  1. I can understand why you would do that but ultimately if more did that then service for everyone else (who had already tipped by buying a drinks package or a cruise that included a drinks package) will just get worse. If they are already receiving a tip and their service isnt the best then we shouldnt put up with it rather than tip them further to encourage them to provide the service they should be offering anyway,

It is the way some of us roll. I was just in Madeira for 20 days. At dinner every night we tipped. We would have 4 to 10 people at the table and each of us get our own bill. Each of us would tip 4 or 5 Euros. We had a great time. We saw many cruise ships coming and leaving the port. TUI, NCL, AIDA. The TUI was the old Celebrity Mercury. It makes me smile to see her looking so nice. Richard

  2. I will be traveling with someone that is not Elite. I was told by a member of the cruise staff that anyone traveling in the same cabin with you has the same 'level'. Has anyone experienced this? Is this true?

When you get on the ship go to the Captain Club desk and ask for a new seapass card that shows Elite. They will look your room up and see that you both are in the same room. This way you will not have any problems entering any of the Elite events. I have done this twice with Celebrity. Richard

  3. There are some ports in Europe, Barcelona for example, where local laws require you to take your passport on shore. It has not been unknown for local officials to be at the gangway checking this. I take a photocopy as backup in case of loss.

Russia is another country that a passport might or is a must. You can be stopped on the street and asked to see your Passport and resident card or hotel card. Richard

  4. Richard, go to the website first. http://http://www.azamaraclubcruises.com/

On the right hand side of the page at the top, click on Your Voyage. That brings up a block with three columns, the middle of which says Already Booked and at the bottom you will see My Azamara. Click on that and a little box comes up that says "You are now leaving...." Press the "OK" and you will open up a new page that says My Azamara Login. Take it from there with your login and password. There. Done! :)

Thanks so much. Why oh why would put it their? Richard

  5. We have been on 38 worldwide cruises over the years on Carnival, Celebrity, Cunard and Cunard Royal Viking, HAL. MSC Norwegian, Paquet, Princess and Royal Caribbean. We are taking our first Azamara cruise on Journey next February. After comparing the base fare plus Gov. costs and fees with our upcoming Princess cruise this June, both in balcony cabins, the Azamara per day cost is $6 less than Princess and includes drinks and gratuities. I hardly think that Azamara overcharges, it is simply a thought process of where do you want to go and what do you want to spend. Both cruises are to destinations we have not visited totally. Princess is to the North Cape of Norway for the Midnight Sun and Azamara is from Rio to Miami up the east coast of SA. (we have cruised the rest of SA). These two cruises will cover almost every place we've not traveled except Africa and we are really looking forward to Azamara for a change. We look forward to something new and different rather than the same thing over and over.

I'm looking at booking our 2nd cruise with Azamara. We are looking at a balcony room V2 on a 12 day cruise. The cost per person is $467 dollars per day. Richard

  6. Totally agree! Great attendant! Always tipped her if I had my purse with me.

I remember a bathroom attendant on 2 of our cruises. Feb 2014 and one of our cruises last year. I gave him a nice tip. He really seems to be having a great time. It was a bathroom near Blu. Richard

  7. I will second this, we wore smart casual in Blu on one of the formal nights and felt slightly underdressed.

For breakfast we just wore what we were going out for the day in. Shorts, tshirts etc.

When I book Aqua Class I dont bring a suit or tux on the cruise. I might wear blue jeans or colored jeans on any night. The dress code and dine when you want are the 2 best things about Blu. Richard

  8. ...I believe this is called 'humour'.....

As this so call humor is going out to 1000 people on a ship. Might some of the 1000 people not understand, like or perceive it as humor. My training at work has said. It is not what you say, it is how it is perceive. Richard

  9. Our last cruise 3/2014 we were in Concierge Class. We never did get the Daily ice service in stainless steel ice bucket. The bucket was never in the room.

Our last Aqua Class cruise 9/2013 we never got the additional bathroom amenities, including shower gel, facial spray and lip balm.

We are back in Aqua Class next month. We will see what we get this time, or dont get.

