  1. An AQ passenger can usually eat in the MDR by requesting it via the Blu maitre d', but there have been a couple of posts where this was problematic. The dining plan on Celebrity ships is capacity controlled, with a specific number of spaces in Blu, Select, as well as early and late Traditional. If one of those types is heavily booked, an AQ cruiser can't expect to be admitted. Sometimes passengers have been sent somewhere they didn't want, such as a table in late Traditional where everyone else already knew each other. If a lot of AQ passengers want to eat in the MDR, it may be hard to work them in. So can you do this ? Probably, although you may not be able to just turn up at Select. It also seems to be causing a lot of trouble for the staff to work this out if they have many requests. Just my opinion, but don't book AQ if you really don't want to have most of your dinners in Blu. Just curious, bigbenboys, why do you think you should automatically be admitted to Select?

I dont know if I would use automatically let into Select Dining. They will try to do their best. The 4 of us have 17 nights in AquaClass. Only 2 nights the 4 of us have opted to dine in Select Dining. We were not turned away for a table of 4. Was it because of Aqua or that we are Elite Plus. I'm not sure. I just gave our cabin numbers and we were given a table. We did tell the maitre d' at Blu. That we were going down to Select Dining, after looking at the menu at Blu. The service in Blu is great, the food is questionable.

  2. We seem to get enough alcohol drinks free from Celebrity. We enjoy the evening cocktail hours. We always take free gratuities and OBC. Our June cruise we have pick 2 also OBC of $300 for booking onboard. Our March cruise we have the 123go promo getting all 3. We are not that happy with it. The cruise cost is higher because of the 123go getting all 3. So we booked a 7 day cruise instead of the 14 day. We booked a newer ship that we have not been on. Then we are going to Orlando before heading back to Seattle. If the prices stay higher we might start cruise more in Asia during Jan, Feb. I'm planning to book a cruise while on board our March cruise for Jan 11, 2017. At this time the cruise is outside the current promos.

  3. There's really no point in booking AQ if you don't intend to eat in Blu... save the money, & spend it on specialty restaurants instead...

I've booked AQ cabin for less than a CC cabin. The breakfast in Blu is very nice. Dinner in Blu can be questionable. Booking AQ you should have the option of dining in Select Dining.

  4. There has been some talk over on the Roll Call board as you know. The story I have gotten is "The sailing is be redeployed. They are shortening the sailing." This Jan 31, 2016 cruise is all about being in the Kong Hong harbor for Chinese New Year. People have been booking this cruise as far back as June 2014. I'm now looking at a cruise for Jan 2017 to book while on my next cruise.

All this tells me is 2 things. Better for Celebrity to make changes over a year in advance. Don't book airfare until after final payment.

  5. I have been to alaska twice- once on Princess and once on Celebrity.I prefer Glacier bay over Hubbert. you sail in for hours adn hen out.. Hubbert you are just there for like an hour or so.

as far as cabins go i would get a small suite so you can turn around on either ship.

    food- do not remember.

i would go for length in each port- some cruises are just to short.. i had great dinners in ports when we sailed at 8 pm.

As we live in the Seattle area. We have cruise Alaska on both HAL and Celebrity. I really liked Hubbard Glacier over Glacier Bay. Go online and do a search for pictures of both Hubbard Glacier and Glacier Bay.

  6. Exact same thing for me when I tried to log in and pay final payment. On the phone with Celebrity now and they aren't being much help... just telling me to click the "forgot password" link and reset it.

My guess is their wonderful (sarcasm in case it's not evident) IT department changed their password requirements and didn't both to let anyone know.

If I get a straight answer I'll post it... otherwise I'll just reset my password and chaulk it up to the IT incompetence.

Today is our final payment day. I have not bought airfare yet. If I lose my cabin I'll be sad. I do hope my TA can make final payment.

  7. On our upcoming cruise we will have far more OBC from Celebrity than we can use (lucky us!). I've read here that we can cash it in at the casino for a 5% charge.

Can the casino cashier check our account or do we need to get a statement from the purser's office, or do we just tell the cashier how much cash we want?

(Sorry about the misspelling in the title; it won't let me correct. the shame....)

We looked at our account on our room tv. Then went to the casino and told them how much cash we wanted. We did $100. I'm not sure if there is a minimum or maximum that you can draw from your account.

  8. We are at 1030 points each. The complimentary internet package, coffee and laundry are great. I dont see any reason that we wont make it to Zenith. If I'm going to have a free drink I would enjoy the Sky Lounge over Michaels Club.

