  1. We have got ourselves into the Russian bad books because they think that we are trying to bring Ukraine into Europe. I don't think we can afford to fall out with the US as well by annexing Alaska. There is probably some bureaucrat in Brussels working on it though. Sarah Palin better start learning French.:)

    LOL:rolleyes:

  2. SO confused right now. I am booking our first Azamara cruise for the Med in 2015. I would like to book a Deck 7 Verandah Stateroom, port side for sail away from Venice. I have read about the balcony metal plate and wanted to book cabins 7088 or 7090, however neither of these is available. I do suffer from motion sickness but I will be taking medication. I was concerned that 7092, which was available, may be too far aft so I took cabin 7082 (more towards midship but didn't want to be right above the tenders) which does have the higher metal plate. I have only been on Celebrity Silhouette in a cabin midship with an extra large balcony. I have seen the photos re the Azamara metal plates on previous CC threads. The balconies seem quite small and I was concerned that the balcony plate makes the balcony seem even more "closed in". I am also concerned about how much movement there is towards the aft of such a small ship. Would there be much difference in movement between 7082 and 7092? Looking for any advice. Which cabin would you choose?

I would really appreciate any help.

    Gillian

We were in 7091 and 7093. They are without the full plate. We heard a hum in the rooms. The closer to center the less the noise got. I think you made the right choice. Richard

  3. Had scones, jam, whipped cream, mini sandwiches, and cookies every afternoon in the buffet on Century in late April. We did have access to Michael's Club, but never had afternoon tea there.

Dont tell me they are using whipped cream. They should be serving clotted cream. Richard:(

  4. The way to evaluate your cruise pricing & what is given in exchange by Celebrity is to compare the same cabin type & cabin /ship amenities offered by Princess ,Holland ,NCL ,MSC . That way you will have a more accurate comparison going forward .;)

Yes Celebrity is making lots of changes & in our minds (we have over 30 sailings just with Celebrity * a total of 63 cruises) we prefer the older Celebrity with a more sophisticated atmosphere :)

.We are NOT abandoning Celebrity ;however ,we are now doing other vacation options & our cruising has been cut way back from what we have done each year .

We are not leaving Celebrity. But we did look at Azamara, Regent and Crystal, before booking our Aug 2015 cruise. We are still not happy with Celebrity. We are going on our next 2 cruises. Just because we put down a deposit does not mean we are going on the cruises we booked for 2015. 2015 might be another story. I will have to revisit my thoughts in the fall. We also have decided to fly to England for a 2 week vacation in July instead of booking a cruise.

I just check the website. It does show that the cost at Bistro on 5 is $5. Richard

  5. We loved our Infinity 12 night British Isles cruise.

    Here is my review

    http://www.cruisecritic.com/memberreviews/memberreview.cfm?EntryID=221137

I would rate it as one of our favorites.

If you have any questions, I will be glad to answer.

We did BI June 2013 on Infinity. I enjoyed it very much. For me the best thing was visiting the town of Chester outside of Liverpool. It is a old Tudor style town. We had been waiting for a newer ship. This year a new ship:mad:

Am I correct that Concierge gets priority tendering? From what I remember. In the past that was true. But when they came out with Solstice Class ship there were to many Concierge cabins and they took it away. But do your homework to make sure. We had priority tender tickets but never used them. Richard

  6. Regent's dress code is the same as Azamara's.

Whether passengers on one "dress better" than the other is a matter of opinion, I suppose, and, in any case, matters not at all to me.

I just checked the dress code on Regents again. "Attire ranges from Casual to Formal Optional. Casual wear is appropriate for daytime onboard or ashore, and consists of resort-style outfits. Casual wear, including shorts and jeans, is not appropriate after 6:00 pm, with the exception of the final evening of the cruise." The only time I did cruise with Azamara I thought I could wear shorts or jeans after 6PM.

As to the Sparkling wine. Yes we are all Elite or above so we would have 3 bottles of Sparkling wine for Jerry. But should he have to go back to his room to get a drink? Or pay more money for a wine package. All inclusive but!

Thanks for your thought. In the end we are booking Northern Europe cruise on Celebrity. We will book it on our cruise at the end of this month. We will have the 3 bottles of Sparkling wine in our rooms and the evening events most nights. Thanks, Richard

  7. Well, I'm back looking at another Azamara Cruise. We are looking at Aug 2015.

For the cost of theAzamara 12 day cruise I looked at Crystal and Regent. Both seems nice. But the dress code was a little to much for me. I like my cruise to be more of a vacation.

I find it very strange that Azamara does not have Sparkling wine or a Champagne. Their quote "inclusive amenities now feature select standard spirits, international beers and a changing daily selection of red and white wines by the glass throughout your voyage." I did see that Regent has Champagne included.

Does Azamara still have a evening happy hour for there LE CLUB VOYAGE DISCOVERER or above each evening?

    Thanks, Richard

  8. YES., YES, YES -we loved the 10/11 day Mexico cruises the Mercury used to do from San Diego - We also enjoyed the 15 Hawaiian cruises the Mercury and later the Century did.

    Both are gone :(

We would love the Mexican Riviera. I thought it was dropped because cruiselines where not making enough profit. We also have great memories of the Mercury. I saw the Mein Schiff 2 (Mercury) in the Caribbean in March. She looked so nice. Then I saw her in March or April while I was in Madeira for 20 days. Richard

  9. It's ok, but to my mind not great and isn't champagne, but rather sparkling wine. Better mixed with orange or cranberry juice.

    Phil

We are looking at a cruise on Azamara for Aug 2015. We are a group of 6. One friend only drinks sparkling wine, champagne, water and coffee. Is there a sparkling wine or champagne on the complimentary beverages that come with the cruise. Richard

  10. Woodyren, sorry forgot to mention that we have paid our gratuities too!

Sent from my SM-N9005 using Forums mobile app

Just so you know. You only have to prepay your gratuities if you have Select Dining. Some think you have to prepay for Blu, you dont. Richard

  11. What my TA has told us. We live in Washington State. In our state you must book travel insurance within 7 days of deposit for the cruise.

We have a booking for a cruise on Azamara for Aug 2015. When and if we deposit we will have 7 days to decide if we want the insurance.

    Q. Does the coverage vary based on where I live?

    A. Leaseholders residing in Florida, Georgia, Indiana, New Hampshire, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Utah and Washington should review their STATE SPECIFIC DESCRIPTION OF COVERAGE. Richard

  12. We were in Cellar Masters nearly every night pre-dinner and on many nights late in the evening on a 17-night Solstice cruise, and did not see anyone use the dispensers during this time.

I used them once. It took 3 tries to get my glass of wine. Then I looked at my bill. I had to have 2 removed because the wine never came out, but I was charged. I never used them again. Richard

  13. I bring my own products from home. I use a line called LUSH. What I like about them is that they have solid shampoo and other products that are great for traveling. They have a product call LEMONY FLUTTER. It is a cuticle butter. It is fantastic. I have been to LUSH stores in USA, Canada, Great Britain and Australia. Richard

  14. Trains are great and sure it can be done. Celebrity will wait for you if you book through its shore excursion desk. We took a Paris excursion with Celebrity and all went fine. But some people took the train. Someone jumped or was hit by the train. The line was closed down. The taxi cost them many Euros to get to the port before the ship left. Richard