    Richard

  10. Can't decide if I should save my money or take my chances with the Century here on the west coast. Prices have dropped, no airfare, and a chance to try Celebrity are all the pros. Unfortunately, the reviews have not been good on this sailing and don't like cold weather cruises. Therefore, not sure if I'm passing up a great deal or not. Any thoughts?

We have done 2 west coast cruises out of LA. Last year it was on Celebrity Solstice. We had a great time. For us being from Seattle the weather was great. I have not cruised on Century, but I have cruised many times on Celebrity Mercury until she was sold to the Tui Group. I just saw the old Mercury down in the Caribbean in St Thomas and again while I was in Madeira earlier this month. She looked great. Century is a smaller nice ship. She will not have all the bells and whistle like the new Celebrity ships. Richard

  11. As for Blu, we are not a fan. We are in AQ our next cruise to Alaska. AQ was cheaper than Concierge rooms we normally get. In Blu the tables near the window are to close together on Solstice Class ships. I'm not sure of Millie Class ships. Breakfast is very nice. Dinner is not that great. The Kobe beef meatloaf I did not like. They offer to much fowl (duck, pigeon, pheasant, quail). They didnt serve prime rib the 1st night or any night in Blu on our cruise. I'm sure we will be eating in Select Dining the 1st night next month. Oh the soups were bad. They bring you a bowl with small dropping in the bottom of the bowl. Then the pour the soup from a vase above the bowl. And they dont seem to have much taste. The service was very nice and dine when you want was great.

The rooms are fine. Shower very nice. The free water very nice. The tea in the room was really bad. The location on the ship of the AQ rooms will be nice for a Alaska cruise. There is a large overhang. The other side is if you like sun. Find another room.

In the end we are trying Blu again. I do hope the food is better this time. I will have a open mind. For I do wish to say Blu is great. I will say Celebrity is great. If we all like the same thing it would be a sad world. Richard

  12. We got back last month from a Caribbean cruise and did see you where not to wear camouflage clothing. I'm not a big fan of camouflage clothing. I do have 2 shorts that I didn't bring on the cruise. When I went into a shop in I think it was Granada. They were selling camouflage clothing. Richard

  13. We had done both. If I had to do only one it would be. 12 night Eastern Med & Greek Isles - Rome (Civitavecchia), Italy; Naples, Italy; Valletta, Malta; Athens (Piraeus), Greece; Santorini, Greece; Rhodes, Greece; Ephesus (Kusadasi), Turkey; Mykonos, Greece; Chania (Souda),Crete, Greece; Venice, Italy. We are thinking of doing this cruise again. Richard

  14. We book Aqua or Concierge Class. We have no kids, no car or house payment. Paid the house off many years ago. I'm going to work until Jan 2017 and retire at age 58. I'm very lucky to work for a company that gives me 6 weeks vacation paid and 4 more weeks a year unpaid. We are still saving and investing for our retirement. Richard:D

  15. Hi all

We have this cabin for a 17 night cruise in October. It is very close to the pool deck, the buffet and has a large balcony. As I can't use the search facility, can anyone tell me if there are any downsides. Really looking forward to this cruise and feel very lucky to have managed to find this cabin.

    Thanks in advance.

    Nicola

We book rooms 2105, 2107 and 2109 any time we can. If I remember right 2105 has the bed near the window. The balcony is oversize but not the largest. We have not had any noise from pool, Oceanview Cafe or elevators. The cabin is great. Walk right out to the pool or up one floor for Oceanview Cafe. Cant get any better. Richard

  16. Whilst we've only enjoyed one Celebrity cruise and are looking forward to our forthcoming and first Azamara voyage we've been granted Shareholder's benefit on both occasions.

In addition we've seen the value of our shares appreciate five fold. Just wish we'd bought a lot more than the 100 we purchased.

    Oh for a crystal ball!

I look at it your way. The stock is at almost all time high . For me it has gone up 4 folds. Plus I have gotten half my investment back in OBC. I was also told yesterday that I'm getting $100 a year as dividends. I look at it as. If I get it, it is great, if not maybe next time. Richard
