, but you know what they say about the ass u me.hhahha