  9. We normally book Aqua or Concierge Class staterooms. Sometimes Aqua cost less than Concierge. I dont like the food in Blu that much. I do find something to eat most nights. If not we go to Select Dining. The tables for 2 in Blu near the windows on the S class ships are so close together. The tea in the room is really bad.

What I do like about Aqua is dining when you want. If we are in Concierge we have Select Dining. We make reservation for 6:30pm for all nights of the cruise. We cruise normally in groups of 4 or 6 people. The service in Blu is great. The shower in Aqua is really nice. We have cruised in Aqua 2 times now and have booked 2 more cruises in Aqua.

So not having to wait for a table. Dine when we want. Still about 6:30pm, but we have the feeling that we can be a little late to Blu. Normally getting the same table every night. The service in Blu. These are the main reasons we book Aqua.

  10. Since marijuana is legal in Seattle and Alaska, if I smoke marijuana in the smoking areas of Celebrity will anyone object? I'm considering booking an Alaska cruise.

I live in the greater Seattle area in Washington State. I had friends visiting from New York. We went to the local marijuana shop. They were told yes if your from out of state you can buy marijuana here in Washington. But it must not leave Washington state. So smoke it or eat it here in Washington.

SEATTLE -- Nearly two years after voters in Washington state legalized marijuana, the industry continues to evolve. Next week a SODO company will begin selling marijuana infused edibles to licensed retailers in the Seattle area.

As to Celebrity. I don't use tobacco or marijuana. So I have not looked into their rules.

  11. We almost always go with the cruise ship tours. We took a cruise on Millie out of Singapore. Indonesia customs changed our port of entry. So the day we stopped at each city in Indonesia changed. Celebrity was great, gave people free internet time to make changes for private tours. Since we had booked with Celebrity all was great. Celebrity took care of the problems not us.

  12. We have a 123Go promo for our June 2015 cruise. Since it is a Europe cruise we got to pick two. We picked OBC and free gratuities. I emailed my TA, she did the math. Yes I could change to all 3 with the new promo, but the cost is $250 pp with 2 people in the room. For us it is just not worth the $500 dollars for a 12 day cruise.

  13. Hi X cruisers

I am booked for 2016 Summit sailing, can't wait to sail Celebrity for the first time! I have one of the sweet 16 Veranda 2C cabins, so I am happy with my cruise fare, location, and TA OBC ($175)...and the $200 Celebrity OBC I got instead of the classic drink package.

NOW my dilemma! The new 123 inclusive promo....

For $450 more total I can upgrade to C3 Concierge and get $525 total OBC (Celebrity and TA), classic drink package, and pre-paid grats. I think this works out good for me...now just to find a new cabin/location.

BUT For $650 more total I can get Aqua A2 cabin....is the extra $200 from a C3 to A2 really worth it? (Blue, Persian Gardens, and larger balcony - I think). I know folks like Blue, but since I haven't been on Celebrity yet I would hate to miss the MDR/food/experience. I know, I would have to sail again in lower cabin category one day - which I will happen I am sutre...but I wanted some input on what YOU would do - a C3 or A2 for the price

    Thanks in advance!

    John in NC

Dont leave out A1 they have newer rooms on deck 11. The rooms that a lot people like are the aft facing center rooms. They have larger decks. Food and bar (Waterfall Cafe and Sunset bar) are 1 deck down. With aft stairs right down to the Sunset Bar from deck 11.

  14. Just to clarify...Canadian customs would have been at the airport entering Canada, not at the port boarding the ship.

Wrong! I came by bus and did custom into Canada at the border crossing. At Vancouver Place cruise terminal you must leave Canada by going through customs. Then through United States customs. Then to Celebrity check in. We just did this on Sept 23, 2014

  15. I start in Vancouver BC and end in Honolulu. Want to take early flight home but not sure if we have customs in Honolulu ? Sept. 22 2015 is our cruise

We just got back from the Solstice Vancouver to Honolulu. We were off the ship about 8:15, to the airport about 9am. Our flight was 1pm. The airport is small. We were not the 1st group off.

What was not good was getting on the ship in Vancouver. 1st was Canadian customs, then United State customs. Then onto check in with Celebrity.

  16. I love the escargot and cold soups in the MDR. :)

Just a heads up on the cold soups. They may still have a chilled soup in the MDR from time to time. Now the best place to get chilled soup is at lunch time in the Oceanview Cafe. Most days they have 1 hot soup and 1 cold soup.
